To link up with the mythical creature that destroys teams.

Depends on your ambition. I agree the "right" couple of players, and sensible team selections, could still get us into the top 6. But to go higher than that, demands more. Much more. Yeah, the issue is getting the right two. For what it's worth, I think if we got that right then it wouldn't be too difficult to build on to an extent. There'll come a point when we need to spend big bucks to go top 4, but I think doing it now when we're a mid table team is the wrong time. We need to establish ourselves as European contendors on out own merits before we really splash the cash, otherwise it could be a recipe for disaster imo. Drivel. £100M to get in the intertoto cup you reckon then? Apparently we only need two players? mackems.gif

Not that I like to watch defensive football - but isn't that where we need to improve first up? Get it right in defence first and then think about attacking? or am I just too conservative? You need to be taken out back and a high calibre gun taken to your head and be put out of your misery. blueyes.gif

The big numbers has come as a bit of a shock to some, accustomed as they are to living in the shade.

Disaster is by no means imminent.

Top waffling btw Thanks! Are we comparing ourselves to Arsenal now, by the way? Because that's a bit rich in my eyes, no pun intended. If you look around the league, I don't think our players are really that bad when you compare them to the majority of squads, at least technically. Arsenal are the exception to the rule, of course, they are the only team that play like that. Man Utd play exemplary stuff when they're in top gear, but again they're far and above where we are at the moment. Excluding the top four, there's probably Spurs who stand-out as being amongst the most technically gifted team, and Man City are up there as well, but even these sides aren't flooded with the sort of players that you see Arsenal utilising. They have their share of cloggers in there as well, but they have those extra few players with superior class (Berbatov, Huddlestone, King, Keane and Elano, Hamann, Petrov, Corluka) in a technical aspect. If we're comaring our current lot to Arsenal at this point in time, then we might as well give up now, and I think you know I wasn't saying that the formation fully impacts a player's natural ability. Naughty, naughty. The Pompey 11 is ahead of us imo.

From the BBC Sport homepage Good. I hope its bollox. WTF is Sven looking at that dopey cunt for. Oh man that would be payback. Lord let it be true.

We're trying to get a quality player in, is it possible to have one thread without the incessant rat whinning about formations?

Arsène Wenger said: “Lassana is a multi-functional player, making him a great addition to our squad. Not only is he hard working, he has a creative edge and is comfortable playing in the middle of the pitch or at right back.” Makes him sound like Geremi Mk II. The differance being Wenger never showed the remotest interest in Geremi.

We don't want cheap remember. He's not worth £15M Not good enough. Next. He will be worth £15m. Flakier than a cheap flake in a 99 ice cream being sold by Bob flake in flakesville Tenessee.

I rate him higher than Gilberto or Flamini. For me he's a Mini-Makalele with a bit more pace and projection. Wouldn't underestimate his creative component either. Not his main role but can thread a pass. I really hope this happens.

Agree with this. Can't say I've seen that much of him, but from what I've seen, he seems like a very good player. Good age as well, will still be wanting to prove himself which is a good thing. Like TT says though, we'll need a creative player too to compliment him. Speaking last month, the former Le Havre youngster revealed his discontentment with life at Arsenal, saying: "We're halfway through December and I've decided. I want to leave. The bottom line is the coach doesn't need me. "They don't want me. I don't understand because I've got more value in the French national team. "When I signed for Arsenal I was made promises by the people who recruited me. But since the start of the season the only matches I've been involved in have been low-key, and to be honest I'm getting fed up with it. "With Mr Wenger, there's no problem whatsoever. I'm not going to criticise him or speak badly of him. I'm not the kind of person who creates problems. "But I signed for Arsenal because I was led to believe I was going to be playing and there would be healthy competition. That hasn't been the case."

He's different class to what we have though currently, course we need him.

Left Chelsea to play more football and has found that the situation isn't much better at Arsenal. has therefore asked to leave. As Arsenal are bursting at the seams with young talent in midfield and everywhere else to be honest, Arsene has granted him his wish. Very highly rated player in France. Makelele like, but will push forward more given the opportunity. Also does a surprisingly good job at right-back too. Yup...Yup...Yup.

He's about 60 billion times better than Butt.
