Loving the fact that the fans are going mental tbh. So they should. Utter, utter, utter shite.
-
Richards coming in aswell. God knows why he chose to play fucking Phil Neville over Richards. Who are Chelsea gonna pay £20m for? Phil Neville or Micah Richards? Not a huge fan of Downing, but might aswell play him there because Lennon was totally ineffective down the left, and was so in one of Spurs' recent games.
-
Only injuries can force McClaren into picking the right team. Sounds familiar.
-
Difference being, we wouldn't be buying him.
-
Bramble was like £4.5m.

Assessment of current squad and what needs to be done!

Well he's probably leaving, Man Utd aren't bothered whether he stays or goes. Just depends whether or not he wants to stay in the Premiership. I bet a £5m bid for Heinze could go a long way... -

Domi. I liked him. -
Which is why I can't be arsed going all the way over to watch them anymore. That and the shocking treatment of spectators at Kingston Park. What's that all about?
-
I'm not so sure about Distins attitude, having left the club in the past. PSG were asking too much. He wanted to stay if i recall correctly.
-
Would have liked Distin, as said in a couple of other threads. --- Fantastic news on Owen, really really good. I suppose this is a bit early? Which is why i'm still cautious. We've played 18 months without him in the team, i don't think the final month or so of this season is going to matter, especially with nowt to play for, if it's going to hinder his rehabilitation. Great news, undoubtedly, but i'd rather see him playing at Kingston Park before St James'. And MJ, England fans can fuck off.

As for Baines - no brainer. No other player who i want more this transfer window. -

Don't think anyone can deny he's a better player than Onyewu though. I also like the fact that he gives us proper cover at left back. Two for the price of nothing. Only downside is his age and he may be considered 'over the hill' and 'looking for his last pay package'. Harsh on Onyewu after only 5 games tbh. Distin was shit when he played for us, and now he's probably risen to 'decent'. Surely we can do better. Distin was alright! Thing is, he's no world beater but he's a decent player who had leadership skills. Something we lack so crucifyingly in the backline - leadership. An organiser. Taylor's too rash to be a good organiser, atleast for now anyway. Distin would be a canny signing on a free i reckon, providing we get someone else with him. I did say Luisao and Distin. And to Skryp2nit3, Distin's 29. Hardly 'over the hill'. -
Just waiting for the season to end. The love's officially still there. I'll still be pissed off if we lose.

As do big money signings. £8m + signing on fee + wages or Signing on fee + wages ... which one would you prefer? -
Cos 14 Premiership matches ain't enough to improve yourself.

Enigmatic. Don't see a lot wrong with that in fairness. -
True that, he actually looked pretty decent in those few games. There was one in particular, might have been West Brom where I was quite impressed. Was absolute dogshit this season though. Played two games last season i think. One against West Brom, coincidentally the second worst team in the league, and did well. The second against Birmingham, coincidentally the third worst team in the league, and was awful. --- Agree with the idea about the loaning out of players. But with out ability in the transfer market? And with our injury record? Wishful thinking i reckon.

Decent assessment, Slugworth - wouldn't disagree with much of that. All players to bring in are pretty much the same as what i'd like aswell. Though wanted to comment on this... Is Glenn Roeder a good manager? Is Terry MacDermott a good assistant manager? Is Lee Clark a good coach? No. They just 'know the club'. Bored of the sentiment. Get rid. --- Would get rid of the following: Stephen Carr Craig Moore Titus Bramble Olivier Bernard Matty Pattison Albert Luque The priority for me is left-back, absolutely no doubt about it. If i was to select one area of the team that is the weakest, and has been for years, it would be wing-back every time - but i feel that we now have a more than adequate solution for the right hand side, in Nobby. On the left however, for years we've paid little money and got nothing players. This needs to be sorted out now - we can't be pissing away silly little sums for rubbish players anymore. Time to sort this out. LB - Leighton Baines. £6-8m The next priority for me, after left-back, is undoubtedly centre-back. If we're going to be bringing in one very good defender, we need to bring in another, because one just won't sort us out. With the departures of both Moore and Bramble (with a bit of luck) inevitable, ideally we'd like to see two centre-halves come in, which is more than possible what with the freebies floating around. I agreed with Roeder's sentiment about loaning Edgar and Huntington out next season, but i think that's wishful thinking given our recent transfer window failures. Bramble will probably end up staying aswell. But it would be possible to bring two in - pay for one and snap up another. This, ideally, is what i'd like to see. Plus, someone to bring on the likes of Taylor and Ramage aswell. CB - Luisao. £5-6m CB - Sylvain Distin. Free Now, the striker situation comes into play. For me, the strike department isn't the number one priority, whereas for many others it is. Not forgetting that we're expecting Sibierski to sign on for another 37 years, but Shola and Owen will be back and i think Dyer should firmly be considered as a forward, and a forward only next season. One other striker would be handy, but if we so typically go and splash away another big bulk of cash, on a 'big name' striker that we simply don't need - i'll be frustrated. Spend the money where it's needed to be spent. ST - Mark Viduka. Free I'm putting this one as the last priority, but when the transfer window opens, we should immediately be snapping this player up. With Parker enigmatic, Emre's future uncertain, Butt getting on and Dyer erratic - i reckon we could do with a centre-mid. A box-to-box centre-midfielder is just what we need for our first team, i reckon. This player would fit in to our set-up i reckon, and atleast would be an excellent squad player. CM - Steve Sidwell. Free Five signings, three freebies. Three very good frees i reckon. Those five there is the minimum that i would be on the lookout for. If the funds/time/awareness from manager is available, then a right-winger and a right-back would be handy aswell, because we'll need cover for Milner and Nobby cannot play every game in two positions. Personally, if we were to go for those two other positions, i'd like to see us go in for Glen Johnson and Giles Barnes. Two young but quality right-sided players. -
Luisao - big, chunky, no nonsense. Only ever heard good things about him, and saw him vs Man Utd and had a very good game. Regular in the heart of Brazil's defense n'all, so can't be that bad! No nowt about Nelson. As far as wing-back goes, i beg that we go for someone proven with known quality, no more gambles for goodness sake. Get it right.
-
Actually like the sound of this tbh. Usually televised n'all.
-
More prestegious than the Intertoto.
-
Seen him play then? Fucking hell I wouldn't be interested anyway tbh! Get someone in that is proven quality. Sick of us signing shitty crap wing-backs for nothing money; that turn out to be exactly that. Shitty and crap and worth nothing. Get wing-back sorted properly for once.
-
took over a team built mostly by Pardew, on the up. He failed at Man city because he couldn't take the pressure, and don't kid yourself, it won't last, its just a first season surprise, which happens all the time and is no different to Wigan last year, and the mackems under monkey heed who then got it spectacularly wrong, just when the board started backing him too Yup! Like Wigan, like West Ham, like Sunderland, like Ipswich, like Birmingham, like, like... Reading will do nowt in this league in years to come.
-
Not after that transfer window, Glenn - no!
