  1. Absolutely. Should. Yes. Does everyone agree that if Milner is sold and not replaced then we as fans have every right to feel dudded? No because the right player might not be available. If it was that easy to sign quality we would have been doing it all summer.
  2. Well, if you're going to start chasing people for replies, how about the hundreds of posters who all used to urge the old board to "splash the cash" and now slate them for spending "money they didn't have" and also are now saying its alright "not to splash the cash". Nobody disputes that Smith has been a huge disappointment by the way. Shame, because he was pretty good at Leeds, the criteria you normally use when assessing footballers, wouldn't you agree ? On the other hand, I've asked you this before Dave, living in Leeds, but you don't seem to know, so did you live in Leeds at that time or not ? I'll also add that Leeds supporters, at the time, were quite happy with him, and said that he was one of the best players. And, that is first hand information I have from Leeds supporters Hard one to fathom Smith. I too thought he was class when he was at leeds and i was urging the club to sign him but Man Utd snapped him up. So when we signed him this time, i thought he would be a good signing for the club but only if we can recapture his leeds form. There have been many arguements as to why he's been poor. One is that his injuries have taken a toll, another is that SAF constant change in postion (DM) has changed his mentality. Personally, i believe it to be a bit of both. Anyone who watched Smith for Leeds would see that he had pace in his game, that's almost forgotten IMO. Since coming from Manchester, he clearly has lost that, whilst retaining his energy and enthusiasm. However, because he has lost this pace, he doesn't find himself in the same goalscoring positions (which is vital) and therefore scores no goals. Now, it's not a case of Shearer, where we can change his game to benefit the team because quite frankly i don't think he's good enough to hold up the ball or play others into the game.
  3. well, he was when he was at Leeds. Presumably thats why Alex Ferguson bought him too ? Anyway, I hope you aren't suggesting the club actually buys players based on how they have performed at previous and/or current clubs He had a run when Keegan came in and Oba was in the ACN and Dukes was injured and did absolutley tosh. The only time he had a remotely dcent game was when he played in front of the back 4 against arsenal I think and was literally just told to tackle. His best game for us was when we played Everton at home and won 3-2. Him and Oba caused them alot of problems, he was very good that day. I don't rate Smith but if he has a good day i will say so.
  4. Again, it's not the style of Keegan unless it's view to a permanent transfer like Saviola. I think the last thing KK wants are stop gaps, which are not always the worst thing.
  5. Out of that Man City squad the only players capable of playing consitently for a top 4 side are; Petrov, Coruka, Richards, Elano (perhaps) and maybe Kompany and Wright Phillips at a push. The rest are unproven or not good enough.
  6. The point is valid.... for Everton, different clubs though. If Newcastle picked up loanees and freebees we would be hounded by the press and if they failed the fans would say the recruitment team is doing a poor job. At Everton they can get away with it because believe it or not there is ALOT less pressure. As well this KK doesn't like to have huge turnovers of players, he likes to create a group mentality, so he wouldn't be keen. I'd also like to point out our versatile players; Beye, Colo, Bassong, N'Zogbia, Milner, Guthrie, Edgar, Jonas, Geremi, Duff and Smith
  7. SWP confirmed is off to city. EDIT: just seeen there is a thread

    The PANIC! Thread

Why? Yes I know some new signings (providing they add something to the team) would make us a stronger side but if for whatever reason we don't get the additions is it really doom and gloom? Take some of last seasons results under Keegan along with the start this year. Yes we won't be challenging for 4th but are the teams around about us really that much better and we still have Martins, Viduka, a fully fit Michael Owen and Barton to return. As long as the club show progression over the season and climb the table it will be a good start I will be happy and then we can build on from there... Exactly how I feel. The point of that billionaire thread was that it appears many expected us to be spending money as though we are competing for the CL spots in this coming season, when we're quite clearly not. Just think people are being a little unreasonable tbh. If we can get into the UEFA cup via the bloody intertoto that will do me this year. Back in europe and onto a better stage, next year we can try and invest a little more.

    The PANIC! Thread

Is that true? If so, i have never heard that yet. It's a nice piece of knowledge to know that two of our main rivals have smaller squads, fills me with a touch more optimism. Obviously doesn't hide the fact that we need more players like.
  10. Your post fills me with optimism. Again, i hope you are correct.
  11. I'm not an anti ashley guy nor do i have any problems with who we have signed but we surely can't go into the season with what we have got?
  12. Again with the laughter, no comments? No arguements? If you think what i am saying is stupid, then simply reply with that. Don't get clever.
  13. deals can't be done fast these days you can't complete a deal just because you want to deals will only happen right before the deadline what - a - fucking - joke Can't tell whether that was with or against me TBH. I was one of the "give it time man, still a month left" brigade but with what? 4 full days left i think the fans have a right to be getting nervous.
  14. So Man City sign Komany, Zabeleta and possibly SWP in that time we have done what?
  15. strangely i don't think that, i think we'll certainly be underwhelmed in numbers but something will happen it has to I hope to fuck you are right. I'm starting to hve alot of doubts. Hopefully, the meeting yesterday will have sparked the transfers into life. Seems strange looking forward to what Oliver has to say.
  16. Anyone else starting to think we will sign noone else?
  17. Alot of people are making the negative assumption that the club is the one in the wrong. Hold the fuck on, Milner handed in a transfer request because we refused to give him a wage rise and WE are in the wrong? I'm not being fooled by this "young proffesional" bullshit, he wanted a wage rise that he did not deserve. As for his request. The club is the one that has been shat on here, not Milner. If they want to release this information, they can do it when and how they like. Milner can't simply be a greedy tosspot and expect the club to stay quiet about the matter. If he had been sold and the fans had gone mad, the club would be seen wrong for selling him but the fans would have had no clue about him handing in a transfer request. As for why we have released it now and not 8 days ago, my guess is that at this meeting the club decided we were not going to review his contract and therefore accepted his transfer request, therefore making it public.
  18. I never try to criticise posts on here but wow, what a poor post. Sounds like a guy who watched his very first Newcastle game last night. Milner put in a great performance last night but I have seen him put in plenty of good performances over the last few seasons unlike SWP/Lennon who have really good form of sitting on the bench. Milner has, overall, been very consistent and he's always out there trying his hardest, SWP or Lennon aren't good enough to get the chance regularly. You are simply wrong. I have watched Milner plenty of times over the last 3 seasons and i can tell you that he has no end product and is not good enough to be in our first team. He doesn't score goals, he doesn't get assists, however i concede his work rate is brilliant but so is Alan Smith's. At least Lennon and SWP have pace, which can at least cause oppo some problems. That's ignoring the fact that they have better skill too.
  19. Those stats confirm what most of us already thought. He won't be a huge loss for us. They confirm that stats can be used to prove anything lol Did he not miss most of his games under KK ? Last season, when Villa played Zat Knight, statistically we let in far fewer goals. That'd suggest that Knight is a better player than Curtis Davies. Hmmm. Do rate Milner like Brummie? He will do a good job, if you sign him but he is no great player and certainly not going to be worth what you would have to pay for him.
  20. Those stats confirm what most of us already thought. He won't be a huge loss for us.
  21. Why would he not be interested in Man City or Everton but would be in coming here? KK that much of a pulling factor? People are quick to forget what an amazing place SJP is to play. Have you ever been to an away ground? I can tell you that our ground and our city must really impress when people come to play there. As SWP says, Man City are in turmoil and Everton have never been an attractive club to play for, someone mentioned it earlier. We have had a great start to the season and KK knows SWP very well, it would be a marriage of convience. I honestly don't think that the UEFA cup is a huge pulling factor TBH.
  22. I'm sick to fuck of this transfer window. I'm happy with the players we have bought but we need alot more and the clock is ticking. If we manage to get 3 in it will be a miracle, 2 at the very most IMO.
  23. We desperately need players in, especially if Milner leaves.
