  1. Gates were up on the season before and our popularity in foreign countries is shit because of our poor profile abroad. If we're to bring in new income then we need to move away from trying to rely on what we can bring in locally. Costs were up in our first year for a few reasons, we sacked every director who was tied into a long term contract and we also allowed a manager to build up his back-room staff which we also got rid of, he was still bringing in people almost until the day he left.
  2. The massive opportunity was when he first arrived which created a lot of good will. He could have tried to build the club up to break even rather than cutting costs to do it.
  3. With hindsight, keeping Allardyce was his first major cock-up. He should have gone as soon as they gained control of the club.
  4. Ashley wasted a massive opportunity here and has rarely made a correct decision. Even if it turns out that we can stop pissing away cash and become a stable Premiership club, it does nothing to prove that we wouldn't have been better off if decisions had been made differently. So far he's been a monumental failure as our owner.

The lease on the land that the club is built on is dependant on it being used as a venue for football. If the club went bust and football was no longer played then the council could lease the land to anybody and the ground could be knocked down and would then be worthless.
  6. I suggest you do some reading and read some of the comments from Liverpool fans who were at the game. Also watch Requiem For A Cup Final on YouTube and hear the comments of a Juventus supporter near the end who said something like the Juventus fans were as bad as Liverpool fans, probably worse. Fans of English clubs were bad but they weren't responsible for everything, UEFA should take a lot of blame because of what happened as Heysel should never have been used in its dilapidated state. Blaming fans of English clubs was just an easy way out because the shit which mainly happened when the national team played. As for the bin dippers comment, I guess you'll be impartial when looking.
  7. The Liverpool fans were getting pelted with rocks by Juventus fans who were in a supposed neutral end of the ground and the Liverpool fans ran towards where they were standing as they were seperated by a temporary barrier as far as I can remember. The Juventus fans legged it and a wall collapsed under the strain of so many people pushing against it. The Liverpool fans already had something against Italians as they were attacked by Roma fans the year before. It wasn't as one sided as people make it out to be today.
  8. Heysel wasn't all down to the Liverpool fans, I remember seeing Juventus fans trying to get at them before the wall collapsed. As usual though it was always the English who were blamed when something happened.
  9. Poor Dalglish, he only had £35 million to spend in a year and a half. In that time his first full season record resembles that of Souness, taking us from 2nd to 13th. With the team that Keegan left behind we finished in 2nd then Dalglish binned Clark, Elliott, Ginola, Ferdinand, Beardsley, Asprilla and Beresford. These were replaced with Given, Ketsbaia, Tomasson, Pearce, Pistone, Barnes, Rush, Paul Dalglish, Andersson, Griffin, Speed, Glass and Dabizas. A few others came and a few others left during that time but these were the ones that had the most games while here. Dalglish didn't have to completely rebuild the team yet that's what he did and he got what he deserved, the sack. In the 12 months after finishing 2nd he virtually broke even on transfers, he made a profit of £400,000. It's not as if he'd been conducting a fire sale and he went on to spend another £13 million before he was shown the door.
  10. Not here and that's what people are discussing in this thread.
  11. Is it not the managers job to motivate players and get the best out of them? A motivated Ginola was clearly still a very good player when he left here. If Dalglish couldn't motivate players then he wasn't up to the job.
  12. He also brought in his son, Bjarni Gudjonsson, Brian Penis, Ralf Keidel,David Terrier, Andreas Andersson, Paul Robinson, Lionel Perez, Stephane Guivarc'h, Carl Serrant & Garry Brady.
  13. At the time I felt that Dalglih didn't want Keegan to share in any praise if we were to win anything, I haven't changed my mind.
  14. I've had an aoplogy from Chelsea football club after contacting them.
  15. I was also at Grimsby, I was in the home end until a fight started and we were escorted around the pitch.
  16. I've justy been reading the comments below the article, one had me in stitches. JerryDammers 25 May 2010, 10:35PM I actually remember Simon Taylor from his student days up here when I used to share a flat with him. He was a fully paid up member of the KKK and used to try and rally his fellow students into organising lynchings of the local African population. Many a time I would come home from lectures to find my pillowcases had a couple of holes cut out. He also had a signed photo of John Tyndal hung proudly in his bedroom. What's he doing with himself nowadays?
  17. I can't think of a more racist crowd than the one at Stamford Bridge during the late 70's, most of the 80's and early 90's. The nearest to them was probably West Ham but even they didn't come anywhere near the swastika clad NF supporting scum at Stamford Bridge.
  18. We should all ring them and complain at unsociable hours.
  19. Howard Gayle had a song about him and his colour but it wasn't racist. It went "He's Black, he's Broon, he's playing for the Toon Howard Gayle, Howard Gayle."
  20. He wasn't as bad during our relegation season as some people make out. He had a few bad games during a terrible season both on and off the field, a season when most players struggled.
