  1. never heard of him...Champ man prodigy?
  2. Luis Valencia of Wigan is a good player but he`ll be sitting on Man U or Liverpool`s bench I suspect next season. Would prefer him over some of the players mentioned
  3. Zarate in talks with 2 EPL sides Hope one of them is us
  4. another one dubbed the `new Drogba` not exactly prolific mind
  5. SWP Pennant Lennon in that order.....don`t particularly rate Lennon that highly tbh
  6. Don`t know why Terry Mac was part of the `delegation`.....to crack the jokes on the plane journey there? ----------------------- Keegan & Co head for France as Newcastle look to bring in striker Gomis A three-man delegation from Newcastle United watched St Etienne's highly-rated striker Bafetimbi Gomis in action on Saturday night. Manager Kevin Keegan, along with assistant Terry McDermott and director of football Dennis Wise were flown into Paris in order to give the forward the once-over during PSG's relegation struggle against their UEFA Cup-chasing visitors. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/pages/live/articles/sport/football.html?in_article_id=566125&in_page_id=1779&ito=newsnow
  7. it`ll be a long commute from Japan silly season started already --------------------------- Premier League - Japanese club line up Owen bid Eurosport - Tue, 13 May 07:05:00 2008 Japan's JEF United Chiba are planning an audacious swoop for England striker Michael Owen, according to reports in the Japanese media. The J-League club have just unveiled former Liverpool first-team coach Alex Miller as their new manager and believe Owen can solve the team's current goal-scoring problems. Japan's Nikkan Sports reported that Chiba officials were preparing an initial approach and that contact had been made with Owen's agent Tony Stephens. Owen has yet to agree a new contract with Newcastle United and the former Liverpool and Real Madrid striker has been linked with a move to Premier League champions Manchester United. A move to Japan could prove detrimental to Owen's England career, although JEF United have transfer funds available after selling several top players before the 2008 J-League season. "The reports are not 100 percent off the mark," Chiba's Kentaro Shiga said. "Owen's name was one of those being talked about when the team were looking at possible targets." The club insisted new boss Miller and was not behind any potential swoop for the 28-year-old former European Footballer of the Year, who he worked with at Liverpool. "The club were discussing options needed for individual positions before the new manager came in," Shiga said. "The coach didn't tell the club to move for Owen." Struggling Chiba are rooted to the bottom of the J-League first division, only winning their first game in 12 matches this season at the weekend with Miller watching from the stands. Reuters
  8. cavenaghi I doubt he`d turn down Champions League football for us How about Mario Gomez of Stuttgart? They might miss out on a UEFA Cup place.....but bigger clubs are after him reportedly.....could be another unrealistic one but worth a shot imo
  9. I would hardly call the likes of Des Hamilton `expensive footballers` more like forgotton footballers......but anyways to continue that trend Matías Vuoso .....cost Man City 3.5m at the time...never played a game http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vicente_Mat%C3%ADas_Vuoso Luciano Figueroa http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Luciano_Figueroa
  10. he`ll be 30 by the start of the season and Owen has been playing extremely well in the role Gudjohnson (behind the strikers) I assume would play. If we could get him for peanuts then I`d take him but not for the reported 6m odd that has been bandied about in the last transfer window
  11. Surprised he doesn`t want Toure. He`s been impressive in La Liga and was voted best buy recently buy some spanish paper another case of an overpriced english player
  12. aye but they wont have 4m let alone a fraction of that....I imagine they`ll want a loan
  13. wingers? kind of old fashioned now, `getting to the byline and whipping crosses into the box for the target man` etc. the modern top teams now don`t play with traditional wingers so to speak more ball on the ground and through balls for quick strikers etc(not that we`re a top team like )....... anyway if it`s not broke dont fix it.....we`re playing well with 4-3-3
  14. aye the African kids are better off than British kids tbf
  15. Jeremy Menez from Monaco.......creative attacking midfielder/forward.......though not sure about signing French players due to our fairly bad record and constant whinging we usually get from them
  16. Hopefully his last time as a newcastle player at St James Park what`s the rest of the team?
  17. I`ve seen him play about 10-15 times in the reserves only admittedly but he`s one well in the games I`ve seen him play. I reckon he`ll come good at another club and he`ll be one of those `ones that got away` players. He`s still only 19 so I`m a bit surprised he hasnt been offered at least a 2 year extension with a loan spell in a championship club next season
  18. probably considered too old for Arsenal I reckon
  19. Zenit`s Argentine right winger looked pretty good on the wing (Dominguez)......might be worth a look at some of their players. Is Arshavin back for the final?
  20. Chelsea to fluke it on home turf
  21. well money talks....if we offer him double (which is what we usually do!) I think he`d choose us over Lyon
