He's not between a rock and a hard place, he's out of his depth. I'm not saying that he has plenty in reserve up front because he hasn't and that is a problem but the main problem today was that the player who should have been in reserve was his first choice. To compound that, the player who lasted 90 minutes up front (when I say lasted I mean was still on the pitch, not that he physically lasted) will probably not play in the cup because 2 games a week is beyond him. The type of opposition he might be capable of getting on top of are unlikely to see him and that means our more capable forwards are probably unlikely to get as much time next weekend as Shola who is likely to be rested mid-week. Before Pardew stepped into the job we had a manager who would field weakened teams in the early rounds of the League Cup and he would get results. Why should Pardew have that as an excuse if we can't do well against the current 6th worst team in league football?

It's going to be turd watching anything under Pardew, just like it has been for 70 or 80% of the games since he arrived.

what happend? I missed most of it as I was watching the game but I did see most of the Leazes standing and shouting about something, then I saw 3 or 4 stewards walk into the exit in the East Stand. I thought that one of them was carrying something folded up in his right hand so my guess is they confiscated the banner.

I was wondering why everybody in the Leazes were going mad, standing and pointing towards the front.

I kept watching him today when he was off the ball ( I know, that's most of the time) and his lack of movement is staggering. One time Ben Arfa picked the ball up on the half way line and I think he played a one-two with Debuchy and Ben Arfa got to the edge of the West Ham box, Shola hadn't moved from where he was when the move started.

I thought that the best pass in the first half, possibly the game, was Marveaux to Ben Arfa.

I'm going for David Craig, he was a classy defender who had his career ended far too early through injury.

Beardsley scored 2 brilliant goals against Carlisle and Man City at home and they were almost identical. He was running away from goal on the left chasing an opposition player who had the ball almost on the half-way line. Both times he went down almost on one knee and wrapped his foot around the ball from behind the player. Both times he stood up as quick as he went down and he went on to score, I don't think I've ever seen a player score a goal like that before, Beardsley did it twice and it might have been in the same season.

My eyes will bleed if Shola and Tiote start over Gouffran and Anita, if they do and we lose then our manager will deserve all the shit he gets. Sir Bobby's statue will have more movement than Shola.
