Top three anyone?
-
What is the quote in reference to? Is it a chant I've somehow been unaware of? Also why the yellow and green? Class that he got recognised, like. Great to see.
-
Fair enough. In my defence I only flicked it on for a few minutes before HT and have since been shooed away but sure you can have this one.
-
Really though? I've had a flick around and all I can find is Sane. You're probably right but it's not something I've noticed. It's a good thing anyway, looking forward to our version next season.

Nice to see some real long sleeves (Hojlund). Had begun to think they were confined to the history books.

Just a reminder that outright and unprovoked abuse isn't acceptable on here and has generally always resulted in a ban. Save it for the Twitter and Reddit cesspits.

Just watched the highlights back to soak in our goals again. Fuck me what a pair of absolute pearlers. Stupendous goals; there's enough just in those two finishes to give us encouragement for the near future. We've so much quality, we just need to get back into our groove. That assist from De Bruyne though. His right foot should be on display whenever he's not using it. Just unreal. Naughty finish from Bobb n'all tbf, the bastard.

It's not implausible that the injuries never clear up in totality, but in the second half of the season we are playing significantly fewer games with longer breaks in-between; that's a far better context for returning players to alleviate the pressure on those who are 'fit'. Hopefully we're going into the run-in with plenty availability.

Just like post-Liverpool, there's no new conclusions to be made about the manager. The odds were massively stacked against us tonight, just as they were in New Year's Day; we weren't equipped to collect any points from those two games. Maybe one at a stretch. It sounds a bit small-time, but the important thing was that we saw a marked improvement in our performance and we didn't take a fresh sledgehammer to the confidence.
-
Yeah, that tweet is where I'm at too. I felt absolutely sick all day at the prospect of us not being competitive here; all of the encouragement and goodwill from last weekend wpuld be eradicated by an annihilation. Agonising though it was, that didn't happen, and thankfully Forest still looks like the nadir. We were decent tonight, well in the game, and just about worth the lead after two fantastic goals. We lost but it wasn't an horrendous loss, late gut-punches notwithstanding. We're clearly on the mend, we just can't make any decent fucking subs.
-
Just another truly vile gut-punch. Good effort but always likely to end up in a defeat given their pressure and our complete inability to affect the game from the bench. Sighhhh.
-
Oh will you give it a rest.

Come on lads.

Unreal

Painful watching

Probably gonna be ugly this. Disgrace that we didn't get a fk mind.

Matter of time.

Haven't watched it but you've just described ndy Sixsmth.

Been a good signing for them, Palmer. Guess City's main motivation for selling was FFP? Seems weird they'd let go of such an obvious talent.

My opinion hasn't changed a huge amount over the course of the season. The top 4 hasn't been on the cards at any point; I'd argue that it would be an even bigger achievement than last season to do it again. Initial prediction was a pessimistic 9th which was supported by our slow start. Autumn made me think we'd be in the race for top 6 (with fleeting visions of Jamaal Lascelles holding the European Cup), but it's gradually become abundantly clear that there's no guarantees of anything this season. And that's fine; we'd played out of our skins for 18 months and it's caught up with us, further impacted by freak injuries (unrelated to cumulative over-exertion), the Tonali situation and the apparent inability to meaningfully reinforce the squad in the January window. If there wasn't the 'self-inflicted' pressure to qualify for Europe again then no one would be crying over an 8th placed finish. It's an extremely competitive league this season; literally everyone above the mostly awful bottom 3 are capable of very good results.
-
Don't think he's 'totally unproven' at all. He's physically capable of playing a game of Premier League football and has contributed to plenty of positive results, so - at the very least - we've definitely missed his ability to alleviate pressure on those ahead of him in the pecking order.
-
Yep. Anderson is an 'underrated' absence too.
-
Said it numerous times now but Murphy has been an enormous loss for us this season. He's such a key component of our pressing game, whether he's on the pitch or the bench. Put Willock and Barnes' absences on top of that and it's a disaster.
