  1. In all honesty, if Colo did make the final squad and did get to play in the World Cup, I'd be more worried about his stock going down after a bad game or two. He's been class for us this year, but there's still this nagging suspicion that higher calibre strikers than the ones we've been facing on a weekly basis in the Championship might not be so forgiving. Eto'o, Raúl, Real Ronaldo, Forlán, Villa, Torres, Van Nistelrooy. well to be fair ,when Colo played for Depor he played against some of those mentioned ,as well as other top class strikers week in week out and didn`t look out of place at all in that time.
  2. Joey: Colo's My Favourite Player! JOEY Barton has revealed that, if he was a Newcastle United fan, he'd have the name of Fabricio Coloccini on the back of his black-and-white shirt. The Scouse star has been talking to nufcTV as part of their "Toon-Mates Summer Special" and, when asked about his pick for this season's star man, there was no doubt in his mind as to the identity of his favourite player. "There are a lot of candidates but I would have to go for Colo - I think he's been outstanding," said Barton. "He endured a hard start to life in England, but fair play to him, he stuck around and is reaping the reward for that now. "He's great to watch at times and has unbelievable skill. He's a top, top player and has been brilliant for us this season." And Joey joked: "I love him! He's my favourite player and if I was a fan it would definitely be his name on the back of my shirt!" Coloccini, along with team-mate Jonas Gutierrez, has been named in Diego Maradona's provisional 30-man for this summer's World Cup in South Africa
  3. I would have Marcelo over Bastos, Ganso over Kleberson or Josue and thats all to be honest. The rest are expected and while i dislike Melo and Gilberto and there are 100 players who are better than them, they really do play well for the national side and have rarely let us down. Agree with that.....Bastos is great going forward but very poor defensively which is why he plays left midfield for Lyon (and before Lille) so Marcelo would be a more adequate left back. I read Gilberto has been playing as a number 10 type sometimes for his club side As for Ganso....wow looks a top class playmaker in the making...something that Brasil have been lacking in producing for quite a long time now.
  4. disagree with that. Abbie Clancy would be ok if she just shut her mouth too. aye definitely. South American women
  5. I didn't think Spain's shirts were made by Umbro? is Italys? that was quick.... I just deleted when I realised my error
  6. the other's have nice hot accents but ours has to be a scouser.... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bhcn3FLorew
  7. not surprised at all. He's a bit of a favorite of Dunga's as he can play in midfield and attack , and has always been in Dunga's squads (took him to the Gold Cup and Copa America). He also happens to be dating Dunga's daughter (a la Aguero and Maradona's daughter)
  8. Just looking at the Danish squad and a bit surprised to see the likes of Tomasson, Rommedahl ,Sorenson and Martin Jorgenson still around for Denmark.
  9. think it's already been posted but anyways.........some odd inclusions in the Brasil squad (Doni, Melo, Grafite have all been poor for their club sides) but glad to see Dunga sticking to his guns and not bowing to media pressure (far worse than it is here) and not including the overhyped Neymar (he is not the 2nd coming of Pele) These are the backups: Diego Tardelli (Atletico-MG) Sandro (Internacional) Carlos Eduardo (Hoffenheim) Ronaldinho Gaucho (Milan) Paulo Henrique Ganso (Santos) Marcelo (Real Madrid) Alex (Chelsea) http://s.glbimg.com/es/ge/f/original/2010/05/11/album_selecao_3.jpg
  10. actually from what I`ve read, Messi had some fall out with Cambiasso recently...whether that had any influence I don`t know but you are right Cambiasso hasn`t featured much under Maradona anyway. I`m a bit surprised to see Jose Sosa in there, really must have upped his game since leaving Bayern.....and be in ahead of Lucho Gonzalez. Datolo also hasn`t really been that impressive (sent on loan to a Greek team) but scored a vital goal in the qualifiers as with Palermo which seemed to have cemented their places. People laugh about Palermo but with 10 mins to go and you need a guy fighting for the ball in the penalty area for a goal or knock down then Palermo can be perfect (as long as he doesn`t take a penalty). Diego Milito whilst fantastic at club level has looked always very poor at national level for Argentina.
  11. could've stayed in the comfort zone in the Dutch league but taking on a more difficult challenge in a tougher league.Certainly earns more respect from me. It's a pity other British managers and players don't have the balls or get out of their comfort zone and try their luck abroad.
  12. Norwich City return appeals to Fraser Forster Fraser Forster says he would jump at the chance to return to Norwich City in the Championship next season. The 22-year-old goalkeeper has spent the season on loan at Carrow Road from parent club Newcastle United. After lifting the League One title he told BBC Radio Norfolk he would be happy with another year at Norwich. "I'd love to come back but it's not my decision, it's all down to Newcastle if they'll let me come back. We'll just have to see what happens," he said. Forster was substituted five minutes before the end of City's final game of the season against Carlisle, leaving the field to a stadium-wide chant of "Fraser Forster, one more year." He says that if Newcastle did want him to gain another year's experience out on loan, the Norfolk club would be his first choice. "Yes, definitely. Obviously I know all the lads and it would be easy to fit straight back in, I've loved it since I came here," he said. "The manager's been brilliant with me and I'd love to come and work with Paul Lambert again. "The fans have been brilliant with me since I came here, they've supported me all season. It was nice to come off and get that reception." Forster finished the season just one clean sheet short of equalling Kevin Keelan's 1974/75 club record of 19. He also finished second in the fans' player of the season award, behind top scorer and captain captain Grant Holt. "I got players' player off the lads so I was delighted with that, but then to come second to Grant Holt, he quite rightly won it," added Forster.
  13. saw this topic on another forum. Beckham? Many thought he would fail badly if he moved to La Liga or Serie A but he had done well.....any others?
  14. Kevin Kuranyi has signed a pre-contract with Dynamo Moscow
  15. Shilton Walker - Adams - Butcher - Pearce Beckham - Robson - Gazza - Barnes -Lineker - Bearsley- Seaman Ferdinand Waddle Platt Hoddle Shearer
  16. do you have a link? Haven't seen maradonas pre world cup squad mentioned anywhere yet.
  17. Zoran Tosic has done well at FC Koeln in the Bundesliga, on loan from Man Utd. Would be good cover on the wing if Man U were willing to loan him out to a Prem League club to gain experience.

  19. bit of a Champ Man/FM legend....actually he's a canny player and was one of the top scorers when Bordeaux won the title 2 seasons back but Chamakh has been 1st choice this season so has struggled to get in ahead of him. Can't see it happening but decent shout.
  20. Agreed....pity more British managers don't have the initiative to try their luck abroad. I respect those coaches more (Sir Bobby, Hodgson, now Mclaren) and the experience can only help. Same with British players......
  21. like the look of Bilbao's Julio Llorente but is highly rated and maybe out of our price range. Soldado is rumoured to be going to Valencia if/when Villa is sold.
