  1. I hate to be cynical but when you sign foreign players you have to turn your attention to their attitude and mental strength. More Enrique's, less Bassong's. Even if Bassong is a quality player.
  2. He's been playing the best football of his entire career this season. True but his best would have been for the previous three years had he not been an injury prone cunt. He's over the hill regardless of his form. One big injury (which will happen) and he's done. Good footballer mind.
  3. Think almost our whole squad is premiership standard. Of course we went down with some of those players but imo we went down because of one accident after the other. Keegan resigning... Kinnear... Kinnear getting ill... getting Shearer instead of a proven manger... and so on. Under normal circumstances with that squad from 08/09 we would have never ever gone down imo. Agreed. All of that and more happened and we nearly survived. I also don't think the standard at the bottom has improved much.
  4. Larsson is exactly the sort of player we should be signing.
  5. Howay lads lets stop setting up blind dates and get back to the topic.
  6. Rather than Bellamy being "out of our league", he's not the sort of player we will want to target. What would upset the rythm of our club right now? Trouble maker On huge wages Will demand a first team place Past his best
  7. Credit to Davies who congratulated our staff, players and fans after the game.
  8. Hughton's a little gem TBH, he might not make it as a premiership manager but he's the sort of guy and the sort of coach i want at my football club.
  9. Sensible post. This year's team are lions compared to the pussy's of last year. Most of the things that we are worried about are the same things all the other team's in the bottom half will be saying IMO. Those thinking we are going to get 20m are on another planet.
  10. I'd be suprised if we are not in for Micheal Johnson in the summer, which i'd be delighted with if he has sorted his drinking out. It's this sort of player who we should be going for and who we will go for IMO, players like; Cleverley, O'Hara, Van Aanholt etc. Robbie Keane is an interesting one, as i believe he has something to offer but i'd be suprised if we went down that route unless it was financially do-able.
  11. I can see Hughton starting next season quite cautiously and play one up front for a few games, unless we sign a top striker. So going on that basis; Harper Taylor Williamson Colo Enrique Guthrie Barton Routledge Nolan Jonas Carroll Naturally i want and believe we will have new additions to the current squad, however i'm not prepared (or very good at) guessing. Centre midfield and centre forward are key areas.
  12. BTW did the club drop Carroll earlier in the season after his nightclub incident or take some sort of disciplinary action? If they did, it would suggest they have at least taken a neutral stance on this bust up, or perhaps even sided with Carroll.... due to the fact they have taken no action this time. Either that or they are inconsistant.
  13. I'm not sure about either players personality. From what i can gather (which is pure speculation), Carroll seems a bit of a loose cannon but is liked by most of his team mates, where as Taylor comes across as abit of a loser who doesn't take life very seriously. Loyalty to the club will win me over when it comes to these two.
  14. Not sure how you can assume that; Lets give Hughton some credit and say that in the last window he stretched the finances to fill a number of holes in the squad. What's to say that if we had £15m and all we needed was a striker, Hughton would not go for a £15million pound striker? /or not, just seems a bit rough to make claims on Hughtons transfer philosophy after effectively one (pretty effective) window. I think you misundertand, i'm not being critical of Hughton. I don't think Hughton will be a big spender, nor do i want him to go down that route (unless a top player comes available). IMO Hughton will bide his time and wait until later in the window before securing bigger targets. If we had 15m i highly doubt Hughton would spend it on three players. You are entitled to disagree.
  15. If we recieved an 8m offer for Taylor would you take it? I would and i rate him as a player.
  16. Well lads tonights the night to put all that right, let's give them a good lesson. To all those who are attending, get your signing voices at the ready and let this be a memorable night.
  17. Sunderland pissed away on shite like Richardson and Chopra which cost them 10m alone. We won't be going down that route, expect Hughton to be doing similar business to that of January.
  18. Valerenga were nothing on NAC Breda, 5-0 down singing "always look on the bright side of life".
  19. "Papers in made-up shocker" Sounds to me like alot of conjecture again by the media.... again.
  20. All depends on who is spending the money really. A Wenger would use 15m far better than that, a Souness would piss it all away. We have Chris Hughton, who like it or not wouldn't spend 15m on three players.
  21. Especially considering the amount of cost-cutting that has been done in the past two seasons. When/if we return, we will be in a much better (solid) financial state, which should be the platform to invest sensibly in the first team. I don't expect Mike Ashley to spend vast amounts or spend money he hasn't got, just to show his commitment in moving the club forward... be it 2m or 20m.
  22. Was he the youngster who was given a game in europe or another cup? I seem to remember him having a class game. He was given a few games around the middle of the season, perhaps most notably he was introduced when we were 2-0 down at home to Spurs with 20 minutes to go. He came on and ripped Gareth Bale a new one and we drew 2-2. Already got 4 assists for Blackpool in a few games on loan there I believe. Got a very big future, I think. Go on then, we'll take him

    Martin O'Neill

You have just beaten your own point. Villa were not a mid table side when O'Neill took over, they were much worse than that. Under Ellis and O'Leary etc they were doomed to failure. To be unhappy with their position is utterly deluded. Sure they want to improve but if they sack O'Neill how is that ever going to happen? They won't hire a better manager.. end of. Under O'Neill they will probably win a trophy IMO.
