We have so many players who are better than average with the ball into their feet - Ba, Cisse, Cabaye, Ben Arfa, Coloccini, Santon and Jonas from our first eleven. How come Swansea play better football than we do?

Our free kick routine is ridiculous. Williamson can't jump. He's tall, but he can't jump so he can't get power onto these headers. I don't think we've created one real chance from this stupid routine in the Premiership all season. Surely it'd be better to just pass it out and try to create a chance more naturally?

He's going to be shit unless we're able to keep possession better. To me, his first touch is very good but he's not a target man so launching balls up to him is ridiculous. Did Pardew not scout him at all before signing him? He has a bit of pace and his movement looks excellent. His first touch is good and he's shown an ability to drop back and lay a ball off with one touch, which means that he'd be effective if we play the ball into his feet closer to the goal. Ba is also better with the ball at his feet rather than launched up at him, so we really need to keep the ball better and try to pass it around.

This is fantastic. This just proves everything that most of us know: if you keep the ball well, you will create chances and win. You look at Bilbao's possession stats and it shows that they're a good team too, and not one that just raised their game against Man Utd. Possession football is sexy as hell. The first half against Fulham at St James' is something that we should aim to replicate every match. We were patient then, passed it around well and didn't just launch balls into the box at every opportunity. The amount of times we restarted was actually very surprising but the result was that Fulham barely got a touch in the first half. That kind of play - patient passing and probing - yields far better results in terms of points and of course it completely nullifies their attack because they don't have the ball. We've had better matches this season - Villa away, Man Utd home - but that first half at St James against Fulham was where we passed it around best, and in that game Cabaye had a very good game.

I'm pretty pissed off too but at least the first half was the first time in about a month that we played actual football against 11 men, so that's a plus.
