  1. My main worry is that another club will scoop him away from us.
  2. Aye, I'm sure he'd accept that. He's more suited to the DOF role with all his backroom charts and gizmos etc..I don't think he'd be too unhappy as he could still be a part of our success and build for the future etc...Stuff he seems to love to chat to the media about.
  3. Unfortunately he's probably right. We in here are only a small % of toon fans, and the uneducated majority would love to see Shearer back, and would even be their first choice. Loads of people you speak to hold that opinion, its crazy. i don't know any that think that....quite a lot who think he'll be the next manager though. The thing that i dont understand is that if you ask alot of fans who they want if they could have anyone, alot of them would go for world class managers with proven records, yet the same fans would be reasonably happy if Shearer was installed, without any credible reasoning except that ts been done in the past, it may happen here. ...the main reason is that they think Shearer would get an open chequebook.
  4. End of the world stuff tbh. This forum reads like the book of revelations sometimes. I find a problem with this forum often is that a lot of people like to take results in isolation. Sam got a lot right today, but it was the same old story tactically in the end. We invited unnecessary pressure when we had them rocked back and not only let Chelsea off the hook but there was only one team going to win it in the last 20, when 15 minutes prior to that, their fans were booing them and they were looking very rattled. I'd have said that if we'd got the point, which would nevertheless have been an excellent result, albeit against one of the weakest Chelsea league sides in memory, another reason not to be scared of them. Sam is still not learning these lessons. For such a strong character, he isn't half a coward when it comes to trying to win games. blueyes.gif Said it on here before he seems psychologically quite weak for a big man.
  5. Who got raped all day? Was it N'Zogbia or was it Milner? Who prevented the majority of attacks down his side? SWP could've had a f****** hatful today and the same number of assists. Aye, N'Zogbia isn't a full-back though is he? And I'm thinking long-term, and long-term James Milner simply isn't good enough for where we want to get to. N'Zogbia's infinitely more dangerous on the wing than Milner will ever be, as Parky says he'll potentially be a useful squad player one day, nothing more. If N'Zogbia had worked as hard and had half the nous of Milner today, we'd probably have won. And if Milner had half the talent and ability to actually create chances as N'Zogbia then we might have won too. Oh. I can't be arsed. Milner's s****, N'Zogbia's king of the world. Let's move on. Nice counter-point. It wasn't a counter, I'm just sick of this thread, tbh. Milner performed his job superbly today, yet gets ripped for it. N'Zogbia performed his job poorly today, yet gets accolades. Doubt you'll see anyone saying N'Zogbia did well defensively at all, people are just sick of him being played there when generally he looks our most dangerous player going forward and is pretty bad defensively. I think he'd be fine defensively as a LW, when he's not the last man back on his side. Different ball game completely when you have a competent full-back behind you, as Milner does. Milner worked very hard and was solid, but I want more than that from the wide men. They're the ones you expect to give you something different and make chances, even if they must frustrate you and lose the ball at times in trying to create something special. Milner just doesn't have that ability to create that something special for me, even if he is a model pro who works very hard, whereas N'Zogbia does. That's all I'm saying. Well, I agree with that, honestly. It just seems so unfair to keep putting such an honest player down. He's not all clogger, either, I think he could improve still. He has good technique from deadballs: equal to N'Zogbia, I'd say. Maybe he's too honest and needs to be told to take more risks. I'd make him do pace/short sprint training with Martins.
  6. We saw some of it today and it was like a breath of fresh air. There is hope. Play Faye in midfield and let Zoggy and Duffer loose. There was move where we interchanged 16 passes. Attacking football is the way forward. Take note SA.

Agree and no amount of hard work and spirit which he has in spades will ever give him the one or two components missing from his game sadly. Like him as a player mind.
  9. Jesus He would be my choice. Not so good on crosses apparently. I thought he was famous for his cross, personally. Nailed on.

Faye is ideal for the daddy role protecting an attacking/creative midfielder. If only he wasn't our best CB as well... based on today's performance I'd happily see him in midfield protecting Taylor and Cacapa/Rozzy on a more regular basis. Might give Emre some freedom, or even just give Sam the confidence to play two wingers and two strikers every week. Someone really needs to get SA in a dark room with a sweet cup of hot cha and explain some shit to him.
  12. He's the one that shouldn't be in the squad not Ricky Ricardo Etudiantes Enrique.
  13. Tbf Milner isn't really very good. Does try very hard and that is to his credit. Key components for a winger are missing from his game. Might be better to retrain as a right back. [Allardyce/]
  14. He will become a good squad player in a season or two once MA realises money needs spending.

  16. Owen's first touch was an excellent throughball for Zog that he could have put away, so it's probably for the reason that he isn't a clueless donkey that he was brought on.
  17. There is actually almost no reason on earth to ever play defensive football if you really look at it. Even the fad in the PL has died out now with ManU and Arsenal top. Teams like Reading and Man C go for it...Attack first def when necessary is how I see the game should be played. Play it in their half as much as you can. This season must be on course for including the most goals for a long time. There's at least an 8 goal thriller every week! Villa, Reading and Man C attack whenever they can with midfields that link with the attack and push up, all credit to them. Villa showed no fear when they played Chelsea and we showed what can be done by being a bit positive for that 20 min spell in the second half...In all reality we could have won this game. It these games show clearly there is no reason at all to lose or play cautiously against anyone nevermind the likes of Derby.
  18. I would just like to give myself a pat on the back to make myself feel a bit better about today ... I knew Faye would be a big factor. Please refer to above. I did see that earlier Kaka well done.

  20. ...as I said earlier why make a change when you're clearly on top? Smith was fucked after colliding with Faye and Zog was getting raped at LB Zoggy didn't bother with LB duties in the second half and became the extra player upfront...SA should have just left it...It's a game where risks are worth taking cause no one expected anything from it.
