  1. to be fair Ferguson is quite useful as a defensive winger as well, given that he has spent a fair amount of his career playing there. In fact the birmingham forum I went on seem to think he'll be playing as a wing back. In the long run this loan move will probably provide us with a better player, but I agree that if we don't sign anyone we need him. If we have Gouffran and Ben Arfa as first choice in the wide roles then Ferguson would have to be 3rd of 4th choice and so likely to get a lot of games.
  2. Danny Graham's outscored Andy Carroll in the Premier League since he left us. Oh well. Carroll was playing for the champions. Hooper was playing for a team which finished 20th. Hooper played 39 games (20 goals), Carroll played 42 games (19 goals). At least make it a true comparison. It's fair to say that Andy Carroll struggled with professional football for a while. He really only kicked on after the brace against West Brom in the cup. Without researching it i'd hazard a guess that in the second half of the season Carroll scored quite a few more than Hooper.
  3. That's not the account. It's IndyKaila not IndyKalia. He's still active.
  4. Depends if Cisse leaves for me.... if he stays i'd be happy with just Remy and a winger. But if he leaves i agree we need two forwards. So you're the one that's turned Cisse's head.
  5. It's a Daily Mirror article based on a Sunday People article. I'm not going to shit the bed right now.
  6. He is a totally different player but he does also plays out wide left. We have a bid in, reported in several places that hasn't been denied yet either right? Depends on Pardews idea of what we need upfront. He seems to value strength, Power, Pace.. tricks and skills are secondary. Are you saying Gignac can play wide left? I've never heard that. He seems completely unsuited to that role.
  7. Assists as a lone stat is useless in any case, watching him last season his vision and ability on the ball is there to see, even when he was criminally under-used. True enough, something like chances created might be more useful. Harder to find though.
  8. I'm sorry but the poor number of assists is rubbish. In the league he got 4 assists in 10 starts, an assist every 2.5 matches. Let's compare that to the most creative midfielder in the league Juan Mata, 12 assists in 31 games, an assist every 2.58 matches. Now I know Marveux has about 8 more sub appearences but that probably evens out when he is taken off early. I'm not saying he is as creative as Mata, but that does clearly indicate his return on assists is actually really good for the football he has played.
  9. Really? He's comfortably our most creative passer of the ball. I think he's our only option as an attacking mid in a 4-2-3-1 other than your name sake who is obviously unproven.
  10. I think he probably is worth £8m myself. But i'd prefer other options. If we lost Cisse though I think that Bent would be ideal. I think at that point someone who would be proven to score goals in the premier league would be really important.
  11. Caulkin said yesterday that they had an 11 v 11 match and one of the two teams would be playing today (perhaps the team that played best). So maybe that's why the team is so varied.
  12. Indeed that's what I see happening. Except Remy isn't left side. Perhaps it's one out of those 3 plus someone like Sinclair or Ince (or some unnamed player from abroad). I could see that happening. I wouldn't say i'd be happy with that but i'd not be upset particularly. I think it's the best we can hope for.
  13. I'd be hugely disappointed if we just sign one striker. It's not that I can't see it happening, I just really think we're in for two attacking players.
  14. He was probably terrified of Dave giggsing him.
  15. I personally think it'd be all three or similar if we lose Cisse. Maybe i'm an optimist though.

    Loïc Remy

I don't think we'll sign those two unless we sell Cisse. Pardew preferred one up front for the most of last season and we won't have three top player for that one role. Remy offers the ability to play as a wide forward which we do need. I think we'll sign one centre forward and one wide forward. Maybe we might sign someone else if we get rid of some of the dross. I agree but this club usually goes for the best deal ahead of what position is more urgent. I agree but the best deal is not neccesarily the cheapest deal. Remy seems to be available for 8-9m, is a bit younger and a good season in the prem could see his value rocket. Bent is 6-8m, 28 and his value i only likely to fall.

  18. Fair enough. It might sound a bit stupid but I would be concerned about the effect on Colo if we sold Jonas.
  19. Yeah, "Come on Feel the Moyes" is a little bit rapey for me.
  20. Cisse gone if true? We surely couldn't have 3 good strikers. Remy would presumably play in a wide forward role. So: Ben Arfa Cisse Remy (Gouffran) (Gomis) (Obertan) Really need to sell Obertan and pick up another attacking option though.
  21. I'm pretty sure that is what he is getting at. If it is then I am mostly in agreement with him. We could stand to lose Gosling in midfield and the forward positions are the positions that need more players.
  22. For those who want a bit more info about the player this has a little bit of info: http://bleacherreport.com/articles/1447637-bafetimbi-gomis-scouting-lyons-freescoring-striker
  23. The problem for Dummett is that we have a younger full back who has played more games at a higher level who acts as backup for Santon. Ultimately though we need four full back options and only have 3. One of Tavernier or Dummett needs to be kept around for backup imo.
  24. I disagree that with Ben Arfa, Marveux, Gouffran and Jonas the wide areas are sorted. I think that Gouffran is decent in the wide forward role but I wouldn't really want him first choice there. I also am not confident about Marveux out wide. Lastly, Jonas has no place in an attacking role in our team at all. Additionally, if we are trying to only sign a couple of players (especially with the excuse of signing quality not quantity) i'd want us to be signing players that are better than those in our starting 11. I personally don't think Bent offers that. I think Remy does and I would be glad to sign him. I also think that signing Bent would help. But I certainly won't be delighted with just those two signings and think we'll regret it across the season.
