Totally agree. Throwing toys out of the pram doesn't solve anything. Some posters expect everything now and far too emotional. No wonder we get labelled deluded.

People bumping this thread after playing an in-form Liverpool at Anfield. Not exactly thinking rationally.

Gordon Assist

The guy you have been criticising all game really came good huh.
-
You can't tell the difference between a team out on their arse physically and mentally and a team that's up for it the whole 90 minutes?
-
0.33 xG to the bottom team in the Championship. New manager bounce didn't last long.

You're using hindsight from a match we have won, to say a player shouldn't have played a half of football. Him not starting Bruno suggests he was conscious of minutes. If we had lost and Bruno wasn't selected or didn't play, I can imagine a lot of folk on here would be criticising Eddie about not taking the competition seriously. He saw a way to win the match and went for it and won, it's bizarre to criticise when he wanted to be positive and win. No one could possibly have predicted how the injury situation would develop.
-
Absolutely. Think I meant to write 'this season'. But there is some competition, Liverpool immediately comes to mind as well as Everton.

Would have taken a remote controlled traffic cone with wheels a few weeks ago for CM. Quite like the idea of Neves on loan, but that seems to have cooled. LB seems a priority as the moment, so can at least rotate Tripper and Livra for RB.
-
I do somewhat agree. But none of us are privvy to what's happening in training. So to not use them when desperately needed has been confusing. Can only assume there is a good reason, and weren't ready / fit.

Howe has commented on Hall about why he's not getting much playing time. That there are areas he needs to work on. Which are fair enough but him missing all of pre-season, with us and Chelsea, wouldn't have helped him at all. Gordon is a perfect example about what a pre-season can do for a player. Livra didn't have a pre-season with us.
-
He said that to a question about how the team can get back on track or something along those lines from what I recall.
-
It's so ironic people are tired of the fatigue excuse Imagine a player not having any recovery time or just back from injury and being asked to perform at their best.
-
He has tried to manage it. Which is why they haven't trained properly in a month. Because if he attempted to, they would be even more fucked. Results have suffered as a result, and it's all because he wants to still win games, with the players who can achieve that. It's commendable in my opinion. Albeit the opposition is always fresher & more prepared. Since, again, we can't train at normal levels. Every game in the PL is difficult, there are no gimmes. And to his credit, he refuses to use it as an excuse. Just wants to get on with it.

We obviously need a bigger squad but even then it doesn't prevent injury crises. Who could have possibly foreseen a crisis like ours? It's been unreal, and came about in the very worst period of the season, and I'm sure you have seen some of our benches in recent weeks, right? So I can't comprehend how it can't be a legitimate excuse? Immediately throwing players into the first 11 when they are just back from injury because we have no one else. Surprised anyone would expect it's all on the manager. It seems Howe's failing for some on here is wanting to win every game in every competition.
-
Exactly. Any Plan A, B, or whatever needs players pressuring the ball when out of possession and winning their duels. Some players couldn't even run in recent games. No tactical genius can overcome those shortcomings.
-
Howe said today they haven't properly trained for a month, this week will be the first time that they actually can. So how exactly can he burn out the players in these kind of circumstances? He's managing the best he can, a game every 3 days constantly for 2 months has broken us.
-
I'm dreading it. If we lose that then the bandwagon for changes would be in full swing. All the feel-good factor around the club would have vanished in a space of a couple of months.
-
Couldn't make it up. We have conceded 4 goals previously at home all season and Chris fucking Wood today goes and scores a hat-trick against us . Bloody hell.
-
Not at all. Of course can have your opinions. I'm saying all your posts today reads like you have had enough and want him out. Which I find unfair. You say you support him but it doesn't read like that at all, in my opinion. I'm only saying how about being more patient? And let him train the team properly for a few weeks before saying he's 'failed', which is an extreme take, no?
-
Saying he's failing and that you're unable to recognise or care for some of the extenuating circumstances surrounding the team and being extremely vocal about it, doesn't suggest you support him like.
-
Howe said only a few hours ago that they will be able to train properly for the first time in a month this week. If a manager can't train properly or prepare a team, do you suppose that can adversely affect results? And helps explain our current form? Does none of his 2 years here warrant a bit more belief that he's the right man? Name me a manager who hasn't had poor form at all? Klopp's Liverpool last year were really poor. Pep's Man City has been a bit shit recently. No manager is infallible. How about we support the guy.

Sheffield Wednesday, Chris Wood missed sitter after sitter and thing Longstaff had a shocking miss too. Cambridge was a shocker. But that was nearly 2 years ago.. To say it's a pattern that represents Eddie inability as a manager, when the sample size is just two games and conveniently excludes other cup competitions, comes across as a bit dishonest.
