As much as American sports is a closed shop, at least all the teams there play by the same rules. The new UEFA rules where X% of your revenue can be spent on wages/transfers is just a salary cap by another name. However everyone is working with a different cap, having a league or UEFA limit would be a start. Of course teams that generate huge revenues (Real, Man U etc), might see it as limiting their spending so you'd have to balance against that. Though it might allow Man U to finally pay off all their debt!
