In your defence NUFC06 it is always worth going for the best manager we can get, but just not likely with the names on that list.
-
Do you think it might have been better for him personally (not the club) if FS has stayed?
-
It's actually both and he has neither. Get rid. I disagree with that, there is so little time on a football field to think about what you're doing there cant be any thought processes with the ball at your feets, its all sensory feedback. I know where you're coming from but I strongly disagree, footballing intelligence is a mixture of the conscious and the subconscious interacting with one another which is actually the quickest way to make the RIGHT decision. Btw your very top players do their thinking mostly off the pitch, i.e. the likes of Messi will day dream constantly during the day and night about this and that scenario and what they'd do in this and that scenario, which helps them perform much better on the pitch, i.e. make quicker and better decisions. It's mostly mental this football lark, ability often doesn't even come into it in the heat of the moment. But still people persist with "football is a simple game"... Did Messi tell you that or did you read it somewhere? Don't spoil is made-up stuff, it sounds good until you think about it. it sounds absurd Coach is right tho. The best athletes are also the best psychologically prepared before the contest even starts.

As I don't know what a gumbie is I don't know whether this is a compliment or what... ...sort of Forest Gump type.

Although I guarantee he falls into that category of player that daydreams about doing this and that before a match. Anyway it's been scientifically proven that if you think about achieving something you're more likely to achieve. Especially in sport where there is a larger element of 'acting out' in the mind.

He'll leave if he doesn't get money this January to fund an ambitious title assualt or he'll get sacked if they end up with nowt at the end of the season, or anything other than the CL or League or both. He was brought in to mount a proper championship challenge and they aren't any nearer nearly three years later. They've been spending goodish amounts of cash as well. The real problem lies in his overly defensive style, which is alright for the odd cup run but long term the supporters have grown tired of it and its ability to deliver the big one.

When is Van Poncey back?
-
Would you have him here? Err... I refuse to answer that question on the grounds I might incriminate myself... I might consider it if he started working with Ayesteran again.
-
Woudn't write Fulham off just yet, especially if they get a few player in.
-
blueyes.gif Good. With Jol and hopefully Benny done for I can move onto Wenger....Err maybe not...
-
Jan window to be Benny's last shuffling of the cards...He needs to steer away from the stunning purchases of the likes of Kuyt (most shots off target top 10) no pace and Pennant (can't cross - won't cross). Good chance he'll be out before Sammy Dice.

His strike record for Inter was roughly 1 in 3 which is what it is with us. That's is what we paid for and what we got. If you want a 1 in 2 striker you have to put up the cash. True! I rememeber fergie saying something about the need for Rooney to spread his goals out over a good number of games, because his scoring record was similar to Martins. Id rather have Martins have 15 scoring games a season with 15 goals, than 15 goals in 8 scoring games over the season. If that makes sense. Makes perfect sense.

He needs service. When he gets it he messes up far too often i'm afraid, and i'm sorry parky, what torres cost liverpool is irrelevant, whether you think he was worth the money or not isnt gonna make martins a better player Martins is not a top tier forward comparing him to the likes of Torres or Villa or RVN is grossly unfair. If you lot want a forward all these posts reflect well stump up the £30m and you can have one. to be fair you were the one who started saying things like put him in a different team and he'll score more etc, as i've said though, that counts for anyone, more chances, more goals, anyway i'm not gonna start repeating myself, i just dont think he's good enough Fair enough. But the things people are criticising Martins for you can level at 90% of PL strikers on any given day.

This HAS to be a wind-up - MON is streets ahead of Allardyce. Expand? Has won a trophy with a small club(Leicester) and got them into the Prem ; won Promotion at Wycombe ,took Celtic to final of major Euro comp on a limited budget , took over at Villa on eve of last season(no time to make many signings, club taken over just as NUFC were this time)and steadied a rocking ship - went through a poor patch in mid-season, BUT - unlike Allardyce - they got a fair number of draws, not defeats.. Has arguably made Villa the surprise team of this season and they play good attacking football but with a decent defence..I cannot see NUFC doing the same next year under Sam esp if they spend the same amount of money that O'Neill did this time... I've got a long cut and paste critique of MON I'll put it up if I can find it. I respect your opinion, but IMO he isn't any better than Allardyce in fact in many ways fat Sam is better. We will see.

Our forwards are rarely fit bar Martins. I don't think Vid has been fully fit since he's been here he just looks so ponderous. Owen fires blanks unless he gets custom service which we can't provide. So yes on paper our forwards look better but for various reasons inc fitness/age and style our forwards are nowhere near as effective. Charlie will be better than Young I agree.

11th. Half the season with the relegation-bound squad O'Leary left him, though. We were the last team to be beaten across all leagues at the start of the season, had a bad run in the middle, then finished with a 9 match unbeaten run. All managers have bad runs, though. i was going to pm you this actually. can you see any similiarities with us and you last year? i.e did your fans have a period where they didnt like MON (maybe on the winless run?) or have you always been behind him. i think you underwent a similar mass change to us last year (board change, coach change, player change) and i can honestly see us doing what you have this year and kicking on next season. thoughts? Yes, there are definite similarities. We went through something last year very similar to what you are going through. Also don't forget the fact that, like us, you have also gone through a regime change - everything at the club will be changing this season, from top to bottom. That might not effect things on the pitch directly but nonetheless, the whole club will be in flux. We had quite a lot of moaning, too. Don't forget, in our piss poor patch, we were flirting with relegation spots. Anyone would moan in that situation. The argument that kept coming up, though, was that we'd moaned for years that the club was a f***** up basket case under Ellis, and that nothing - nothing - was right there, so it shouldn't have been a surprise that things didn't go exactly to plan in the first year. We also had weird tactical f*** ups, the team booed off the pitch at half time, MON's team selections which bemused everyone, but for better or worse, you just have to put your trust in the manager to get it right over time - you just have to give him that time to succeed or fail. Get shot of him now and he can justifiably say that he didn't get time. Give him time and if he still fucks up, then get rid of him, but not before. i was hoping your reply would read like that! its heartening to know you went thorugh this s*** last year, and i am strongly of the opinion we stick with sam and ride it out. the similarities are uncanny, dodgy selections, tactics etc. cheers brummie One chink in that theory being that in key positons their players are better/not perpetually injured... than ours. such as? Better forwards /playing regularly and a better CD pairing. Barry (depending on where he starts) and NRC are a better CM pairing than any combination of cm's we can put out. I would say our full backs are the only position that is better than thiers. IMO.
