The Europeometer™ (2024/25) - NUFC Qualify for Conference League (at least)
Davey_C_73 replied to Rich's topic in Football
I've done myself a little spreadsheet (as I don't have anything better to do). I've just put random points in for Liverpool and Arsenal as I expect them to finish 1st/2nd. Highlighted in bold are games already played. Highlighted in orange are the teams competing against each for Europe and these are the games that'll obviously make the difference and are impossible to call. I've not taken goal difference into account. It's too close to call for me, although I do think Villa have too difficult a run-in to do well. -

Pre-season (2025/26) - NUFC to Tour Singapore

Just play through a web browser on a PC or your phone and you'll be able to cast it directly from there without doing anything fancy as the embedded video player has a cast button built in. -
Am I the only one who thought he doesn't look quite ready? In possession he looked fantastic, but out of possession he looked like he wasn't sure where to be. I think until he's had a few training sessions with the rest of the team and understand s positionally where he fits in I reckon he'll just be introduced to games with cameos.

If you could add 3 past-NUFC players to the current team...

Shearer, Ferdinand & Cole -
What about one of the greatest minds in football, and ex-player, Sulzeer Jeremiah Campbell?
-
I hope he brings his bear with him!

That's a Premier league rule as far as I know, nothing to do with any clause in the loan deal.

First half was one of the most enjoyable NUFC games I've watched in a couple of years. Second half we stepped off the gas a bit and let them come at us, but never really looked in danger. Ben Arfa made an immediate impact and we were totally comfortable from then. Palace are one of the worst sides I've seen in a long time though, would have been massively disappointed if we didn't win that. Stoke and Arsenal at home then West Brom away.....looking forward to the Christmas games!

I don't like to give Mark Lawrenson credit normally, but he predicted all the games correctly yesterday....do you think he's on for a clean sweep this weekend? These are his predictions today. Norwich v Chelsea 1-2 Southampton v Swansea 2-1 Tottenham v West Ham 2-0 West Brom v Arsenal 1-1 Comes in at around 16/1

Cardiff City vs Newcastle United - Saturday 5th October

Penn is Pardew....just trying to get a bit of anonymous credit! -
Just an observation......but I noticed that not a single player in our team ever passes the ball to Williamson, I think he received ONE pass in the second half yesterday. Our players prefer to pass back to Krul or hoof it up field, rather than pass to Williamson in space. I was at the Benfica game at St James last season when I noticed this for the first time - they purposely try to avoid passing to him! It makes you wonder what the other players think of him, they obviously don't rate him! To be fair he didn't do too bad when he came on yesterday, but it's obviously a waste of a position in the team if he can't contribute when we are in possession.

Don't know if it's been said previously.....but we go 2nd if we win....until everyone else plays. [Dreamland]If Liverpool get spanked and we win by a few then we go top[/Dreamland] We're gonna lose!

I've just done a quick count and there were 26 2-2 draws last season. Taking a quick look at the odds on Saturday for a 2-2 draw, they range from 11/1 to 18/1, averaging around 14.5/1. If you bet £1 on every game last year for a 2-2 then for average odds of: 11/1 you'd be £49 down. 14.5/1 you'd be £42 up. 18/1 you'd be £133 up However 26 2-2 draws in a season seems a particularly high one for last year, as there were only 13 the season before, 23 the year before that and 19 the year before that. So no, I don't think that's a good tactic.....

I cleared my betting accounts at the end of last season and had a summer off betting, I think it's time to start up again now.... A couple of accys for tomorrow 2 homes, an away and a draw……32/1 Blackpool v Barnsley Brighton v Derby Yeovil v Birmingham Ipswich v Millwall 4 Aways...comes in at 53/1. Bolton Vs Reading (2/1) Huddersfield Vs QPR (6/5) Brentford Vs Sheff Utd (12/5) Notts County Vs Peterborough (11/8)

According to those stats he actually improved at Villa, going from scoring 1 in 10 to 1 in 7 and creating a goal from 1 in 5.5 to 1 in 5.2. At Liverpool his average was 1 goal in 13 games and 1 assist in 8, whereas his career average is 1 goal in 10 games and 1 assist in 6. So based on his career averages, say he played 30 games for us over the season we'd expect him to score 3 goals and create 5. Personally I don't think that's enough for a winger......although it's a massive improvement on Gutierrez who last year got 1 goal and no assists and the year before got 2 goals and 3 assists (in the PL).
