  1. he only goes after our players or ex players! we might be able to offload another one or 2 of ours....here`s hoping for a 6m bid from them for Smith this summer
  2. surprised to see Zaragoza struggling down there with the players they have - likes of Milito, Aimar, Ayala, Luccin etc. Aimar is still quite injury prone mind. I wouldn`t mind us raiding South America for a creative player. I know there`s the issue with work permits but the Argies in particular usually have italian passorts
  3. some paper today mentioned Metzelder. He`s too injury prone for my liking but a top defender when fit If we could go for a German defender I would like to see Mertesacker but I doubt he`d leave Werder Bremen for us
  4. Newcaslte is voted one of the world's top 10 party cities That's a f****** joke though. it was a fkin long time ago too. 1995 according to this....probably why Asprilla came eh http://www.lastnightoffreedom.co.uk/stag/history-of/newcastle/
  5. Would be value for money, can't see Barca wanting over 5m for him. Truly gifted player. they were after 8m in the summer when we were linked with him......wouldn`t pay that for him but under 5m possibly yes
  6. he might be big mates with Cacapa
  7. I'm just trying to get them out of the way. Like i said in another thread. Gudjohnsen would be my preferred signing. I do have a gut feeling that KK will be aiming very high this summer. I`m sure Ashley will want a trophy signing tbf but it wont be Ronaldinho
  8. would prefer it the other way around tbh
  9. not quite everybodys `2nd favourite team` yet but if we keep playing like we are we might get there sometime again
  10. I heard it was a dislocated shoulder. Wonder what Keegan`s take is on Krul mind. He never mentioned Krul in his past interviews when he was talking about our keepers, just Given ,Harper and the `up and coming keepers `Forster and Soderberg so a bit concerned *edited
  11. only the Sun mind Newcastle boss Kevin Keegan is targeting a £6m summer move for Liverpool midfielder Jermaine Pennant. (The Sun)
  12. would rather not see more London teams like Charlton and Watford (near enough to London) come up but I suppose its less of a trek than Bristol
  13. They were apparently watching the keeper Rui Patricio, and defensive midfielder Miguel Veloso. Or more likely , Carlos Cuellar? they picked him up for a bargain though, 4.5m as he fell out with the coach at Parma......a bit like when we signed Ginola for a knockdown 2.5m after the whole of France blamed him for France`s world cup qualifying failure. I`d take Deco for 4.5m mind but not for 15m I always wanted Rui Costa to come here cos he's one of my all time favoruite players to watch... me too... top class playmaker at the time. Batistuta was a phenomenal striker at Fiorentina too
  14. I wouldn`t mind trying for someone line David Suazo at Inter.....hasn`t had a much chance at Inter in terms of being a starter this season but he`s a very good player with pace, power and finishing ability. Rather him than Henry tbh
  15. actually, there are not many black people in the North east come to think of it (well, Newcastle anyway).I don`t see many about
  16. I think the issue is paying 15m for a player who will be 31 in a couple months time. If he was 25 or even a bit older, I`m sure 99% of people would have the opposite view
  17. anyone else remember him playing against us in the UEFA Cup quarter final in 96/97? He had the dreadlocks back then and was a left winger.....tormented Watson over both legs. I remember saying at that time we should`ve signed him! They had a canny team back then I seem to recall - Barthez, Dumas (was good then!),Djetou Legwinski, Sonny Anderson, Emmanuel Petit, Benarbia, Prso,Trezeguet etc We were playing Rob Lee up front on his own in the 2nd leg at their place
  18. as long as he doesn`t post the youtube vids on here he`s safe
  19. didnt realise he played in Denmark. Which team? He`s still playing at Sheffield United....one of the few regulars left from the old KK era
  20. he`s 30+, astronomical wages and in the last 2 seasons injury prone. Lets go for someone else
  21. of those I`d take: I've found this but you have to register: - http://www.givemefootball.com/transferdirectory/proregister.cfm It seems to only cover PFA players. It has a ringing endorsement from "Sam Allardyce, Manager : Newcastle United"! Also, found this list dated 27/02/08, using Google. I'm not sure how accurate it is: - http://www.talkceltic.net/forum/celtic-chat/33092-summer-bosmans.html Jorquera Sylvinho Edmilson Santiago Ezquerro Jose Izquiredo Bernardo Romeo Pasqual Cygan Robert Pires Wes Brown Sami Hyypia Harry Kewell Hilario Zoltan Gera Patrick Muller Bernard Mendy (back up for Beye) Mario Yepes Sylvain Armand Johan Micoud Abdelaziz Kamara Jonathan Perina Ludovic Magnin Daniel Bierofka Zlatan Bajramovic Gustavo Varela Pierre Wome Jurcia Vranjes Ivan Klasnic Athrison Carsten Ramelow Dmitri Bulykin Veljko Paynovic Maxi Rodriguez (not sure he`d come but would be fantastic on the right) Ewerthon Loukas Vyntra Turaci Soti Kyrgiakos Alexander Meier Javier Zanetti Olivier Dacourt Hernan Crespo Luis Jimenez - creative player that can play on the wing/2nd striker Santiago Solari Antonio Cassano Pavel Nedved Nuno Frechaut Ivica Krizanac Anthony Seric Ezequiel Gonzalez Tomas Sivok Angelo Bassinas Thiago Motta Juan Valera Nuno Valente Danny Murphy Phillipe Christinval Nobby Solano - cover for a top class right winger who i hope we sign but i guess he wants to stay in London Wilfred Bouma Roman Bednar Lee Wallace Kanu Geovanni Dietmar Hamann Kasper Schmeichel Fabio Laverani Tomas Ujfalusi Eugeni Aldonin Marcos Assuncao Kanga Akale Vadim Karlaschuk Antonio Nunez Jorge Larena Vlad Munteanu Mama Bagayoko Alan Rochat Jerko Luko Olivier Veigneau Sebastian Kehl Philip Degen Thomas Chatielle Guillame Gillet Sherif Ekramy Edgar Davids Sammy Kuffour Puis Ikedia Leo Andrea Luiz Marat Izmailov Moura Pinherio Derlei Mark Fitzpatrick Ross McCormack Guillaume Beuzelin
  22. not a single NUFC player in Garth Crooks` starting XI team of the week http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/shared/spl/hi/football/squad_selector/team_of_the_week/html/ss_team.stm
  23. KK "I thought Habib Beye was outstanding. If there's a better right-back in the Premier League than him, I'm sure there are one or two, but I'm not sure they are playing as well as he is."

    Duff

duff in money Sunday April 06 2008 WHEN Damien Duff left Chelsea to sign for Newcastle he insisted his heart told him to go to Tyneside but, judging by figures released last week, his wallet also had plenty to do with it. Duff was the only Irish player mapped on the list of the world's highest paid footballers published by respected football blog 'Futebol Finance' and he comes in at 80th in the list on an annual salary of €3.96m -- €76,000-a-week -- at St James' Park. The Irish international has been linked with a move away from the club having failed to re-produce his best form since the arrival of Kevin Keegan and, while Newcastle aren't exactly known for their prudence, the publication of such a salary won't make his task of winning over the Toon Army any easier. While Kaka leads the way on €9m-a-year (just under €25,000 a day), Duff ranks ahead of the likes of Ricardo Carvalho, Cesc Fabregas and another fairly decent winger, Lionel Messi -- the Barca wizard pocketing a mere €3.3m-a-year. You'd almost feel sorry for him. http://www.independent.ie/sport/soccer/duff-in-money-1339653.html
