What you're talking about is one of the most difficult things in elite club football to navigate and I think we're managing our player load better than last time. You want to question some of his decisions, his tactical setups not always working, his reactive subs, i'm there with you. You want to say there's an argument for him to lose his job because of a poor third of a season with a thousand factors and reasons why, after what he's given us, I think you want your head examined.

Describing a first trophy in a lifetime, where we had to beat Forest, Brentford, Chelsea, Arsenal (home and away) and then the eventual easy champions of the country in the final, achieved under the pressure of a second final in 3 years and against the best team in the country at the time, as "about par" is some statement like.

I'm confused. You said he gave you the happiest moment of your life and you're not downplaying it, after saying let's be real, it's not a major trophy and he might not be any good. So people ask what that's all about and we're being defensive and living in a bubble and have no objectivity? I've got that right? Well actually, my logic was to question you because after a first domestic trophy in 70 years, I had assumed that 100% of our fans would be pleased about it but you mentioned that the League Cup isn't a major trophy (I doubt the 250,000 people who lined the streets would agree but it's a take nonetheless), we were lucky to get CL and Eddie Howe might not be very good and PIF may be feeling negative as well.

I've watched him on various podcasts on YT in the past and haven't minded him, generally he used that space to defend Newcastle while listening to some awful smug tripe spouted by the Chelsea, Liverpool and City contingent. On his own, it's like he can't articulate at all and just rants and raves. Fair enough, in the heat of the moment, but gather yourself and make your points with a bit of calm integrity if you're going to try to produce thoughtful content. For my money, he's out for as much engagement as possible, which is a pity, he has a platform to do more.

Not to mention both FBs coming back to give huge tactical flexibility. Nobody wants an extended run of BDB at LB, it didn't work two years ago and it doesn't work now. He's a CB.

If you've been a fan for longer than the past 5 years, as we all have on here. I don't know how you can be anything other than delighted and amazed at what we've achieved under Howe. Wanting to bin that due to a potential down season (whose outcome is still far from known and could still yet be anything at all as last season proved), is a path to uncertainty and zero guarantees of anything as many other clubs have regularly shown. As a fan of close to 50 years, I can guarantee you it can be a whole lot worse than being in the QF of the league cup, cruising along in the CL and being a bit flat in the league. Once the injuries clear up, I am personally confident we get on a run. Maybe i'm a glass half full type.

Nothing you post about reflects any broader context at all, it's just "I want this" and "why can't we have that?" and "this other club whose revenue dwarfs ours go and get the best out there". In a vacuum, sure, you can want those things but they're not based in sensible reality. What exactly would satisfy you? What are you looking for?

I see a lot of people referencing 2 years ago, but back then we were actually exciting to watch, even though we fucked about with Burn at LB back then as well. We played some great stuff, scored loads of goals. This season, particularly away from home, we're just caving in game after game and not even against good opposition either. Needs this break to work it out somehow, not nearly good enough. On the point of him being "on thin ice" by a few, I personally find that suggestion short-term in the extreme and frankly terrifying to think about who we might bring in if the ownership caves.

This league campaign is a fucking mess.

Lad needs support and a bit of patience. The player I saw capable of shooting and crossing off either foot just hasn't shown up yet and it's frustrating to watch but I think he'll come good if given enough time.

Just felt sad and deflated watching it. A huge opportunity against a bad team to kick on and finally get our league season moving in the right direction and we fucked it.
