Barton and Wilshere both given freedom to stay central or go wide when in possession to supply crosses for Rooney and Carroll in particular, with both Rooney and Johnson cutting inside. Neither Rooney or Johnson shy away from their defensive duties when the opposition's got the ball, allowing Barton and Wilshere to drift inside a bit more with Rooney and Johnson covering the wings.

Honourable mention to Lövenkrands vs Wolves as well. Obviously not for the finish, but for Barton's and Colo's work in midfield leading up to it. The way Barton holds off three men and then his run is fucking fantastic, as is Colos first touch and his through ball to Barton. Fantastic goal.
