  1. Doyle is fucking shite, man. I can't believe people actually want him in our team. After seeing him play for 5 games, you'd know that he's worst than Best. At least Best has some speed and strength. Doyle has nothing. Doyle is nothing. He's not a goalscorer. He's completely average. He's shite. Elmander would be decent but you have to wonder whether he's having a typical 'contract year' ie. plays well in the last year of his contract. Jarvis would be good. Jarvis is actually a very good player, and he'd be our LW if he came. He's quick, has decent technique, and he's not afraid to run at players. He's also young and would presumably come in the £5m range if Wolves went down, so it'd be a value buy too.
  2. But saying that, I actually wouldn't be surprised if Drogba stole the show. He's got to be pumped that a) he'll have a world-class partner like Drogba for the first time in his career and b) that he'll want to prove that he's still the man at Chelsea.
  3. Torres says he's never kissed a badge in his life, Atletico included, so that won't happen. A hat-trick is quite possible, actually, especially so since Carragher is playing.
  4. If people don't go to Sunderland matches - or any other, for that matter - it's because the viewing experience doesn't compare with the experience of watching football in a pub. That may be for many reasons, many of which are personal to each match-going fan, but I'd say high ticket prices, shit stewards, shit and extortionately-priced food and similarly extortionately-priced beer contribute a great deal to why someone would prefer watching in a pub to watching in the stadium.
  5. He'll stun Rooney when we thump them at St James in a couple of months.
  6. The two penalties were soft, with the second one being laughable. We also escaped a few cards that normally would have been given. I think Dowd just got caught up in the moment and let the game flow too much. I thought Barton was lucky to escape getting carded, especially when he tackled Arshavin in the first half. It was a yellow card, but the ref didn't even blow for the foul. That was when Arsenal were 4-0 up so Arshavin had a laugh about it, but we skated quite close to the edge at times. Dowd has been great for us this season

Yep. There's no way we're going to be spending £10m+ on him. It's just too much of a gamble, and one that we can't afford to take at the moment. We'll be looking at the 21-23 year old players, the ones that have first-team experience, shown that they've improved over that time and have the potential to do more. I think we'll also be looking at players with contracts that are due to run out soon because it's just cheaper to buy those players. Someone like Gervinho fits the bill for a player that we'd spend close to £10m on.
  8. Best looked like he did his hamstring so I don't think he'll be fit. That leaves us with Ranger and Lovenkrands up front.
  9. Gervinho would be our new Bellamy. He's quick, can score and he would really stretch teams, something that we haven't been able to do for a long time.
  10. He's 28 so a 3 or 4 year deal that takes him into the declining phase of his career would be excellent. I think he looks much fitter. Maybe that has something to do with quitting alcohol and generally leading a better, more football-focused lifestyle, maybe not, but he has come into his own in the second half and towards the end of matches more and more. He just looks like he can run for hours on end and that's a complete contrast to how unfit he's been during his first 3 years here.
  11. I reckon we'll actually be able to sell Best at a profit if we wanted to.
  12. Yeah, Ranger is showing more than Carroll did when he was the same age. Ranger's also faster and seems physically more mature. Whether he'll develop the same intelligence, instincts and goalscoring habits that Carroll quickly developed remains to be seen. It's unlikely that he'll develop as fast as Carroll, but I don't see a reason why Ranger can't be a 15-20 goals a season striker by the time he's 23.
  13. What a crazy club, what a crazy year, what a roller-coaster ride this football season has been. This is why you stay in the shit years
  14. Honestly, where the fuck did five come from?
