Dunne, Huntelaar, Diego, Lennon and someone like Veloso. That'd be the perfect transfers for our squad atm, and all of them are realistic imo.

I'd be happy with £5m. For a 28 year old Premiership proven defender just peaking, I'd say it's actually pretty cheap if you consider how much other defenders of his ilk would be going for. We could sign him to a 4-5 year deal and he'll hopefully become the beginning of our new spine.

Will find it even harder against Drogba Who doesn't though?

Probably the funniest thing i've ever seen at a match

This thread's really gone too far. I don't think it was racist at all, maybe just a bit stupid by Jamie. I thought the story was funny though and laughed. -
Spurs will move above us now because we'll end up next season sat around 60 (no European football and thus losing the 24.7 we gained 5 years ago).

Great thread -
11 goals in 17 games for Sao Paulo The Brazilian league is quite different from the Premiership. Romario scored goals there until he was 42! Teddy Sheringham was scoring in the Premiership when he was 41 Are we really going to have a debate about the quality of the Premiership vs the quality of the Brazilian league?

Adriano's first touch is worst than Martins'. And the last time he scored goals on a consistent basis was about 2 years ago.

Didn't Spurs report Jenas' fee to the stock exchange without mentioning add ons yet when Newcastle reported it at our end it said there were add ons for appearances and European football? True, but when I queried that with my sister in law she replied to the effect that how Newcastle report to the Stock Exchange is up to them, the fee is £7m and nothing extra will be paid. The details should have been identical but they weren't, I've no idea which was correct. I've no reason to doubt my s-i-l but I can't think of any good reason why Fat Fred would say there are add-ons if there weren't. i think i'll go with the stock exchange announcement over what your sister says, no offence. There were 2 different reports to the LSE. What Spurs reported to the LSE was that the consideration was £7m. What Newcastle reported to the LSE was that the consideration was £7m plus add-ons dependent on criteria being met. My s-i-l (who works at WHL) says there were no add-ons. It's not whether you go with the LSE announcement but which LSE announcement. So both LSE reports are correct but your sister in law is wrong No. Spurs LSE report: £7m no add-ons. Our LSE report: £7m with add-ons. He's saying it just depends on which report you choose to believe. And his sister just confirms that the Spurs report says £7m with no add-ons.

KK's said that we don't want squad players anymore; we have enough of those, and I agree with him.

Tbf, we were reportedly offering to break our transfer record so if that's not backing the manager, what the fuck is?

1-0 defeat if Man Utd slip up on Saturday. 2-1 we win if Chelsea makes the Champions League final.

I thought it was the 5 second rule?

Yorkie, I'm a big fan of your posts about Martins Can't believe the bugger's only 22 or summat. He was better than Adebayor when Ade was signed by Arsenal, and Ade's older as well. I just think, with the right manager teaching him to do the right things (mainly movement and increasing the pace that he thinks at), he could be awesome.

He's quality in FM, that's all I can say Seen him a few times this season for Valencia and quite often last year and they do possess a squad that's full of quality, but just somehow not able to keep hold of possession in games, which, honestly, is surprising since a few of these players are leftovers from the years they won the two titles and those teams were one of the best possession-football teams in Europe at the time.

Boooo. Our season's over, man. In any other circumstance, it'd be blasphemy to say so, but just not when our season is done (and the players look like they think it as well).
-
I'm a football fan first, Newcastle fan second, so to say the title race is of a concern to me is to understate things a bit. I know I'm not a superfan (and don't pretend to be) so if Man Utd drop some points to WH on Saturday, I would not mind it if we lost to Chelsea.

How important is Europe from a players viewpoint?
Taylor Swift replied to Minhosa's topic in Football
as long as you have a good club i dont think it makes a massive difference. i bet if given the choice a lot of the worlds players would choose manu or even liverpool over arsenal or chelsea, they are not in london, but have great histories. your club just needs its own selling point. london is undoubtably one, but i don't think it gives a massive advantage. the chance to play under a good manager, a club on the up, a great stadium and many other things could be bigger pulls than london imo. It gives an advantage if the club isn't a 'brand' (like Man Utd or Real). From a foreigner's point of view, when you think of England you think of London. It is the freaking cultural capital of the world so not only do you get all the bright lights/fancy stores but there's a good chance that there'll be a community of your compatriots settled in London, and that is always helpful and wanted. -
Our next match is a on Monday as well so he can be scouting the players in other leagues on the Saturday and Sunday.

Link? http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,11678_3477690,00.html He says he'll fly out and look at the players that Wise and co have scouted that he hasn't seen yet over the next 3 to 4 weeks. Euro 2008 doesn't start until June. But every league has finished then hasnt it? 'Over the next 3-4 weeks' = from now until about the end of may. Most leagues will finish in the next couple of weeks so there's still time.
