  1. on loan but just returned to PSG according to some reports
  2. is that why we`ve coinicidentally been linked with their left winger, Jerome Rothen? some kind of swap deal?
  3. aye, excellent for Monaco and I also remember him when he played against us in the waffa/intertoto cup for Troyes and he looked canny then. Excellent crosser of the ball.....but that was then (ie:5 years plus ago).
  4. wouldn`t make much sense, buying him from Roma (not to mention attracting him here) and then loaning him out to a Championship/League 1 team
  5. We need someone with a bit of pace and movement up front, that can keep defenders on their toes and run onto balls. It will benefit Jonas to as we know Jonas` strong points are not crossing but rather creating chances with his pace and looking up to someone who he can pass to on the deck (not long ball, high inswinging crosses) so IMO Beckford fits the bill....not another big centre forward like Boyd who has less movement and stamina.
  6. said he wants to look into coaching as well......if he`s changed his tune about us being too far (West Ham), wouldn`t mind if we offered him a place here on the coaching staff.
  7. Xisco scored for Santander in their 2-0 win today
  8. Lineker urges Capello to consider Newcastle keeper Harper England legend Gary Lineker says Newcastle United goalkeeper Steve Harper deserves World Cup consideration by Three Lions coach Fabio Capello. In his column for the Mail on Sunday, Lineker wrote: "I wonder if Fabio Capello might take a leaf out of Bobby Robson's book by casting his eye over a player who is excelling in the Championship while rivals are floundering in the Premier League. "Newcastle United goalkeeper Steve Harper has been one of the main reasons his side are heading back to the top flight. "Finding goalkeepers is a world problem because of the way the game has changed, particularly in the movement of the ball. "I've seen even the best, like Iker Casillas and Gianluigi Buffon, have nightmares this season. So why not look at Harper? He's solid, dependable and I know Alan Shearer rates him. But as far as I have seen, he hasn't been mentioned. "Having understudied Shay Given for years, he will not be fazed by sitting on the bench and staying focused if needed at a second's notice."
  9. Giovani dos Santos on loan? did well for Ipswich last season. Attacking midfielder
  10. by the sounds of things, many on here are Man City reserve regulars all these comments (now and previously) about how class he is.
  11. yep, captain of the Argentinian U-23 team, then played in Brazil for Flamengo where he won the Brazilian title. Then ended up at Barnsley .....still only 25. Not sure if he ever played alongside Colo or Gutierrez before. http://www.barnsleyfc.co.uk/page/ProfilesDetail/0,,10309~43747,00.html
  12. seen Barnsley a couple times and have been impressed with their 2 midfielders - Hugo Colace and De Silva. Didn`t realise Colace was the former Argentina U-23 captain for their FIFA U-23 win a couple years back ,along with Tevez, Macherano, Messi etc. Not sure how he ended up at Barnsley after ! Out of contract in the summer, might be worth a punt if he keeps impressing. De Silva seems a canny creative player from what I`ve seen also. Not sure if De Silva has the ability to player at a higher level .....but Colace seems to have a bit of class about him.
  13. somebody uploaded the radio commentary parts on youtube for the legendary Ranger goal
  14. The entire playing staff of Crystal Palace have been put up for sale in order to solve the club's cash problems. Wigan and Sunderland are interested in midfielder Darren Ambrose, winger Victor Moses and goalkeeper Julian Speroni.
  15. Kris Boyd linked to us and the smoggies in the Times
  16. Harper for England http://www.mirrorfootball.co.uk/news/Fabio-Capello-told-to-look-to-Newcastle-to-solve-England-s-goalkeeper-problem-article249549.html?
  17. at Olympiakos and did well for them last season......apparently picked up a few injuries this season so he hasn`t been playing much for them lately. agreed, very handy player that can play at the back and in midfield.
  18. anyone remember Inter Milan away?.....reportedly around 12,000+ of our fans in the San Siro that day
  19. anyone know the average attendance for Barnsley? Having 7,000 of us there is class.....will be just like a home game and we might almost outnumber the Barnsley fans
  20. How Chris Hughton is boring Newcastle all the way to the Premier League http://www.mirrorfootball.co.uk/opinion/columnists/simon-bird/How-Chris-Hughton-is-boring-Newcastle-all-the-way-to-the-Premier-League-article248029.html
