  1. Whitley Bay? Stay away from that place as others have mentioned.....
  2. any opinion on Adam Johnson? was excellent for City last night by all accounts....do you think he might have a chance to sneak in to the final squad?
  3. 1987 - Newcastle vs Liverpool....first game I went to as a kid. Mirandinha up front.....(read he`s a scout for us in Brazil ) ......Had one of those Greenall sponsored shirts too just noticed they`ve got highlights on youtube of that game too
  4. Agree about Acuna, underrated. Nice video on youtube where he talks about his time at us and Solano (title: clarence acuna ok ok.wmv)....though you have to understand Spanish obviously.
  5. No but I think they should. I cringe when I see all these Italian clubs with ridiculous NFL style squad numbers, your 1-11 shirts should be your number 1 choices for each position Remember Ivan Zamorano 1 + 8? http://cdn.bleacherreport.com/images_root/image_pictures/0157/6035/zamorano_18_feature.jpg Aberdeen's Zerouali wore the number 0 short in reference to his name Lizerazu - number 69
  6. In regards to Torres' "bag of tricks", I remember he was a notorious diver at Atletico from what I remember, doesn't seem to do it at Liverpool (well not like his Atletico days anyway)
  7. been watching Valencia quite a bit this season, and what a turnaround for 'Webcam' Banega....... they couldn't get rid of him before but he's been excellent for Valencia so far.
  8. In-form Andy Carroll catches Capello’s eye http://www.chroniclelive.co.uk/nufc/newcastle-united-news/2010/02/08/in-form-andy-carroll-catches-capello-s-eye-72703-25786638/
  9. thought it was kind of against the rules to do that (?).....running up (then pausing for a longer time than usual) until the keeper dives, then put the ball in to the back of the net. Not like it`s uncommon though I suppose, just the like the keeper coming off his line. Great finish by Robinho though
  10. Robinho's second coming: Manchester City flop nets winning goal in dream Santos return Robinho promised a heroic return for Santos. And though he did not deliver the hat-trick he prophecised in the Classico against Sao Paulo, an exquisite winning goal was enough for his adoring fans here. The match started with a reality check for the on-loan Manchester City player. New boss Dorival Junior took much the same view as Roberto Mancini and Mark Hughes by declaring his new star too unfit and not in as good a form as those in front of him. It took until the 58th minute for the 26-year-old to emerge from the bench, and his debut almost instantly threatened to be as disappointing as his 17 months at Eastlands since his move from Real Madrid. His team were leading 1-0 when he entered thanks to a first half penalty converted by Neymar, the so-called 'New Pele' or 'New Robinho' depending on your taste. Substitute Roger headed an equaliser with 20 mintes to play. But, after two close shaves, Robinho finally got the goal he craved with four minutes to play. Santos right back Wesley broke from defence, running the whole length of the pitch to cross from the right and find Robinho. The Brazil star, at the near post, flicked it home with the inside of his right heel before unwisely celebrating in front of the home fans, who pelted him with anything they could find.
  11. classic smash and grab victory. Just looking at the table again and I didn't realise until now how far Lazio were down the table.
  12. Isn't Newcastle twinned with them? aye, just looked it up
  13. Schalke? Great home attendances etc, unlucky in cup finals (though they won the waffa cup in 97).....they also threw away a fairly big lead and lost the title a good few years back to Bayern Munich
  14. Last I heard hes at Sporting Braga. Imo he just arrived at SJP at a bad time- we had a lethal midfield back then I reckon Viana would have been perfectly suited to Serie A tbh......with the slower pace of the game there and having more time on the ball. Plus more teams over there play formations suited to Viana`s play.
  15. Aye, Stan Collymore definitely.......had pretty much everything to be a top class striker, pace, dribbling ability, skill etc but too many off the field issues.......even until recently with the dogging If he hadn`t turned down Man Utd for Liverpool and trained under Ferguson`s guidance then things might have been different career wise.
  16. Djalminha - SUPREMELY talented and could have had a much greater career. Gaizka Mendieta Farinos (looked great at Valencia till he left for Inter) Ivan De la Pena Joaquin and erm, Olivier Bernard
  17. Ariel Ortega Dani (ex Ajax/Atletico Madrid) Alvaro Recoba Sebastian Deisler Pablo Aimar Riquelme Cassano Denilson
  18. Tottenham defender Jonathan Woodgate is concerned that he may have to quit football as he battles to overcome the long-term groin injury that has restricted him to only three Premier League games this season. http://www.mirrorfootball.co.uk/news/Spurs-star-fears-he-may-have-to-quit-article309893.html
  19. Mido will now pocket a meagre £1,000-a-week - less than some plumbers earn - after penning a loan deal from Middlesbrough until the end of the season. The "nominal" sum paved the way for what West Ham owner David Sullivan described prior to its completion as "one of the most amazing deals of all time." "He doesn't want to be known as a 'has been' of English football, so he is willing to come here to play for a nominal fee, just £1,000-a-week," Sullivan said. "Mido is a rich boy, even though he is still only 26, and he told us he doesn't need the money, but he wants to prove something in English football." Mido, who has had previous spells in England with Tottenham and Wigan, said: "I am here to play football and to prove a point, definitely. I am very happy to be here. "I had to sacrifice some things but this is a great club and I am sure I will do well here, hopefully." West Ham also signed Benni McCarthy from Blackburn on transfer deadline day, although the South African came a little more expensive - he will earn £38,000-a-week. Three jobs that pay more than Mido's: Train driver (up to £70,000 pa) Oil rigger (£55,000 pa) Junior site operations and maintenance manager at an offshore wind farm (circa £60,000 pa) Or put another way, it will take Manchester United Wayne Rooney just four days to earn what Mido will in a year.

  21. Chronicle says 1 mil....but I`m sure they`ve no clue either http://www.chroniclelive.co.uk/nufc/newcastle-united-news/2010/02/02/ex-toon-player-aided-best-s-move-to-united-72703-25743399/?
  22. If this is true, can`t complain too much.....2.5m seemed a tad too much for someone out of contract in a couple months. I`m sure it`s recoupable if he turns out rubbish even --- United brought their business to a close by signing Coventry City’s pacey forward Leon Best yesterday for an undisclosed fee believed to be around £500,000 http://www.journallive.co.uk/nufc/newcastle-united-news/2010/02/02/best-is-yet-to-come-from-signings-61634-25740283/
