It's common sense that we can't immediately attain top 4 status. I think he'd make a decent defender in a lower level premiership team given a run of games. it wasn't all West ham and Birmingham with him you know. He was pretty solid at times but was all too often played out of position and rushed back from injury. A good solid defender in my view, just not quite up to the standard of a top team.
