  1. That Besiktas kit is lush. Is it their official one? Wait, Sunderland have dafuqbet as their kit sponsor now?
  2. If Mike Ashley ever leaves it will be for however much he can get for it (based on buyer and seller evaluation and how the negotiation process plays out). I would imagine the fact that there is no corporate tax due on the loan part is only a minor part of it, and certainly not a reason for Ashley to somehow lower his asking price. He will want whatever he values his shareholding in the club at plus his loan repaid. The latter does not impact the valuation of the former.
  3. 6 million clause being mentioned, and Derby bound apparently. Wouldn't mind us taking a chance on him. It's certainly a position of urgent need, and if McClaren is confident he can make the step up we should trust his judgement.
  4. How exactly does it benefit Newcastle United that the loan (that he more or less doubled incidentally) provides Ashley a way of getting money out of the club without paying taxes or that he has less liability for capital gains in the event that he sells up?
  5. I just Dennis Wise'd Tom Ince's goals for Derby and I want him now

  7. Was Ince a regular under McClaren? Seems like he has been linked every transfer window for the past 3 years or so.
  8. I genuinely struggle to think of one good thing Mike Ashley has done for Newcastle. I may have Alzheimer as suggested by Gibson there, or it could be that Ashley really hasn't done anything deserving of praise.
  9. I would genuinely be worried if McClaren was interested in Bas Dost. All the talk (not from himself admittedly) about a better brand of football than Pardew's would go right out of the window if he's seriously after a 6 ft 5 forward with average technical ability. And I thought Luuk de Jong might have what it takes to succeed here, so make of that what you will.
  10. Bas Dost is your typical forward going on a hot streak (like wor Papiss in his first half season). To splash big cash at him based on his goal flurry earlier this year would be a massive mistake. Six months ago Wolfsburg were keen to get rid of their expensive squad player and wiling to sell or even loan him out for peanuts to Feyenoord. I work in Rotterdam, and even the Feyenoord fans here were not convinced, and this coming from a club in dire need of offensive reinforcements. Trust me, whoever spends 10m or more on Bas Dost may as well flush it down the toilet. He's very tall, I'll give him that.
  11. Algemeen Dagblad, actual newspaper as I understand it. Yep, one of our biggest
  12. Why? Jan Vennegoor of Hesselink Mk II

  14. I will not leave before we win something <> I will leave after we've won something. In answer to the question, I would celebrate like a madman.
  15. How does I am not leaving this football club until we have won something equate to "I want this club to win something and will do everything within my power to make it happen" FFS? To me, it simply means "this club hasn't won anything for 60 years, so I will be here forever harvesting it, and may even stay in the unlikely event that the club win something under my watch"
  16. Smoke and mirrors, we've just hired a manager who was sacked by a championship side 2 weeks ago The reaction to this has been fascinating from a psychological perspective. Just goes to show the massive damage the four years of Pardew (and Carver) has done to the self respect of our fan base. Have to hand it to Ashley in a way, how he is slowly but surely changing the entire fabric of our club, including its fans.
  17. What does "give him a chance" mean really? I doubt many people will bring their Sack McClaren bedsheets to the first home game of the season, or cancel their season ticket exclusively on the back of this appointment. Of course he will get a chance to prove if he can make things work and he will be judged on performances and results, just like any other football manager. However, giving him a chance shouldn't mean that he is beyond valid criticism for me. I'm beyond giving Mike Ashley a chance at this stage, which makes it that much harder to be truly enthusiastic about anyone who associates himself with them and sings from the same hymn sheet, but as most people I am willing to see how things pan out before getting the proverbial knives out whilst reserving the right to call it as I see it, when I see it. That's the maximum I can muster I'm afraid for a manager who in reality shouldn't be anywhere near a club aiming for "top 8 in the Premier League" at this stage of his career.
  18. That said, Nathan Wood
  19. This will go wrong very quickly and very spectacularly. This is Newcastle United, it's what we do.
  20. If he had any balls he would tell them to f*** off and speak to any journalist he wants on top of contractual obligations.
