We definitely need cover at LB and it is a problem that Jose is both young and good. He's unlikely to settle for being a second choice long term. But we are unlikely to be able to get anyone younger who is good enough to cover. I'm not totally certain that KK rates Jose. I can see him going for Warnock and him being first choice.

I agree we do need to be pragmatic, along with the long term view, and that means 2 or 3 good experienced players in key positions before the end of the window. However, I think the idea of buying young and hungry and talented is right.

Top post Bob. I, for what it is worth, am a glass half full kind of guy. 8th or 9th would represent good progress next season, as long as we have a slightly younger squad, drawing slightly more modest wages. This is a medium to long term job

Kaboul could turn out to be a decent player. Despite my reservations about Chimbonda's character he is a player of quality. Taino is a bit average. Overall these 3 will improve them and they'll be pleased enough. Spurs are definitely getting the best of the deal if the rumours of 23m quid are true though.

They probably realise they can't attract the top notchers but are throwing some money at improving. We on the other hand are looking to move from 12th to the top 6 and have the problem that we also can't attract the top notchers and aren't that willing to throw money at it!
