I agree and disagree. He needs to be more consistent in his performances and do less talking and improve on the pitch but seeing him unsettled, touted around all the ESL clubs to then eventually leave, probably with a depressed value, and tear it up for one of them would stick in the throat. Especially if we replace him with...who exactly? We've made a right pigs ear of getting the right RW in for years, I dread to think what would come through the door quite honestly. All that said...I've been really frustrated with him the past couple of years. The snarling, pacey, in-your-face winger from the Scouse Mackems has been replaced by this more cultured player who only performs when he feels like it, it seems. But I still wouldn't boo him because it's childish and achieves nowt IMHO

Fair although I don't know of a situation where doing it has ever helped anything or resulted in a positive outcome. All this will do is lead to more negative press articles for all our detractors to revel in and speculation on him leaving. Also hate seeing questions about it being put to Howe, it's shit stirring and is a right pain in the arse for him to answer. Fans get emotional in the moment, it's nothing new.

Booed off today according to someone in the presser. Whatever you think of his performance today, doing that is thick af imo.

Not sure what's worse the day like, the performance or the whiny, tedious "are we allowed to criticize Eddie yet" patter. I see plenty of good posts both in defense of him continuing as our manager and also valid critiques of today and other poor home results. Personally find very little redeeming about this league season and i'm a huge Eddie fan. Beaten twice by Liverpool with Ekitike scoring in both of course, beaten in the derby, loads of shit goals conceded, 5 home defeats with 3 conceded in 4 of those defeats, players all over the show as EH tries desperately to get a tune out of them on a consistent basis with little time to knit it all together between millions of games. Only the continued emergence of Hall, how well Thiaw has settled and a brilliant half a season from Miley in multiple positions (until the inevitable injury) give me any joy. It's a cup season so i'm trying to enjoy those games where possible. The league season is a right mess but I do see the context behind some of it. Can only hope for a quieter summer as far as losing star players go but last summer gave the template out to the filthy ESL clubs to use paid journalists to unsettle our best players so i'm not optimistic on that.

we're a mess defensively as a team like. Barcelona could put 4 or 5 past us without breaking a sweat.

Newcastle United vs. Everton: 28/2/26 @ 15:00 (No UK TV)

One of my least favourite fixtures of the season, always a grind of a game and they always seem to cause us problems -
Newcastle United 3-2 Qarabağ FK (24/02/26) | post-match from pg. 32

Probably go to Rio for rehab -
Manchester City 2-1 Newcastle United (21/02/26) | post-match from pg. 47

Another aggravating defeat in this fixture. Feel like every time we play here, we either get hammered or they're a bit shit on the day and it's close and we're not quite good enough to take advantage. Oh and the refs are shiiiiite every time -
Watching highlights from the Monaco vs PSG game. There's just empty seats everywhere and the parts of the stadium with fans appear to be all PSG fans, have they banned their own fans

The fat bloke at the start of Seven had more appetite on his final plateful

I understand the business side of a deal like that, but I think i'd rather drink bleach than ever do business with those utter wankers ever again, after last summer.
-
Imagine the stampede of clubs fighting over his services if we were ever stupid and impatient enough to get rid of this bloke due to a poor half season man.

Never know, might have them playing some crisp stuff

Think it encompasses Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, and Vermont from memory. Edit - quick Google, aye and I probably should have been sure like

I recognize i'm glass half-full when it comes to Eddie. The sum total of highlights in my supporting life has been promotion in 84, the KK years and a couple of CL seasons. That's about it for nearly 50 years until Howe came along. He kept us up, drove us up the table playing brilliant, savage football with the added bonus of shit-housing everyone and pissing off the big teams, dismantling teams along the way, CL twice and then a cup win. Something I thought i'd never ever see. He did this inside 4 years from a starting point of no investment in over a decade. We were years behind everyone. No wonder i'm glass half full, I don't understand how you couldn't be. This season has been hard though. After a rotten, desperate summer, the football finally got going, disrupted by stupid international friendlies right off the bat of course. It's been poor to bad, no argument really. We're poor in possession, the sparkle has largely disappeared, soft defensively, far too many goals conceded and we feel further away from the top 3 or 4 in terms of prospects than ever. So much context and nuance to it though and honestly, I just feel sad when I see EH defending another poor performance, shouldering most of the blame for every damn thing, unwilling to call out under-performing players because he knows better than to do that. I think if we stand by him, support him properly, re-think things strategically, actually do something tangible to up the revenue to get closer to those higher up the chain, we can continue to build and write this season off as an expected plateau point. Ultimately it comes down to this for me - If I knew of a coach who could come in, actually want to be at Newcastle, work with everyone at the club, work diligently within PSR/SCR, integrate himself with the city, spend perfectly and knit everything together with the cohesion and team spirit we've had for the bulk of the time EH has been here, i'd see the argument for change. I'm not suggesting we have EH here forever, his natural end will come and it might even be soon but until then, enough with the fucking negativity and get behind what he's built and wants to continue building.

Feel dirty rooting for City but that result has rescued my weekend. Fuck Liverpool, Ekitike, the rat, the lot of them.

Back to Eddie. Love this man and back him to the hilt really, with minor reservations about in-game management and substitutions that i've felt a bit frustrated by since early in his tenure. I do think he needs a good month off in the summer to fully recharge and maybe decide if he really needs all the aggravation. I worry about his physical and mental health, he carries the weight of everything on those shoulders. You know the bloke cares deeply, as much as anyone has and I think he deserves all our support, whether you're on the fence about him or not. If the answer to that question about returning is yes, come back and really have a good go next season but also give some thought as to how we can truly manage so many competitions. That's a complicated conundrum. I couldn't even pretend to know how to build a squad that can manage 3-4 competitions with excellence at all times. I'd like to see anyone else do it, within the constraints we work these days (PSR etc). Give the bloke the help he needs man. Between the CEO being MIA, the DoF leaving and the rat business, it was a fucking shit show of a summer. Wouldn't it be nice to have a summer where none of that is present and we can get our business done and the time on the training ground to have the squad where he wants it? It feels to me, this season, like we've decided that unlike in 23/24, we can't play that way with intensity and avoid injuries. Trouble is, we've become a lukewarm version of what made us so good, and still haven't avoided injuries anyway. That's got to be massively frustrating for all concerned because in essence, I think the logic was sound but the implementation has clearly been flawed. A huge summer beckons, we need a review at all levels, including the coaching staff and a very hard look at the players and who needs to be moved on for their own good.

If only this energy could be channeled towards supporting when the players actually need it, you know, outside of CL nights and big cup games. You never know, might even help.

Really good I assume? Will be over in April and always on the lookout to try somewhere new

Is this in Newcastle? Edit - After a quick Google, aye, looks canny
