    Joelinton

Unbelievably fucking annoying. Bad news about Joelinton too.
  2. Correct, they were in the Europa League.
  3. £110grand presumably a canny wedge for Maidstone, good for them. Maybe Mark Clemmit will get to squeeze Elokobi's biceps on Football Focus again, too. They've landed on the obvious picks there I guess, though Liverpool-Norwich and Fulham-Newcastle are hardly interesting. Blackburn-Wrexham has a bit of narrative but Ewood is shit on tele on account of the empty seats.
  4. state of that clickbait tweet.
  5. Interesting interview with Eales. Hearing about the possibility of selling players is never nice but, given our current position on the food chain, we just have to accept that it's the reality of the game; tbh that's regardless of FFP, though obviously the existence of that makes it more appealing to sell, which is annoying. But ultimately we'll be selling because, on balance, it is considered to be compatible with our aspiration for 'upward mobility.' Previously we were selling because it was compatible with our aspiration to finish 17th.
  6. Must admit, given the apparent desperation to unnecessarily play in away kits these days, I was astonished we weren't in the awful green garb. I love us in the white shorts but it was undeniably the wrong choice from an accessibility point of view as KI says. I'm lost with how kit choices are made tbh; it just seems totally random with no loyalty to the kits themselves. Why didn't we wear Saturday's kit at Sheffield United, for instance? Why did we wear all white at Sheff Wed and all blue at Leeds last season? Why the white shorts at Chelsea? Why weren't any of our kits suitable for Brighton (a)? Why do we mix and match away socks? Makes it (even more) difficult to develop a real affection for these kits when there's no true version.
  7. Christ. Can we just nuke Twitter from orbit, like?
  8. Nice finish from Dalot. Should be a routine one from here.
  9. What next? Lee Stewart taking minutes?
  10. What's good is that - should we get through - there's a guaranteed six non-PL teams for us not to be drawn against in the last 16.
  11. ManU get away with one early doors.
  12. Fucking rubbish draw. Boring and difficult. So annoying man. Good draw otherwise in fairness. Opportunity knox if we get through. Watford v Southampton Blackburn Rovers v Wrexham Bournemouth v Swansea City West Bromwich Albion v Brentford or Wolverhampton Wanderers West Ham United or Bristol City v Nottingham Forest or Blackpool Leicester City v Hull City or Birmingham City Sheffield Wednesday v Coventry City Chelsea v Aston Villa Ipswich Town v Maidstone United Liverpool v Norwich City or Bristol Rovers Tottenham Hotspur v Manchester City Leeds United v Plymouth Argyle Crystal Palace or Everton v Luton Town or Bolton Wanderers Newport County or Eastleigh v Wigan Athletic or Manchester United Sheffield United v Brighton & Hove Albion Fulham v Newcastle United

    Fabian Schär

If you want to relive the moment on here.

Yeah. It's an amazing moment but genuinely just a brilliant goal too. To have won it in the first place and then bend it in first time; sublime tekkers. Burnley looks class because of how it thunders in, but PSG is the better goal even without the magnitude of the moment. I think I said "peak life" in the matchday thread and I stand by it.

God it was something else, that PSG goal, wasn't it. I'll have hairs on me neck forever watching that back.

    Dogawful Officiating

I don't know why anyone would be in favour of significantly reducing VAR but at the same time happy to introduce alternative offside technology. The main issue with VAR and offsides is not the dubious accuracy of the current methods; it's that our capacity to fully celebrate and feel the rush of a goal is involuntarily restrained by the fear that it will be chalked-off after significant delay. Of course, VAR might identify infringements other than invisible offsides, but that issue is easily the most common boner-killer. Genuinely unfair goals - that have only been scored because the attacker is well beyond the last man - are few and far between. On that note: changing the law (i.e. daylight) to accommodate the use of technology and reduce its pedantry is absolutely pointless. We're basically just integrating the allowable margin for error we always had with the good old linesman and "giving the attacker the benefit of the doubt." It's ironic that we crow about VAR being unsuitable due to the subjectivity of incidents... offside is an objective issue, and yet it's the aspect for which VAR is easily the least appropriate. IMO.
  17. I guess that's the bit which is sung turbofast so it's all slurred anyway.
  18. Even that's got the million mph treatment that befell the Blaydon Races. It's awful n'all. "We all know how to fight."
  19. Nah, you're right. The output from the in-house media is so average. Should just let Waxxa do everything.
  20. They're clearly the front-runners in the title race imo. They're spawny but then again their solitary defeat was arguably due to the greatest VAR fuckup of all time. 'Hopefully' Man City will come through now De Bruyne is back but if not, I think it's going to Anfield
