  1. You think it's safe to assume we'll beat them? We should beat them, obviously, but it's idiotic to just assume that it should be an easy three points. What you reckon the odds will be at the bookies? As the season develops and we continue to improve people will stop worrying about games like this.

  3. Within 5 posts people are questioning our ability to beat Derby....Unreal. mackems.gif
  4. Always mystifies me why people have it in there heads Butt is better.
  5. Didn't see the match on Saturday myself but I thought in the previous games he really didn't try anything adventurous and most of his passes were safe, efficient ones. That's fin if you're a holding midfielder, but we can't be playing with two of them and I think Butt does the job better. Exacertly I don't really give a shit about their passing as long as there isn't two of them doing it.
  6. Be a bit expensive to replace if you lost/destroyed/damaged/got relieved of your shirt though. And what about washing it? Interesting idea like. Good idea and the kind of loyalty building thing PR types love.
  7. Agreed we really need Barton to hit the ground running. Of course if he isn't running he'll hurt himself.
  8. He does tick most boxes and when you sit and analyse what the likes of Mourinho and Rafa are good at - two similar managers in their approach and methods - he is equal in many respects. He lacks their experience and pedigree of course but I'm hoping that will come with managing Newcastle. He certainly has the right tools to prove himself in their company if you like not only within himself but through the club too with our fanbase, finances and untapped potential. I think we have a good one here and he might just be the one. Fingers crossed. I can never make my mind up if they are actually tactically ahead of him in overall setting a side out...Mourinho is a big reader of the game...At his best when he is moody mind or when he's just lost his dog.
  9. Of course he's good enough and he's only a nipper.
  10. Infact I'd go further to say it is the sign of a good manager and a signal to the whole team if a regular is dropped when playing badly or for tactical reasons. Sometimes players do it for no reason but only to Gee up the others [Clough/]
  11. Well seeing as his meeting was from a direct exchange of e mails with Mr Mort and MY GOOD SELF....I thought it proper to confirm the high standing Mr Mort is held in as a FACT. Carry on. Just saying I like Mort basically and that people should get their ideas in.
  12. Any player can be dropped for whatever reason if it's for the good of the team imo.

  14. Just to follow on from Mr Janitor's excellent communication, I am delighted to confirm that the new management at the club are very proactive and are looking to make a new and positive space for its relationship with us. Furthermore I see N.O. and everyone involved with her as the vanguard of the new project that is Newcastle United. Keep up the excellent work Richie baby.
  15. He's the boy alright. blueyes.gif Told yous And the best is yet to come, although there are a few things that we won't like around the corner. Mick, aye, it will be very interesting to see how he handles a bigger budget and what kind of players he'll go for. I think if the money is available he'll be in for Diouf in January, look to offload Ameobi, will maybe listen to offers for Martins and spend big on a more mobile striker to fill the role Viduka currently occupies in the forward 3. That really is the key to this whole lark.
  16. ....and slowly but surely Smudger began to enter the consciousness of the unwilling.
  17. Sums up my thoughts as well. Everyone's talking about the midfield, but I think Viduka's been a problem in this 4-3-3. He might have the build but he clearly doesn't have the legs for such a demanding role. On his own he's easy prey for two defenders and lacks the movement to be beating them to balls, the games so far have been largely passing him by. Put a striker alongside him and that all changes. Yup.
  18. You clearly haven't the first clue how a 433 works... Shades of Arteta plays in the middle? :giggle: Don't fucking patronise me Enid Blyton. The three in the middle are central players. Or is Frank Lampard a winger now? The center left sided midfielder in a 433 interchanges with the left forward (who cycles like a Diouf) pretty much ( although diff variation) as Zoggy did with Milner yesterday. If you are suggesting we play Zoggy as a winger then it isn't 433 then is it? If on the other hand you want him on the left of a forward 3 that is a different debate to do with forwards and not midfielders. Try not to be so disparaging in future and I will give you the same respect. Which is it? He can play on the 'wing' as one of the front 3, he's not cut out for central midfield, not to mention that he neutralizes what he's best at which is beating his full back with pace. There's a reason Mourinho never used/uses Duff, SWP, Robben in one of the central 3 whether they "interchange" or not - why have I never seen Frank Lampard or Michael Ballack charging down the wing towards the full back btw? Maybe Jose doesn't have the first clue how a 4-3-3 works eh? They don't really play a proper 433 anymore mainly due to Mourinho's hankering for extra cover in the shape of Makelele. EDIT: And Essien and Mikel tend to hold the middle...It's overkill really and typical hyperdefensive approach of Mourinho. It's more of a 451 with Cole doing the overlap. Fact is stranger than fiction in the sense that Allardyce's ideas at Bolton and what he probably will try and put into practice for us is more exotic and intersting than the stodge Mourinho dishes up. I'm only bitching about the need for 2 DM's. Interchanging is the heart of a 433 giving options in the second phase ie if Milner/Duff cuts in then Zoggy goes wide and visa versa. Zoggy and later Barton shouldn't feel trapped in the middle...I know it looks like that on paper. Quiroz and Fergie used to argue about this all the time I reckon....

  21. .................Geremi............. .......Smith..............Zoggy.... For now. Later replace Smith with Barton.
  22. Yeah but we know they're crap jpd.
