You and your “top four player” paradigm again. If we were to take your view on this our squad only counts three, perhaps four top four players, yet over the last year and a half Eddie Howe had players like Almiron, like Joelinton and like Burn compete at top four level, whereas various Chelsea managers had players like Enzo Fernandez, Joao Felix, Reece James and Raheem Sterling performing like midtable players, quite literally. Almiron has a place in our system and has contributed significantly to our performance level over the past 1.5 year. This may be hard for you to grasp looking at his attributes, strengths and weaknesses, but football is not just a game of technical skill.

My comment referred to that specific point and wasn’t aimed specifically at you. It’s perfectly fine to say Almiron can be upgraded upon, it’s not to suggest he carries no threat at all in games, be it in general or the Liverpool game specifically.

I think we can al agree he’s frustratingly one footed and can spoil promising moments. Where we differ is that some can’t see beyond that and appreciate that pretty much every game some offensive things he does do come off to create some of our best chances, and that beyond that he offers a hell of a lot in terms of pressing, which is how Howe wants his team to play. We will hopefully upgrade Miggy in time, but people who think we’d replace him easily or without spending a king’s ransom are deluding themselves.

Truth by told I don’t watch PSV that much, but what I have seen, especially in recent weeks, I do like. He’s quite direct and two footed, but he’s still young and quite raw, so I’d expect him to come in as a Almiron understudy that we’d hope to develop in similar fashion to Livramento and Hall, which is fine by me.
