  1. But Dave you've got exactly what you always ask for a slow steady build up of a squad...fresh grass at the new training camp, a new trowel for daisy etc... You seem to be confusing me with the ones that think the season is over, and are off down to Northern Rock tomorrow. ...they're giving away secretaries or summat... Tbh I was quietly worried about tonight and aye there is a long way to go.

  3. I think the veil has fallen from SA's eyes as well. And there is no Anelka or Diouf to work some magic...either..
  4. Playing Smith right mf is a silly postion and god knows who dreamt that up. If it was originally to interchange with the striker, well they aren't doing that. I'd have rather him upfront with Owen tonight as they showed some nice interchanges for England for 20min or so a few weeks ago. Smith has to play as a forward or breaking from CM with late runs. The wide right thing isn't working. So why's Big Sam persisting with it? It's a bit like Souness playing Bellamy on the right when it was a total waste of time for everyone involved. And Bellamy did the job a hell of a lot better than Smith, tbh. I have no idea why he is persisting with it as I have no idea why we didn't buy at least one creative player this summer. We fucking get it. No you don't most on here said they were happy with the transfer window and it would take 18 years before we could compete for top 10 and shit like that..
  5. Sorry Sam, but I just don't buy that I'm afraid. If anything we've been in the best position of the weekend playing on Monday. I don't either. A textbook old pro manager excuse after international week.
  6. He could see there was no other way we were going to score.

  9. Can't start with such a def and uncreative midfield not one of them can turn a game.
  10. Exactly which is why I can't get my head round the fact N'Zogbia was there for the whole fricking game. We're chasing the game and need a spark, just stick Geremi or someone back there and get the players who can hurt the opposition in the areas where they can do just that instead of recieving the ball off the centre back and then passing down the line. We're really lacking some creativity, it's nights like this often against weaker sides who def deep the creative player will make those extra half dozen chances the goal comes from.
  11. SA unusually for him made a lot of basic errors tonight and it wasn't just in team selection it also looked as if the players weren't ready for a Derby side already aware they are fighting for PL survival. The general movement of the side and reaction times to the 2nd ball seemed slow and and one beat behind Derby who were actually magnificent with their v limited resources. Beye, Faye and Martins should have started. Beye is excellent at bringing the ball forward and has much more pace than Taylor, Beye also sees passes much more clearly. I would have gone with one striker tonight Martins with Smith (he has to pack up this wide right stuff it isn't working) and Zoggy just behind him in central attaking mf postions with only Faye holding. TBH I'd discuss a pure 442 but we aren't going to play that away from home in all reality. Owen clearly wasn't fit out there. Geremi....................Faye...............................Milner ................Smith...........................Zoggy........... ..................................Martins................................ *Any old joker at left back wouldn't have made any differance as Derby were always going to play on the break and we were going to enjoy long bouts of pressure in and around their area.
  12. Seriously what's he like? 12.14 Another day, another press conference and another moan from Rafael Benitez about fixture schedules and player tiredness. And this time the Spanish manager has appealed to the patriot in us all for support. Benitez lost 18 players for a two-week international break last week and blamed tiredness - rather than the fact he needlessly left in form 23-year-old Fernando Torres on the bench for most of the game to give him a rest little more than a month in to the season - for Liverpool's lacklustre performance in their 0-0 draw with Portsmouth on Saturday. "If now we are really tired and lose to Porto, an English team will be losing in the Champions League," Benitez said, doing his best John Bull impression. "If you want your team at the top level in Europe then OK, protect them. The reputation of your country is at stake."
  13. Domi on the left wing....Christ.
  14. So other managers made the same mistake paid for it and somehow this absolves Benny. I see your point but I reapeat playing Sienna and Osasuna isn't the same as Pompey away. Resting players at the start of the season isn't really an issue imo. If this were Feb then I would be more inclined to agree.
  15. Have you forgotten your little blue pills today? :parky: ....another bad choice as Rijkaard nearly got the sack at the end of last season. Try harder... mackems.gif
  16. I see you don't see the differance about the relative strenghts and pitfalls of playing away at Pompey and the merits of perenial relegation fodder Sienna. Not a good example...Must try harder.
  17. He's alright. Nothing special. A bit fat and carrying a heavy ponytail.
  18. Good point. But at these early stages of the season you want your young £20m+ striker to start...I could understand if Torres was 32 or summat and it was 2/3 of the way into a heavy season.
  19. Nice potted historee lesson but f*** all to do with the topic at hand ditto Benny's gauranteed departure from Anfield after they win the Carling Cup and finish 3rd in the league and go out of the CL in QF. If he doesn't stop meddling and rotating that is where I see their season imo. I think he has another year of building before there's pressure to challenge for the title tbh. As someone said earlier, he hasn't spent a net fortune really at all, and Babel and Torres are both young and will need a year to really get going consistently I reckon. They also still need one more truly quality player IMO, someone to create from wide areas. If they get that player, whomever he may be, next summer then I reckon they may just be ready. They do need a quality wide player.....and then he goes and buys Babel who is a forward cum winger. I will say Pennant has improved under him. Then next year people will be saying the def needs sorting. blueyes.gif

  21. You obviously didn't because Kuyt was not even on the bench.  Seen that tactic before NE5 Parky. Like Jol before him all Parky industries space lazer weapons are now turned on the Spanish waiter.
