  1. Koumas would be a good signing, but i bet he'd cost quite a bit and i dunno if he'd be up for moving down a division again. I thought he'd knacked his hip and was seriously considering retiring?
  2. No, we all love him now. You do realise we are in the championship now? Christ, you could have broke that news more gently.
  3. If it's a quickfire sale then it'll be ok, the situation won't be that much different. If it drags on and on we're fucked. Basically what has been said above.
  4. Because if there's no "quick sale" we have no manager and a board who aren't willing to do anything. They're hardly going to open the chequebook are they?
  5. If he was going to sell what has he been discussing with Shearer all week? New theory: Shearer is part of a consortium buying out the club. Discuss.

    Loans.

I know nothing about loans [/Tuffnell]
  7. So it's not a rule. I guess we'll find out if it applies to us but as things stand we're in at round one. I had been wonering why SSN had "Newcastle will enter league cup from 1st round next season" on the news ticker on Monday, didn't think it was news. But I guess it was for clarification purposes.
  8. That's what I wanted to hear, preparation and no "deal with the consequences later" attitude. If true of course.
  9. Eto'o to score first but Man Utd to win 3-1. Returns £215. Why not
  10. Only one from Norwich worth a punt is Clingan, even then thoguh we can probably do better, even if I have no better suggestions.
  11. It was one of the headlines on the Sky Sports News little ticker thingy. It's not really worthy of being news though, is it?
  12. Nicky Butt is a tremendous professional who has won so many honours with Manchester United it must be difficult for him being down in the doldrums with us. He rarely misplaces a pass and is a key part of our team. It is rare when he gives away a penalty, a truly rare error. He sits in front of the back 4 brilliantly, a magnificent leader of men and he would still get into most Premiership sides. His tackling makes Essien look like Chris Bart-Williams. Furthermore, Butt is a goal threat from midfield, something he has added to his game as his career has progressed. In summary, we are lucky to have Nicky Butt. [/The media & every manager ever for some f***ing reason]
  13. Easy to get a player in on loan for a month now as cover. See, Championship, full of positives.
  14. Bristol City Manager Gary Johnson described him as a "very naughty boy." Would get wrecked in town every night here then, let's just not bother.
  15. I guess the only good thing to take from GG's post (I tend to trust GG on all matters Championship) is that a lot of teams will take points off each other.
  16. The amount of players who transfer in and out of Championship clubs over the summer is usually pretty high, it's far too early to tell yet as madras said. Also there's usually about 12 challengers until March, then inevitably a few fall away. It's going to be annoying as fuck.
  17. I think he was happy to coast along not being blamed in a mid-table side, as soon as relegation became a really big possibility he tried to take responsibility. Got to do a lot more than that to win me over and I don't really care if he stays or not
  18. I've tried to think of the positives, but there's obviously so many negatives. Here's what I came up with: Positives: Should be a clear out of players Summer might be exciting in terms of player movement unlike the rare news days from last year. We might (might) win some games next year! Being out of the spotlight will be of great benefit to everybody connected with the club. Cheaper tickets? More games (guess this could be a negative if we're still shit) A fresh start. Negatives: The loss of TV money The inevitable loss of players such as Bassong and Enrique Nicky Butt, Shola Ameobi, Kevin Nolan & Ryan Taylor will still be here. Us not being on MOTD! (get rid of this negative depending on what the Beeb's highlights package will be like) Relegated teams often take a long time to adapt to the ways of the Championship. The mackems are the only North East Club in the Premiership, if they have any sense they'll get themselves noticed in as many of the "50/50" areas of the North East and convert a few young minds. The longer we're down the more chance there is they will become a stronger proposition. And worst of all: We won't be on the next PES. Shit the bed, I hate football.
  19. Sheffield United were a very efficient side this season, players like Doris are proven in this division and they seemed to have a massive young hungry squad. I thought they played well when I saw them, whereas I though Wolves were a shocking side who seemed to do well only because they had one creative outlet and a striker who could score. A creative outlet AND a striker who can score? Fucking hell it's going to be a long 12 months
  20. Depends on prices. Cup games against Championship opposition were typically £20. Whether that will be maintained now that we are Championship fodder is to be seen
  21. Season starts a week before the Premiership - August 8th. Feel the positivity. Woop de doo. Let's get promoted, and then enjoy the World Cup. Feel the burn.
  22. £200m? That's a lot of Championship quality players and mercenaries
