You say this most games tbh. Make your mind up. Firstly, I rarely say this. Secondly, I do make my mind up, I do it during and after a game, not before and not by default.

    Papiss Cissé

    He scored tonight.
  3. Harper was on BBC Newcastle before the game and was commenting on our corners being useless.

The 1st goal was miles onside, it wasn't even in doubt when the ball was played.
  5. I didn't think he was bad tonight and the overreaction he receives is crazy.
  6. I thought that we played well as a team tonight, you don't always need to have a go at a player who you think is the worst.
  7. The only thing I would possibly agree with in that post is that you might be on the bus.

He's getting in to the right positions, the goals will come for him.
  9. Jonas played well, it seems some people must have a scapegoat and Simpson is no longer playing to Jonas will do.
  10. I thought that he played well, even if he was out of position. He offered little to nothing going forward but defended really well, he looked calm and composed.

I can't stand Pardew but I don't think we can complain about too much tonight.
  12. If we're 0-0 in the 2nd leg, bring Ben Arfa off the bench and we'll win.

I wouldn't argue with much of that.

Hyperbole is daft and we’re probably all guilty of it at times, especially after some of our performances this season. That said I don't think he deserves next season while recognising that he probably will get it. I no longer feel that we'll go down but that's down to the business the club have done during the transfer window. Without that transfer window I have little doubt that we would have gone down. We were like a ship wreck just a few weeks ago and we would have been looking at our worst one season decline in 35 years. Next season will probably be better than this season, it has to be because we look much stronger than we were going into this season and not playing in Europe will make life easier. Pardew might even gain us some points during games but I can also see him losing some because of his negativity. Something I can't see changing unless he does have more faith in the team he can put out but you would like to think that he would have had faith in the players this season after finishing so high last season. Maybe Pardew getting a lift in January can be carried on through the summer, I’m not going to hold my breath. I think the squad he had going into January were better than the league position we were in. I think he’ll be just as capable of making mistakes next season as this, while recognising that bringing on Gouffran from the bench will be better than bringing on Sammy or Ferguson. I hope he proves me to be wrong, not for him, for us.

He's not out-coached every single game but even last season when we were winning it was often a struggle and our style of play was often dour.

I can't see anything from Pardew to make me think he's going to give us an edge. I think we're almost completely reliant on our players getting us results. I know that’s probably far too simplistic to say but I can’t be bothered to go into any detail. I can't even see anything being built by him under the first team and you would think that a manager with his length of contract would be trying to build something for the future, he's not, at least I've seen no evidence of it. It's a pity because he's working from a position of strength because the people he works for clearly want him to do well.

He realised how to win games at the end of last season and reverted to type again this season. The best we can hope is that the players can rise above him.
