Lövenkrands is a rather shite finisher, but his movement is pretty good. He'll create space for Carroll much better than Nolan will, and is more likely to get on the end of Carrolls flick ons than Nolan, and is certainly a hell of a lot more likely to make runs for Ben Arfa and Barton to play him in behind the oppositions defence.

There's nothing wrong with questioning his decisions though, especially if we lose from a winning position. Were his decisions that poor? Jonas looked lively when he came on, and Ben Arfa looked like he was blowing out of his arse when he was jogging off the pitch. Neither of the changes shaped the outcome of the match as significantly as is being made out... It was Pulis's changes that won the match, not Hughton's that lost it. Barton was our best attacking player by a fucking mile. Constantly involved and made things happen. What an awful second half though. Truly terrible.
