  1. What happened to that Situ kid that Swansea signed that we wanted? Has he played? Any reviews?

    Loïc Remy

If Remy rejected the offer then it implies that Marseilles accepted QPR's offer, which means we should know roughly how much it'll cost to sign him. Of course, since QPR are out of the running now, it probably leaves in a position of power, which given our track record, likely means waiting until the end of the window to make a move.
  3. Coloccini and Ben Arfa. Coloccini because he's the best CB that's played for us in my life time, and Ben Arfa because he's the most talented player I've seen play for us. I would actually lean towards Colo at the moment because of how long he's been here, and because Hatem has only been at his best for a year with us. If he's still here in two years and plays like he's capable of then he's probably edged himself close to Shearer, especially because of how cheap we got him.
  4. Transfer fees will also pay a part. Since bosmans don't cost anything in fees to other clubs, our wage limit for them will obviously be higher than players who cost money. I imagine that most players we buy will get a loyalty payment from their previous club, meaning that they would in general accept lower weekly wages. Bosmans won't cost anything in fees to other clubs, only sign on fees and wages, so our 'cap' on them will be higher.
  5. Madras is right. We'll be flexible with the wages we offer. We will have an overall budget but I don't think we'll have a serious cap on individual wages. We'll have different caps for different players. Players playing in important positions will have a higher cap. Younger players, lower. Does anyone think Debuchy will be on 50k? I highly doubt it.
  6. I'm glad I watched the whole match. Brilliant finish. Now time to party
  7. Abysmal. Even if the height was ok, the direction was pathetic.
  8. It's not funny when you realise the fullback is also playing as a winger and the winger is just occupying space.

12 pages from one article. We are certainly feeling desperate this December, aren't we.
  10. Yet Ba is the one finishing off his chances and creating them for himself. Ba's a brilliant player. He gives his all for us, works hard for the team and scores goals. Just because he wants to be paid more doesn't mean he's an asshole and needs to be shipped out. He's been playing and scoring like a top 3 CF in the Premiership but he's not even being paid close to his market value. Why are begrudging him for wanting to be paid as he's worth? I know we all want what's best for the club but objectively speaking, the guy who is being fucked over is Ba.
  11. Fine. Goalscorer then. I remove Messi from this discussion because he would win every category.
  12. I actually can't believe I have to defend Ronaldo. I hate the bastard. If Messi wasn't playing, Ronaldo, with the insane amount of goals he scores, would sweep the player of the year awards every year. Now lets say he wins 3-4 of those. Would that not automatically make him one of the best ever? Of course we will never know because Messi exists but that shouldn't be used to underrate Ronaldo. You put up his year against the previous ten Ballon d'Or winners and you would pick him 8 times out of ten. Look at 1999-2009, the first year Messi won. If you put up Ronaldo's year against Sheva, Figo, Cannavaro, Kaka, Nedved, Owen etc, you would pick Ronaldo every single time. He would easily sweep every award if Messi didn't exist. He would be on his 3rd or 4th Ballon d'Or by now. That, to me, says he's an insanely good footballer who was just born in the wrong time and he will forever live in Messi's shadow, but have no doubt, if Messi weren't playing, Ronaldo would universally be accepted as a top ten ever footballer.
  13. At the end of Ronaldo's career, people will ask whether he's the greatest CF to ever play the game and it will be a serious question.
  14. Just because people watch the World Cup doesn't mean that it should be a significant factor in determining a player's greatness. Its a maximum of 7 games every four years in which one injury or stupid refereeing decision can cost you a shot at winning or doing well. Like ive said, ill take 60 games a year every year because that is the true mark of greatness. To be great you have to be consistently great. Cristiano is better than Romario. You talk about Romario's work ethic like its something cool, like its something to be respected. Maybe his natural talent was so good. Maybe Ronaldo is a product of hard work, a machine rather than something natural, instinctive. But I will take Cristiano any day of the week because he's remarkably effective. Romario shouldn't even be in this discussion. He's not in the second tier of great footballers. Ronaldo is far better than he ever was. I agree with Ash that Iniesta is a better natural footballer than Ronaldo and I'd rather watch the former than the latter all day long, but it still doesn't mean that Iniesta is better. Ronaldo is a machine. No one is as fast or strong or powerful as him. His unique combination of physicality is historic and he's able to convert that into being an incredibly effective footballer. We're not talking about beauty or pleasure here. To be great, you have to effective, you have to be a game changer. That is certainly what Ronaldo has been for five straight years now. His biggest weakness was his lack of influence in big games but he's scored in 7 straight Clasicos and counting and no one in the world seems to be able to stop him. Just because Messi is so incredibly historically good doesn't mean Ronaldo is overrated. Both are historic talents. Messi is on his way to being the best ever but Ronaldo is also etching himself into histoy books. If Ronaldo keeps this up for a few more years, he'll comfortably be the leader of second tier footballers, and that means he's ahead of Zidane, Iniesta, Xavi etc.
  15. I ask all the time about us. I don't want to look at the table.
  16. Jonas has been a brilliant signing. We've done well from his signing given the outlay in fees and wages but that's in the past now. He's just not an effective player anymore.
  17. Ronaldo is better than Fat Ronaldo and Romario. I'd take him over those two in a greatness argument, one because of injury and the other just because Romario never had a peak like Cristiano's. Personally, I'm not a big fan of international records. You play 5-7 games once every two summers and somehow that should dwarf playing 60 games a year, year in year out? Nah. Club performance will always be the greater factor. That's why you don't hear stuff like Klose is the best striker ever. International matches can be used to augment an argument but it shouldn't be the big factor that it is today if you're a serious football fan who follows stuff seasonally, rather than the average Joe who tunes in every four years for the WC.
