A shame indeed. But he's gone and now the job of replacing him....
-
He said last week that Newcastle is something you have to love and it is not something to make a profit on. He doesn't want to make money from the club, but neither does he want to spend all his wedge on players. Surely that is not too difficult to understand. he also said (when going on about trying to get new investors) that he puts his money in at the start of the season (and was trying to encourage them to do so too). reading between the lines it sounds like he puts some of his own money into the club (last year to pay off the debts for example) and is prepared to subsidise to some degree. With the level of debt being a surprise I would imagine it wiped out much of the intended funds for transfers last year. Not so sure about this year though....

He sounds like a great acquisition to me. the doom mongers can say all they like but we've made 2 decent signings and there will be more to come.
-
He said he'd wait unti now to talk and he's started talking.
-
Yip he did confirm that

A synopsis I've read elsewhere says that he doesn't want to buy for the sake of it - meaning that he is looking for better qulaity than we already have. We've apparently been knocked back by a few, but encouraging signs on a few as well. He's going for youngish players too. Not my take as I've not seen it - but a much more encouraging perspective methinks

Loayalty clauses and all that tend to have quite an impact in cases like this. However, if their club accepts a bid then the situation can change very quickly

It's Oliver, it's probably fabricated anyway. Consequently, I'd be wary of using this as a stick to beat the new board/ policy etc with

Wullie is spot on about all of the above. When the fee was mentioned today I raised a metaphorical eyebrow too.

If he's MD of Mott McDonald he must be minted. Is he after a 1% stake in the club?
-
A statement from West Ham directors have revealed Gomis is a top target. hilarious, as if they'd do that. and the article was from over a month ago - what a load of shite

I don't need pacifying as I'm not kicking off. 4 more jonas equivalents in the correct positions would do me. They don't need to cost the earth.

What happens on the pitch is important. It isn't all that is important though.

Supporting a football club is supposed to be fun isn't it? Sure we all take it seriously and are upset if we don't compete. However, I've just booked my train tickets up for the Bolton and Hull games and I'm starting to feel the frission of excitement already. If we're shite it will still be good craic. It's a win win situation. Let's just enjoy it, you only live once after all and I'd sooner do that as a toon fan than anything else

Aye crumpy, damn those current Argentinian internationals fresh off impressive performances against Brazil
-
I think it is the opinions of Liverpool fans we should be paying most attention to here (they almost unanamously say he's a decent purchase) rather than Bolton fans who seem a bit bitter (didn't they think twice about putting in a bid because he was nailed on to come here?). Give the lad a chance - this is another decent prospect for the squad in a postion where we desperately need it. I'd go along with the sentiment that I'd be fuming if he was the last midfielder that we signed this window but is a promising addition.

That titanic quote was about Sports Direct not us
-
And this may seem like an incredulous thing to say - but (deep breath) that Daily Mail 'insider' bloke' actually seems to know what he is talking about much of the time.
-
seems a bit unfair not to include the ones we've been linked to then!
-
Neither does Capel by the sound of things
-
Can't win to be fair. People were saying we needed a denial already. This was necessary imo
-
Pleased with these denials today. Should put the whole charade to bed. Until the next round of tabloid fabrications

Looks like he took a wrong turn on the way to Barcelona then. With that being his dream and all.
