  1. His agent is in some kind of bother apparently. Being investigated for the actual player presentation being performed by somebody without the required (legal) qualifications. Source: http://www.vi.nl/nieuws/224731/KNVB-onderzoekt-makelaars-Anita-Poepon-en-Slijngard.htm
  2. I've genuinely not seen much of him, but even when I watched Swansea last season he was hardly miles above the rest. What are the stand out attributes that make him a 12 million pound player? To be quite fair, £12m for a player who was fundamental to the way Swansea played under Rogers (i.e. 30+ passes sideways/backwards per move) is a no-brainer, as Rogers can guarantee that someone in the middle of the park will do what he wants. That's a fair point I suppose, and it could be construed as the Liverpool owners backing their new manager in implementing a different style of play, but it would also pretty much mean last year's significant investment in Henderson and/or Adam is pretty much down the toilet (similar to the Carroll investment being pretty much a write off after Rodger's loaning out comments). That makes it a huge gamble if you'd ask me, because the success of the move is completely dependent on Rodger's ability to get Liverpool results playing his preferred style of play (possession at all cost), which is far from guaranteed as NUFC have proven last season how effective a defensive, direct counter attacking approach can frustrate it. From the perspective of the Liverpool owners, I would only sanction this move if one or both of Henderson and Adam could be sold to pay for this deal, and I would also have asked how Rodgers planned to make use of the tools already at his disposal when they interviewed him for the job.

He's got a British passport. Ah, that must be it. I know statistics are hardly the be all and end all, but in this link a Liverpool fan has compared Allen to Henderson, Adam and Modric. To me, he doesn't seem a step up from the former 2 based on these stats: http://www.theliverpoolword.com/2012/07/liverpool-transfer-target-joe-allen-what-would-he-bring-to-lfc/

  5. Is he really that good? From the little I've seen he seems tidy in possession but not much of a threat going forward. Seems like a lot for Henderson mk 2.
  6. Luc Castaignos. Available from Inter for a reasonable fee. FC Twente in hot pursuit, but haggling over the transfer fee. Good young player with plenty of potential, who would possibly be willing to be third choice. Additional advantage being we get to frustrate Twente a little (after the Luuk de Jong saga) and it will do us no harm in the Douglas negotiation if we have the option to retract our interest as long as they are willing to work with us on Douglas (Twente are desperate for a good striker after they've sold De Jong). He has rejected QPR though, so may not be willing to come to England or somewhere where he wouldn't be first choice, but we won't know until we try.

Were they not out of the league for a significant amount of that time though?

Alan Shearer - 260 Sunderland - 214 To be fair to the mackems top flight football didn't start in 1992.
  9. Colo told Pards he's now a striker, and took the shirt off cisse Fair enough. Captain knows best I suppose..
  10. Fyp. See Marveaux on for Amalfitano, Jonas on for Obertan, Abeid and Bigirimana on for Gosling and Tiote and Cisse on for the 2nd half. Experiment. Is that just a guess? Prefer to see Amalfitano central, some nice touches but looked completely out of place on the wing against Monaco. Just what i'd like to see given the starting line-up and the bench. Will be an interesting run out, i know what you mean about Amalfitano but i'd like to see a bit more of Vuckic through the middle in dangerous areas. This season is where he needs to push on and if he is to be this "wonderkid" he has to nail his position down. I think he's wasted on the left, reminds be in ways of a young, greener RVP. Van Persie was far, far ahead of Vuckic at this age..
  11. This. Not one credible source has ever reported this as far as I know.
  12. Started today. Should be good news for us, as it means Ba and Cisse should be back to their best soon after the season has kicked off.
  13. Ah, wasn't his usual twatter line though, so wasn't sure
  14. Anderlecht? You ARE Lee Ryder aren't you?
  15. You can also waste a lot trying to find decent strikers in the bargain basement. Lets not forget we've done exceptionally well in the transfer market. Complete opposite of what we're used to. By the way... you can add Everton's Jelavic to your list too. Done well, he has
  16. What an utter embarrassment of a statement that is..
