Smith and Spiderman out ?
-
Therefore I'm expecting: ----------------------Howard--------------------------- Hibbert--------Jags------------Distin---------Baines Osman------Mikel------------Heitinga---------Pienaar ------------------------Fellaini-------------------------- ------------------------Yak------------------------------ Is Aiyegbeni playing for you now? What was the point of not using him all preseason if they were just going to keep him and not replace him? Isn't the Russian better than Osman? You're mad if you think we are starting Nile in a Premier League match. I don't see why we should drop Colo and bring in an unfit Sol. Not the only one too think the same ,how dare you question my team its pistols at dawn for you dear boy
-
Play 4 4 2 ,drop Jonas bring Arfa in ,play Sol drop :colo: ,drop Nolan (not gonna happen imho) bring another forward in pref Ranger to play off Carroll ,just a diff idea but Houghton will stick with his trusted old guard
-
Tbh he will always be a scapegoat with Smith too when we lose a match or play poorly in games we should win so genine competition for places and formations will help but playing him week after week is not the answer and we know it.
-
Was he with that Libyan fella on a golf break
-
This is the problem the unremoveable capt Nolan i just hope he gets injured (not badly) and we can have a proper balance and fluid movement offensively instead of no one making the darting runs that we should expect with our midfield with no one penetrating but Carroll
-
Gonner have to get a sweater like. I'm getting this one. Goes without saying you can't have the same. http://wolfshop.com/ushop/images/aj181-wolfpocket.jpg can usually be seen being worn by middle aged tree huggers in matching fleece tops
-
then got injured came back and never given a proper chance again imho
-
Well done the youngsters ,could have been a banana skin but we never looked like losing it bosses it from start to finish, square pegs round holes position wise but lualua ,ranger and krul stood out for me ,amoebi less said the better but how many times has that been said .
-
Imho he did a hell of a lot of running about with no end product scared villa with his pace but did most to infuriate
-

How do you know that? I would not be surprised if Newcastle was sold before the window closes. I'm not saying it will happpen but it does explain the lack of activity at the club. In answer to your question - I DON'T know that, but there are a number of facts which make me believe that you theory is unsound. 1. Had any person or group, of substance been interested in taking the club over, they would have had it done long before this stage and probably by the end of June. The reason I say this is because they would want to have either their own manager installed OR want to provide Hughton with the funds to guarantee the club's place in the PL...why pay a fortune for something only to see it be worth much less in 9 month's time?? 2. There is no way that such a large transaction would have escaped the media's attention. 3. If there was any likelihood of this happening, Ashley and Co would not have put out that statement about their future plans for the club. They would just have kept quiet. The only thing that has happened in the last week or so which MIGHT give some credibility to your view has been MON's walk-out at Villa - he is one of the few managers that a new and ambitious owner MIGHT be able to persuade to take the job at SJP...and only then because of his fall-out with Lerner. To answer your points above: 1) When did Man City get bought? I think around about now is the ideal time to buy a club because you've got more bargaining power. To be honest there's a lot of dimensions to buying a club at this time that I'm not sure who is in the strongest position, buyer or seller? A potential buyer could let Ashley sweat with the threat of pulling out the deal and him having to spend money in the last few days of the transfer window to ensure Newcastle stay up. To get the price low as a buyer of the club I would be prepared to miss this transfer window as I would be confident enough with the squad we have to be able to safeguard relegation by buying players in January. Ashley on the other hand can play the card of asking for a higher price now to let the new owners have time to buy players/bring in new players. 2) We only knew about Ashley buying the club in the space of a few days, Ashley has proven he can keep big deals secret. Don't forget Ashley likes to keep his business dealings very private. 3) I would not waste your time or my time debating a statment from Ashley as he is a proven liar, his statements mean nothing. I don't think O'Neil has anything to do with it, I understand why you said it but I don't think it has any bearing on the matter. I tend to think the follwing has more to do with the possibility of the club being sold: Ashley desperate to sell Little transfer activity Cheap management structure Loyal/large support base (potential for a lot more) 3rd biggest fully developed stadium Cheapish wage bill Most of the points on both our threads are matters of opinion and each to his own... However, Man City were bought with sufficient time for the new owners to finance a bid for Robinho AND beat Chelsea to the player at the same time. Can you honestly see us doing anything like this by the end of the month? I personally wouldn't take a chance on this team getting to December and then trying to strengthen it - for a start, there are not as many decent players available in the Winter window and also, unless the team looks like scoring goals in the next few games, it might be so far behind the mid-table outfits as to make it very difficult to stay up. The defence looks none too sure either....! If I had paid the millions Ashley wants, I wouldn't even want to RISK relegation. MON WOULD have a bearing on the matter if he had already been set up by a prospective new owner...in his shoes I might just have waited at Villa until another job cropped up instead of walking out. Actively selling the club but not within a specific time frame as long as he sells it not in this transfer window but whenever he gets a good enough offer.

How do you know that? I would not be surprised if Newcastle was sold before the window closes. I'm not saying it will happpen but it does explain the lack of activity at the club. Overhead my head why you and Roger Kint found that so funny. I'm not saying it's going to happen but I would not be surprised if it did. I do think that when he does sell the club that it will be over very quickly without rumours in the paper. Going off Ashley's past form, there's two things that most people agree on: 1) He's good at keeping news out of the media (see transfers and how he bought the the club) 2) He's desperate to sell (I don't think anyone thinks the club is really off the market) Trying to sell the club would explain the lack of transfer activity and to a certain extent Houghton still being in charge. Tbh i agree with you and also think they are actively trying to sell the club but we know nowt about it but time will tell ,imho if a bid came in he would be off like a shot as long as he gets his money back = healthier finances and a certain amount of short term investment to hopefully keep us in this division then a long term business plan involving THE FIRST TEAM and not Perch,Best and whoever else comes in same standard players who fatten out the squad but dont improve it drastically .

Change the fookin record Chris Hughton has voiced his frustration at not being able to strengthen his squad in the way that he would like this summer but remains optimistic there will be more new arrivals before the transfer deadline. The Newcastle manager has signed the likes of Sol Campbell, Dan Gosling and James Perch since promotion to the Premier League was secured last season. But the new campaign is now under way and Hughton has so far been unsuccessful in his pursuit of other targets such as Hatem Ben Arfa, who could now join Werder Bremen. Hughton admits it has been a tricky period but he is still looking to bring in further reinforcements before the end of the month. "We're still working at it," he told the Northern Echo. "It's difficult at the moment and I must admit that it's frustrating at the moment but that is the nature of the transfer window. "I'm still hopeful that we're going to be able to make those additions."

Gosling injured till whenever,Cambell too much Wedding cake so i can see a pattern emerging sign him up

Doesn't somebody say this every window? Yes, because it's completely correct... wise in fact. Most people are basing their criticism on past form and on the implicit presumption of no further significant transfer activity, only scrapping for loans with the rest of the bottom feeders. Why do we have to wait until the outcome is proven to have the debate? Still, there's plenty of cause for optimism I suppose. End of the window signings under Llambias : Xisco Gonzalez (L) Nolan R Taylor Harewood (L) Van Aanholt (L) Hall (L) Best Although of course it would be unreasonable to expect to live up to this kind of quality with no capital outlay. trying to work out if your being sarcastic or not I.E most of the players in that list apart from Van Aanholt and questionably Nolan who has loads of prem experience but is arguably finished at this level ,the jury is out on Gonzalez and Xisco cos they got injured and out of favour , ffs this type of quality is just not good enough in the battle we will be in .

So what is the point in spending money in January to help us get promotion then getting relegated the following season for not consolidating
-
Probably this one too at this rate as nowts gonna happen
-
I want to cry about this atm so frustrating
-
Well Perch is our left back cover, Hughton said he signed him for his versatility and the fact he can occupy both right and left back positions. If he's injured, Simpson/ R. Taylor/Kadar can play there too- Not very well, mind, but that's the way Chris sees it I think in the bigger picture it is our total frustration that atm with the ben arfa situation and the managements total lack of football knowledge that is hindering CH as a manager that will get us relegated and promotion was a waste of time just to balance the fookin books in the short/long term ,total ineptitude at the highest level and me personally the sooner these clowns have gone the better but thats not happening anytime soon and the fans will show our disapproval soon enough unless miracles happen but i see totally incompetent loan signings coming in .

So am I, but not for the same reason. The people saying we don't really know what's going on money wise are partly right of course, as are those who are doing some guesswork and concluding there must be money available. For me, the money side is largely irrelevant. From my point of view, the fans of this club should have a different interest than the owner. What good is it to us if we balance the books so Ashley can walk away with a tidy profit in a few years time? As far as I am concerned I think the fans should demand that the club aspires to be the best it possibly can. We pay out huge amounts of money on season tickets, drinks and food at the matches, fan shop articles etcetera. We do so (from a business point of view) because we enjoy the products that NUFC offers. This club has a huge following (read: turnover) because in recent past it offered a top notch product. In recent years, the quality of the product on offer has gone down substantially, but we have remained loyal. It is in NUFC's interest to make sure it remains so, and for that (like in every other company) investments are needed. I don't particularly care how they do it, or if a certain player cost the club 1 million or 20 million, as long as the club continues to offer quality in return for our personal investment. The internal balancing of the books is important, but ultimately largely irrelevant for the fans (bar going to the point of risking the very existence of the club). The bottom line is the people in charge of this club need to consider themselves "caretakers" of the club, and their success should be measured by how much they take us forward (or not), not how much profit they manage to squeeze out of us over the years of their tenure (which coincidentally I don't object to them doing; they should be rewarded if they take us forward. They shouldn't be when they fail to do so however imho). If Ashley didn't understand this when he bought us then he has no business being a Premiership football club owner. Football is a highly emotional "business" proposition, and managing a football club does not have much semblance to managing a sport article shop. Regardless of the money involved, Ashley has a moral duty to make sure we don't go backwards after he has just been bailed out by Hughton's excellent work last season. If he can't muster that, it will be another nail in his coffin in a growing chain of foolish decisions since he has taken us over. This off-season he had the opportunity to turn around the tide and get in a more favourable position with the fans than he has been for a while. I will be baffled if he doesn't take that chance purely for short term personal financial gain. Here here put this in a nother thread so everyone can read it
