  1. Jack “who!?” Ross it is: https://www.stmirren.com/news/club/club-news/1890-club-statement-3
  2. I think it has the potential to be very good for them. A clean slate with the debt position is obviously good news whichever way you look at it and effectively means Short has written off some 200m he invested over the years to have them punching over their weight and enjoy 10 years in the bottom half of the Premier League. If the new owners somehow manage to offload their high earners, getting whatever transfer fees they can get for the likes of Khazri, Ndong, etc. to pay off the running high end contracts and build a team off their youngsters and a couple of freebies/cheap additions capable of challenging for the league one title whilst not incurring more costs than they get in they could be in a much better position in twelve months time, back in the Championship with a cheap squad and primed for another takeover or some other investor getting onboard, which is what their new owners will be banking on. If they fail to get back up on the first attempt and/or get their finances in order really quickly they're headed for administration. Their new owners are basically playing high stakes poker with their club's future.
  3. Gets proven wrong inside two minutes
  4. Reading that you really sense they think like your average fan instead of like directors of a football club. The best players will just give tour club a wide berth and sign elsewhere and you will be left with plodders who are happy to be there and incapable of stepping up a gear. We won’t see them back in the Premier League for a long time going on that.
  5. Short said in his statement this was the best of several offers for the future of the club (and presumably himself). Makes you wonder what the other offers were. They’re basically gambling on hitting the ground running and convincing others to get on board once their own money runs out (which won’t take long). I can’t imagine any bank or lender giving them a loan so without another major investor inside a year or two they could be in real trouble.
  6. We would never have been relegated if he had run the club properly from the begining. He is a moron and has surrounded himself with morons. He’s added 75m to our debt directly on the back of his catastrophic running of the club resulting in multiple relegations. This is all on him, yet the club (and any potential new owner) will have to pay for it.
  7. Genuinely one of the worst refereeing decisions I have ever seen. He saw what had happened and made totally the wrong call on how to punish it.
  8. Never. A goalkeeper handling outside of the box to stop a goalscoring opportunity is as red as it gets
  9. As a young father this doesn’t bear thinking about. RIP and all the best for his wife and kids.
  10. Their prospective new owner has sold his old club Eastleigh FC, which was a requirement for the takeover: https://www.eastleighfc.com/statement-update-on-ownership. Looks like their takeover is about to be completed then. They're jammy cunts for getting a clean slate without debts, but they have to hope that the investors behind this deal have the will and the means to cover their massive losses for the foreseeable future and get them back up the leagues sharpish or they could be in far greater trouble than they are now.
  11. A peace offering? By saying he will “continue to ensure that every penny generated by the club is available to him” he’s basically saying Rafa was wrong for suggesting promises were broken during last summer’s transfer window. Great way to head into this one.
  12. It made perfect sense man. I just think we can’t ignore how mediocre he was pre turn of the year in a POTS vote. Most would have gladly seen the back of him in January. Still, deserves all the more credit for his resurgence, but let’s not go overboard. Without Lascelles leadership and defensive qualities we would have gone down this season, no doubt in my mind.
  13. I totally get Lascelles getting the vote like. He's been so obviously influential that you can't ignore him. For me it's probably a case of Lascelles' consistency at a lower level and leadership vs Diame's consistency at a much higher level, but for not quite as long. Diame, brilliant as his second half of the season was, has been anything but consistent over the course of the season. He’s gone from regularly being dropped to being arguably our most in form player. God knows how he shows up after the summer. Our MVP has to be Lascelles. What a fucking great season he’s had When I said 'consistent but for not quite as long' I meant that he's been consistent since he turned his form around at the turn of the year. Since then he hasn't had anything below a 7/10 performance in any match imo. Aye, but in a Player of the Season thread I would have thought the time span to judge would be the full season, over which Diame has been very inconsistent. I would gladly give him Player of the Second Half of the Season though.
