Adebayor is one ugly bassa Dirk Kuyt/Peter Crouch Fowler/Hasselbaink Ronaldo and Ronaldinho Ronaldinho/Etoo Ronaldo/Inzaghi Ribery/Klose
  3. would definitely buy him if we had the chance. Would bid upto 16m.....I think he`s a london boy though so I`m not sure if he`d come here especially if other clubs are sniffing about. Wouldnt mind Roque Santa Cruz here too
  4. Maybe we should bring in Yoan Gouffran as according to his wiki: has plastic bags of pace. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yohan_Gouffran Ive seen this guy a couple of times and have been very impressed by him. However, If Arsenal is in for him then we have very little chance and Ive always seen him through the centre rather then the left. Aye, he is striker. Saw him play against Wales U21s he was quick like but I didn't think he was fast as plastic bags. I am sure a french club had a bid of £2.5 million accepted but for some reason the deal did not happen. I will look out for Caen playing on setanta yeah he rejected signing for PSG in the window. Good prospect he is. Jeremy Menez is starting to improve as a player, too. agreed, looks a fantastic prospect . Monaco are reportedly wanting 15 million euros for him
  5. wonder if Martins will do an unscheduled detour to italy for a couple of days like the last time.....
  6. I`d keep Milner in the team for this game as players usually do well on their return to a former club.
  7. Alvaro remains unhappy missing Newcastle move Alvaro has criticised the football agent who was at the centre of the controversy surrounding his on-off transfer to Newcastle United last week. The Brazilian defender thought that an offer had been received from the Premier League club before being accepted and then blocked by Levante and he spoke out at the time. Now he has discovered that the bid was not concrete and blamed Mariam Khadour for building up his hopes of a very lucrative move to St James' Park. "I cannot find a logical explanation for it all," he told a press conference. "I have changed my mind completely and the club has been very strong and responded with everything I wanted. "Levante has proof of everything that happened and that nobody else is to blame apart from this woman. "It was all very difficult, but I want to thank the club for the way things have gone." Alvaro stated last week that he felt he could never play for the club again after he thought that they were stopping him leaving, but now he has changed his opinion. "It is bad to say that they wanted me to go, but I have already asked for forgiveness and I will continue giving everything to Levante," he explained. "I think it is quite normal to be excited, though, when a club comes in and offers you such incredible amounts."
  8. Alves I think looks will do well here in the EPL. He at least has the physical characteristics, good in the air, pace, power, good free kick taker.
  9. Swedes bemoan Magpies swoop Hacken have admitted their disappointment at losing starlet Ole Soderberg to Newcastle. The Magpies wrapped up the signing of the 17-year-old goalkeeper on transfer deadline day. Soderberg is rated as one of the brightest prospects in Scandinavia and Hacken admit it was a tough to let him leave. "It is sad to lose one of the most promising keepers in Sweden," said director Dennis Andersson. "But we are convinced Newcastle is the best alternative."

    Emre

I would like to see Faye tried in defensive midfield . The back 4 have had little/no protection from Nicky Butt/Smith etc so hopefully with Faye in there who seems to know how to do the job ........the back 4 may not be under as much pressure as well as not having to worry as much about waves of attacks ploughing through our non existent protection of recent games. If we still ship goals, stick him back in the defence!
  11. came on as a late sub at the weekend for Lazio in their 2-1 win over Sampdoria. It must be a strange feeling for him to be a part of a winning team (well a team that`s won recently at least!)

was Emre injured yesterday? somebody mentioned on the match thread he might have pulled a hamstring but I haven`t seen any match reports mentioning the injury

  14. have a look at the 21 page thread
  15. Samaras scored on his debut up in the mickey mouse league
  16. Boro almost signed Vagner Love but didn`t qualify for a work permit! "The truth is we made attempts to sign both Fred and Vagner Love who, like Afonso Alves, are top quality Brazilian international strikers. "We came very close to doing deals for both of them. We would have loved to have brought both Alves and either Fred or Love here. "In fact, Love was ready to sign for us even on transfer deadline day but he didn't qualify for a work permit and we just ran out of time before the deadline. http://www.mfc.premiumtv.co.uk/page/News/NewsDetail/0,,1~1231330,00.html
  17. agreed. btw, anyone how how much the transfer fee was for Defoe? some reports said 10m, some 7m EDIT: Just found out it was 9m. Rather have kept Benjani for 2m more
  18. Bambi dropped from Wigan`s lineup
  19. I`m still glad he was appointed. Was never going to expect him to perform miracles overnight
  20. `legend` ..... -------------------------------------------------- Boro, not United, will take derby day spoils, says ex-star MIDDLESBROUGH legend Craig Hignett today tipped his former club to take the derby spoils at Newcastle on Sunday. Gareth Southgate's men travel to St James's Park (kick-off 1.30pm) looking to build on Tuesday night's win over Wigan – a result that saw Boro move five points clear of the drop zone and just two points behind Newcastle. Things are not looking so rosy on Tyneside as Kevin Keegan is still looking for his first win and first goal since returning to the Newcastle hotseat. Former Boro star Hignett, who won three and lost one of his games against the Mags during his Boro career, said Southgate's men could hold the edge, especially following the arrival of record signing Afonso Alves late last night. Hignett said: "I am going to go for Boro. "I think they could be a really strong team by signing a new centre-forward. "They don't give away a lot of goals – it is just scoring them that has been the problem. "League form goes out the window in derbies but Boro are in slightly better form than Newcastle at the moment. "It is exciting times at Newcastle at the moment though with Keegan returning. He will be trying to lift the troops. "I always looked forward to the derbies. I am not sure that with all the overseas players that play for both sides now that they know how much it means to the supporters. "Boro fans will work with Newcastle and S underland fans and they will be desperate to get the bragging rights." Hignett said he had been taken aback by Keegan's return to management and reckoned the pressure levels would already be cranking up at St James's Park. The 38-year-old added that Sam Allardyce should have been given more time to turn things around at the club. Hignett said: "I think Newcastle fans expect anyone who takes the job to turn it around immediately. "I am not sure Sam Allardyce was given a fair crack of the whip, 24 games is no time to bring in some new players, get rid of the ones you don't want and set out a new system. "The big thing up there is the football they want to watch and if the manager does not bring that immediately, the fans turn against him. "I don't think they will have what they had with Keegan before though when they had the Shearers and Ginolas playing great football."
  21. Lawros prediction If Newcastle boss Kevin Keegan needed any reminder how short he is of good players, the last two matches - both 3-0 defeats by Arsenal - have provided it. I think he will get his first win here - and the team will score their first goals - since his return to St James' Park, but they will be nervously hanging on at the end. Match preview Prediction: 2-1
  22. if they both turn out to be top class keepers i doubt one of them would be willing to warm the bench all the time unless they do a Harper
