Fair but "should have won a couple" in about the last 30 visits ain't great like . Lost count of the 0-3 beatings we had in the early 2000s. Still we did get a couple of draws, I remember us scoring twice in the last 10 to get a 2-2 one year so you never know.

Was at the last league win at Anfield, 2-0 in 93 and it was absolutely brilliant, but they were crap in that era and we were really building with KK. Still, haven't won here in the league since then, 32 fucking years. I mean I know for the majority of that time they've been better than us but it's like they never ever have an off day/night against us. You definitely can't fluke a result here, especially since they get every decision and seem to get as much time as they need to get a goal if they need one, so you have to be nigh-on perfect in every way.

Fair comment, although I do think the Championship is pretty poor this year and worse than i've seen in the past. Your comment about Ipswich getting back-to-back promotions only serves to highlight there's virtually no gap between the 2 leagues at all so you've got essentially a league 1 side, with a few talented young players, trying to compete in the PL. It's no wonder they're getting obliterated most weeks. The bigger/wider problem, the gap between the leagues, means that promoted teams are almost exclusively going straight back down and that isn't to be celebrated generally, they're all going to end up like Norwich eventually, or worse. It only serves to exacerbate the status quo which we all like to complain about with regards to the big 6 or whatever. What the fix is, I have no idea since the spread of wealth and overall rules regarding spending vs revenue aren't going away.

Aye. Just in the past couple of weeks, Mackems have needed a last minute goal to draw at home to mid-table Watford and lost twice in 5 days this week, one of those to a team 4th bottom. Even if they somehow come up through the playoffs, what's the point? They'll end up with 15 points max. It's a wider problem in that the gap between the two leagues has never been bigger and it's only growing.

Competitive without a doubt, just so low on quality it's barely above league 1. Look at the game Birmingham gave us in the cup as compared the Mackems last year. Depends on what you want in a league but imo, the teams in contention to come up should be miles better than those in 15th or 16th and should be in a position to compete when promoted. As proven by the 3 that came up last year, the gap is ridiculous, a chasm.

Feel a bit for Ipswich like. Waited 20 years to be back in this league and despite a smattering of canny young players, it's come a bit too soon for them. They're just out of their depth and getting slaughtered most weeks, nowhere near good enough defensively as a team
