  1. This cunt has really signed for us in the end then?
  2. We've ended up chasing him longer than actually having him at the club. Wonder if things will go better for Thauvin.
  3. Mbemba is not a right back, so to play him out of position to bring in Willo is just sheer madness, especially if it means you drop our only actual right back and best player. The whole idea is just
  4. No surprise if he's just got sick of pumping money in each year and they're still s****. Situation with Ashley is completely incomparable in terms of what Short has put into the club and what Ashley has taken out (in "free" advertising). They're running each other very close for cluelessness when it comes to football to be fair.
  5. Agreed. Taylor's biggest problem is not even his lack of a brain, it's the fact that he spends at least half of the season on the touchlines. Seeing as he's currently fit and we are (predicatably) getting rinsed by headers, he should be in instead of Colo, who is a long way past his best now and should never have been offered an extension, let alone been appointed captain.

    Adam Armstrong

Good. I've had them telling me they'll be playing us with Armstrong in their side next season. Should probably inform them that the likelihood of us selling him decreases by about 1400% should we get relegated. It would take a decade for that to sink in tbh. By which time he'll be captaining England having scored 70 goals in 60 internationals.
  7. Agreed mojo. That decision alone has the potential to become a serious millstone around his neck.
  8. Why? We need Cisse's goals, but we can't afford to leave Mitrović out. We need Cisse's average of 7 PL goals over the past 3 seasons while contributing next to nothing to our general play?
  9. Another worry, just two games in admittedly, are his subs. Not sure what he is thinking at times, but he doesn't seem to read the game as most people would.
  10. I didn't watch the game, but it appears our midfield two of Colback and Anita with Wijnaldum in an advanced position once again failed to both protect the defence and provide much offensive threat. Baffling when you consider the wealth of other options at his disposal, and that's before we even get to Obertan getting almost two complete games whilst the likes of Ayoze, Aarons, De Jong and Mitrovic are feeding off scraps. Huge warning signs there imo.
  11. A bit much perhaps that, upon re-reading

  13. Nice little tonic for those saying McClaren was worse than Pardew (at the time of his appointment). Did anyone on here say that? Cronky doesn't count. I know I responded to a fair few comments along the lines of 'It's another Pardew', 'another English dinosaur'. Anyway, hopefully this better style of play is what we see every week. How are those the same thing? What I, and a few others, said was that Steve McClaren was an unambitious appointment with a very patchy record. Not the significant upgrade the club should have gone for, and I stand by that. Not sure if it was you or not, but the main gripe for me was people saying he was another Pardew in terms of style of football, which is just plain wrong. I also don't think he failed at Derby but I guess that's open to debate. did anyone say this at all? the closest i remember is ronaldo saying that his boro mates hated mclaren and that the football was boring and s*** under him...that's still a very long way from saying he's anything like pardew Yes. Quite a few actually. Such as? Do you want me to name names? EDIT: Just go back in the thread and look. yes i want you to name names as you've made the accusation, i'm not doing your f***ing work for you Have a look at pages 31, 32 and and 63 for example. Are you on a wind up? There's two posters on those three pages combined that have likened McClaren to Pardew without even a reference to a similarity in style of football. If this is the best you can do you may as well admit you made it up and apologise for being in the wrong.
  14. Seen this point made a few times now. Hoe much of an unknown do people think Obertan is to managers who have worked in England for the past fee years, especially one who may have known for the past six months that he was taking over so had all the time in the world to do his homework?
  15. Quite worrying that he's said that about Obertan. Puts into question his player judgement, the way he is being backed or possibly both.
  16. I agree with the sentiment, but you don't remember Pardew ever discussing things with Carver or Stone during the game? Really?
  17. It was very clear in the Southampton game that McClaren and Cathro work quite closely together during the game. I think the plan is for them to do a role reversal in a few years time, with maybe McClaren replacing Carr as well as mentoring Cathro as he takes his first steps in management.
