I thought it was fairly clear that Staveley could effectively fund January by proxy. Basically, Ashley has to back Rafa, secure our future and she will pay the difference or extra monies in the Summer. Allowing the club to flounder benefits noone at all and Ashley certainly doesn't have the stomach for another championship season.

If we got relegated but had the takeover, with a promise of ambition, would Rafa stay?

Out of the 11 players on the pitch, there's arguably 2 which don't need upgraded (Lascelles and Merino). In every other position we could sign a player and improve the starting 11. 3 or 4 in any position would be a significant boost to us.

As someone mentioned, wages have been holding us back for 10 years. Agents don't go near clubs who have a reputation for being tight cunts. Hopefully, Ashley won't care about paying too much on wages for new players as it's going to be someone else's problem.
