Plenty of land - possibly build houses on it.

well said. Let's just ignore the CL final appearance. I see your final and raise you Boumsong. (Sorry to be a soppy get, but I wouldn't want someone running this club that wouldn't have give us a second thought in his playing career.)

If you put aside the managerial records - and even then KK would come out on top - anyone favouring Hughes over Keegan is a cold, cold fish. He pulled us out from the s***, basically by forcing the board to spend money, and left us in a good state after the nobs in charge saw a chance to cash in on our success. As far as i'm concerned, if he's got an an interest in the job, anything other than full support would be treachery. In my daft sentimental eyes, anyway.

Without his Champions League Final appearance, his record doesn't look too impressive.

Interesting, for the first 30 seconds or so. Who is "the man who mends telephones for a living"? The bit where he reveals he doesn't want a foreign manager because it won't fulfill his need for "back page leads every day" is also rather interesting to hear from the horse's mouth. Apologies to horses everywhere. That little sycophant who basically sits there to be Alan's little benson is pathetic. Maybe the telephone mender can sort out his mobile and stop all the crank calls he's been having. People impersonating football agents etc.

When did Hughes suddenly turn into this great manager he's supposed to be now? Was it sometime between him buying Robbie Savage and looking at Amdy Faye?
-
He's in charge of Leeds, isn't he?

5-1? FFS. That's what I thought too http://img247.imageshack.us/img247/5213/howayup0.jpg

"Are you entertained?" er...not quite.

I'll pray for Kev to come back for good and relight my fire. Everything changes or Could it be magic?

Getting results in the first division with a squad of first division quality players doesn't devalue the win percentage. I'd give credit to Harry for his first spell at Portsmouth; and Coppell's record shows how good he is
-
Are you sure? his record at England and Citeh is s****. Maybe he was lucky as SJP? Redknapps first spell at Pompey is the only time he has had a better win percentage than Kevin Keegans "s****" Manchester City Kevin Keegan Man City - Win percentage - 43.75% Harry Redknapp West Ham - Win percentage - 37.00% Portsmouth - Win percentage - 46.55% Southamption - Win percentage - 26.53% Portsmouth - Win percentage - 40.48% That's eerie, I was going to post the same thing. His record at Man City was better than Allardyces at Bolton also. Man City fizzled out because the board didn't have the financial muscle to build on Keegan's success. And as for finished, ffs, he's younger than Redknapp and about three years older than Big Sam. Never go back? I'm sure Porto would tell Mourinho to f*** off and Aberdeen would snub Ferguson. I can't believe your even putting Keegan in that bracket He's the nearest we have. Let's all sneer at the guy who pulled us up from nothing.

Good news to be honest that the football world still seems to find us attractive. As rejections go, it's pretty flattering.

Optimistic Sorry but the timing and content are spot on, people are wondering what is going on and I think he's explained what he wants and to a certain degree he's also saying that he's not just going to sit and watch, he's also going to invest his time and effort as well as his money. We've had false promises before so I can understand why people are sceptical but Ashley and Mort deserve a chance to show what they can do before people start having a go at them. Agreed. Just yesterday some on here were having a go at him for not being involved, now he let's us know his thoughts and plans, and it's "bad-timing". He can't win. Plans What plans are those? He didn't say what he planned, just what he hoped would happen as a result of his 'plans'. Operation back Sam for five-months. Operation get Harry Phase 3 - Operation 'Harry's snubbed us, now what are we going to do, Chris?' Phase 4 - Operation 'Lets call Alan Oliver, he seems to have all the contacts, Mike.' Phase 5 - Lets call that depressing SSR bloke, he seems to know more about what I want then I do, even though he's a self pitying whiner. Better than being Dr Pangloss.

McDermott - "Hey Mark, look at this - If you mix the yellow pen with the red, it goes orange!" Viduka - "That's dynamite Terry, must dash."

If he hadn't said anything the board forum would be full of people wringing their hands and weeping, asking "Why doesn't he come out and say something." It's only the second time he's given an interview about the club and you're asking him to shut-up? I'm not complaining about how often he speaks, I'm objecting to the timing and the content.

Honestly, I didn't want to stir up the reaction I got, just the more I defended myself, Ashley's disciples took it as a slight on their hero. They see him as a footballing romantic who is just ploughing money into the club never to see it again. Yeah, that's why he took on a club - that he had no previous affiliation with - that was recently in the top 20 richest clubs, instead of the numerous smaller clubs in dire need. There's gold in them thar hills. There seems to be a myth perpetuated that football is a financial black hole, and anyone investing any money into it is just throwing it away for personal glory. Astronomical tv deals, tickets @ £30 a pop, yet apparently there is no money to be made in this business. The bigger the lie, the more it will be believed. Anyways, it doesn't matter if he is a prudent investor or footballing philanthropist. As our avaricious friend Shepherd taught us; if you make lousy choices, it is all for naught. I'm tired of being told what players we're going to buy and how we're going to play attacking football, and how great we're going to be. Don't sing it, BRING IT. Why doesn't he shut up and get on with delivering us these promises? Because all I can see right now is a managerless club with a barren transfer window ahead. Get us a top manager and give him enough money to give us a squad with a decent first 11 and cover in reserve. Then stand back and beam with pride. Don't brag to us at the aftermath of a disaster. It's distasteful.

I don't think that was his tone tbf - I think he was trying to emphasise that he had done something "major" by putting that much money in to show he was serious rather than a figure of fun suggested by his sit with the fans image. I would stop short of kissing his arse but us being a debt free club is worthy of some gratitude I feel. Being debt-free doesn't affect the fans. If the efficient running of the club's finances eventually results in higher revenues which are invested in higher quality personnel, which in turn results in better performances on the pitch - then it affects us. Hasn't happened yet. I'll be grateful when it eventually - hopefully - does.
-
If you actually read my post properly before you had got so angry, you'd notice that I didn't actually say the things he had done were to the detriment to the club. I was taking offence at him expecting gratitude as if he was doing this out of the goodness of his heart. When his savvy business acumen eventually - hopefully - translates into a team worthy of the fans, then I may kiss the ground he walks. I'm not kissing his arse for a healthy balance sheet.

Hope I'm wrong, and he's our benevolent saviour.
