  1. I mean we're not owed some explanation as if we've been horribly hard done by. Certainly not from Eddie Howe.
  2. Why should anyone have to pander to the fans at this point? No one at the club owes the supporters a thing imo.

I can't agree that the point doesn't make sense. I don't necessarily agree with it but there's definitely logic to it. We're not at the point of being totally desperate for a CB, as useful as it would be right now. If we're taking our chances on getting the perfect person in the next transfer window rather than getting the 'wrong' one in now, I can live with that choice.

But he's not saying that we can't spend anything, he's saying it's absolutely crucial to spend it right in the era of PSR.

You can not believe the reasons, but how don't they make sense?

Yeah, pretty much exactly what I wanted to hear really. The most important thing is that they're all on the same page, if begrudgingly.
  7. Generally agree - certainly when it comes to the PL - but concede that it would have very little gravitas if those leagues weren't represented, and kinda undermine anyone's victory. Olympiacos winning it last year having overcome the 4th best team in England in the semis was a great thing.
  8. That wasn't a real signing, just PSR chicanery.
  9. That they lost to Servette tonight hopefully provides a hint that they'll treat it with the contempt required to get them dumped out a la Spurs a couple years back. Why a pity re the other two? Fiorentina very lucky by the looks of it, incidentally.
  10. If that helps you sleep, mate! In all seriousness, my response to SUPERTOON was mildly facetious - clearly the lack of signings is disappointing. But I think admitting that you've no idea how good one of our signings is definitely supports my general argument that, ultimately, time will tell (... though probably not a lot of time in this case).
  11. Almost as if you can't judge a transfer window until some of the games, results and performances which follow it have happened.
  12. Because he never played for us.
  13. Anderson is average and would've been something like sixth choice CM, and we haven't lost a thing in Minteh cos he wasn't here last season (or ever). We've brought by in Kelly and Osula. That at the very least evens us out, doesn't it? If you're being unkind. I'd argue that we're very (barely noticeably) stronger. Ruddy is probably better than Karius n'all.
  14. Did you rate Karius or what...

That's not as interesting as 🧨 TENSIONS RISE, mind.

I wouldn't say we're necessarily owed that explanation but if that is the case then I would absolutely accept it. In fact I'd actually admire it and it would fire me up no end when it comes to hoping for a good season. I love the team we've got already.
  17. I'm not equating returning players to new signings but if we avoid another injury crisis then we're not 'standing still' anyway; not in the same way we were in the Anita and Remy summers. For starters, there's £52million worth of talent whose introduction to the team was basically postponed for a season. It's not beyond the realms of possibility that everyone is on the same page behind the scenes: content to work with the brilliant team we've already built, take the PSR 'win' and splurge later when our top targets are truly attainable.
  18. Yes I was just thinking how much this season compares to 2019/20.
  19. It's disappointing news, no doubt. Hopefully the Hope story is exactly how it appears: emotive, shit-stirring tripe designed to provoke maximum engagement. Thankfully, as a tabloid hack, that is his go-to, so I'm happy to take it with a massive pinch of salt. It's shite if we're not gonna sign anyone else but in isolation there really shouldn't be any need to disasterise. We've picked up a couple of handy squad players and retained literally everyone who matters. If there's a serious fall-out between the key players over this then it would be disproportionate, imo.
  20. Wild how this gets used as a stick to beat any NUFC employee with.
  21. San Marino league is 55th in the European coefficient and Pennarossa finished dead last in 2023/24, conceding 96 times. Only talking top divisions there though, and that's just Europe. And probably not professional. Glad I could help.
  22. Picking up away wins with two full-backs at centre-back is very good going tbf. Jokes aside, fucking fair play to Krafthy. What a dependable lad; don't think he's really put a foot wrong in the last couple games.
  23. I can't believe how competent a Newcastle United team can be at penalties, btw. 3/4 won under Eddie, isn't it? Even the one we missed, I'd put it down moreso to being a very good save than a bad pen. Bruno's and Gordon's in particular were excellent. We were very composed against Blackburn too iirc.
