  1. I like how we Yank threaders now have a thread on the main football forum. This is a silent coup.
  2. Yes yes I agree. The yank threads we have here are all just for banter and laughs. Every team has its fair share of morons, Red Sox included. Probably moreso now after 2004.
  3. There is no doubt about it. The guy in the aforementioned gif learnt his tricks from Master Mike.
  4. I know exactly what you're talking about. Guy is a tool. Boston has it's fair share. Bite your tongue. QuakesMag is spot on about the genesis of the douchebag You just can't beat New Yorkers for good old douchebaggery. Honest. I have the (mental) scars to prove it.
  5. You've changed your viewpoint a little haven't you after monday? Not at all. It seems that you're so eager to conflate every issue together so that people will not notice how little sense you make and how incoherent your arguments are. Tell me how my statement above contradicts what I said on Monday. I said £35m was a good price. I said that it was a price that I would be happy to accept. In fact, I got a fuckload of shit from people on here when I suggested that I wouldn't mind selling him for an exhorbitant fee, like £30m+. I even got shit from you for suggesting that being a local player is irrelevant (a view I still hold, by the way). I have always maintained that selling him in this window was a short-sighted move because it ignores the fact that we aren't safe yet. It's a gamble to sell him, but if this was done in the summer I would have no qualms about saying that selling him for £35m is a good move. So tell me how I have changed my tune. And that £100 thing is still on, if you're up for it. What like the fact ashley has taken money from the club. You get the proof first that he has taken money out the club. Fact is he's invested over £250M since he took over the club and at least he's put some of his own money into the club to compensate for the mistakes. Unlike Shepherd who would still award himself a salary, bonus and dividends despite spending money which wasn't there. http://swissramble.blogspot.com/2010/12/newcastle-uniteds-finances-in-black-and.html You are an idiot who can't read.
  6. There is a gif on here in one of the yank threads in Gen Chat that perfectly represents the average Yankee fan. Douchebags.

  8. Stolen from someone else: FSG: How much do you want for Carroll, lads? Ashley: £35m, lol jo... FSG: Done.
  9. Yep. They seem to have recovered from their incredibly poor form. I think they'll beat Man Utd in both games and make the title race a lot closer than it is now. Actually, just looking at Man Utd's and Arsenal's fixtures over the next month or so and it's pretty conceivable that Arsenal will be level with Man Utd with about 8 or so games to play.
  10. We won't get a realistic replacement for Carroll, but we will get replacements for other players in the team, and our team will be better off after the next two or three transfer windows. That I'm pretty confident of.
  11. I dread to imagine what this place will look like in two weeks if we lose 3 games and are struggling to score.
  12. I think the forum's just going through a tough period. I hope we all get over it soon enough.
  13. I'm sorry man, but this is crazy. You're nuts if you think there isn't any passion. When you were at this game, did you stop to watch the fan as the ball was being pitched, or while the ball was in play? Are you sure you're not just talking about the long stretches of time where absolutely nothing is happening? As for away support, who was playing? I wouldn't expect 5000 Dodgers fans to make their way to NY for the Mets game. What month was it? Was it a game with playoff implications or was it one of those relaxed day games? Just because we don't sing doesn't mean we don't care. Yep. Go to an NFL game and the noise will be as loud as a derby in the Premiership. It's not as 'hostile' in terms of the potential of violence because there aren't that many away fans (tough to travel), but it's definitely loud and intimidating.
  14. We would have headed into administration with Shepherd in charge. The finances were really, really fucked. We were lucky that when the credit crunch came and the banks withheld credit, Ashley was our owner, and not Shepherd.
  15. We should be looking at teams in Spain because the football that is played by some teams is very, very good. Teams like Getafe and Mallorca have had a couple of years of playing good football. Many of their players are talented on the ball and they wouldn't be expensive given how both clubs aren't rich, especially Mallorca. If we could exploit these teams (and many others in a similar position) then we'd be able to get more than our fair share of good players for knock-down prices.
  16. Llambias is such a cock. Yeah, give him 8 games with a depleted squad with no morale after you decided to sell two of the squad's better players without replacing them during the season and you blame him for relegation. The facts are that none of the managers we had during that season are to blame for relegation, it was the executives who did it by faffing about trying to sell the club and completely fucking up two transfer windows.
  17. No need to sell Jonas even if he comes back. We need the squad depth anyway, if we're to be challenging for a top 4 place.
  18. After everything I've said in this thread, this is still what I want most. That goes for any player playing for Liverpool, Man Utd, Sunderland, Spurs and City.
  19. He didn't release this. It's a standard interview with the official club site. He doesn't get to control when it gets released.
  20. He won't be worth £12m when Wigan are relegated. They'll be able to get £8m for him, tops, come the summer. If we really want him, we should wait (well, obviously we have to now since the window is closed).
  21. He said that to the Milan fans, not the Chelsea fans. Carroll will come out iwth that stuff in an interview with a neutral reporter.
  22. Fair enough, everyone is telling me that this is 'just how football is' blah blah blah, and making me feel like an idiot for caring about or commenting on it. If that's the case then I'm not sure I'm bothered about football any more, if what you say is true then what's the point in believing in any club or player? It's not worth the hassle. There's no point believing in any player. There is a massive point in believing in the club, and that I certainly do. The club will always remain. Ashley will, one day, fuck off. And that will be a day we can all rejoice.
