Things you used to get wrong about football when you were little
AlanSkÃrare replied to Pilko's topic in Football
I was convinced Wim Jonk played for Newcastle before I started watching games. I thought Dietmar Kühbauer was one of the world's best players. Hitting the woodwork and then going out of play was always a corner. -
Here comes the "Sky Sources" saying the exact same thing.
-
It's nice having a RB as our primary target and not a central defender, central midfielder or center forward as we are used to. The core is really there, this is just to make us even stronger and add the finishing touches to last summer's rebuilding. What a team we can put out if a couple of these signings come off.
-
Was a lovely finish for his goal like. Just saw it. Brilliant goal. Seems as if he gets on the score sheet or is involved in goals quite often.
-
Agree, there is a difference between being smart and persisten and just stubborn and stupid.
-
How good is Maddison? He seems to make quite an impact whenever he plays.
-
Imagine the relief if they just give in and we get reports of a medical this afternoon.

http://www.lequipe.fr/Football/Actualites/Newcastle-met-6m-pour-debuchy/302903 L'Equipe seem to get their stuff right, looks like "le10sport" got it right yesterday then. Unsure whether this will be enough. Just give them €7m and we'll probably be home and dry.

Don't know if Giggs but anyway.. http://www.le10sport.com/football/europe/mercato/losc-nouvelle-offre-de-newcastle-pour-debuchy70188? Says we've submitted a new bid of €6m up front and a sell-on clause. Response is awaited shortly.

As of Tuesday afternoon though, so maybe based on yesterday's quotes.

Ryder should just get off Twitter.
-
Did you wonder, even for a second, whether this would be the first time someone made that joke? I did, I then promised myself to never, ever visit this thread again. Goodbye.
-
Nobody really knows. Lee Ryder is seemingly stating random guesses everyday to make headlines, Mark Douglas keeps quiet because he doesn't know what's going on. Seems as if we're going back with another bid, but they are reluctant to lower their asking price. He obviously wants to come.

My mate at Melbourne Heart added that while he has bags of ability and potential, his confidence is key to performances. Needs to boost it according to him. Pardew seems to be quite good at bigging up players confidence so hopefully that won't be an issue.
-
What does that even mean?
-
I just spoke to a friend who plays for Melbourne Heart about this lad. He says they're struggling to replace him properly. A tall, strong and quick left-footed centre back. Quiet and modest personality, but someone who will be a good asset for a Premier League club. He "loves to play it out from the back and doesn't do long balls", very confident in the air and always wants to win. Sounds like your typical description, but this friend of mine is a very honest guy, slated some players down there when I asked about them so I don't think he's making anything up. Like the part about him "not doing long balls". Sounds like a good signing. He also confirmed that he has left for Newcastle.

You're right. Swedish and English are so different in this aspect, your language seems to split every word into several. Obviously not milkshake.

Sick of this window. All the transfer stories that we are concerned with are incredibly complicated and will probably drag on until the end of the window when the yearly emotional rollercoaster will leave us all scarred and exhausted. Still I wish it was August 31st so we wouldn't have to put up with this... Debuchy - we're playing hard ball and they are looking for a replacement. For two months this has been the case. Douglas - has 384 different agents and wants a citizenship. We rule him out once a week and then we're back in for him, waiting on different dates. Carroll - History of the deal makes the whole proces very fragile and sensitive, we're holding out for a price that's never going to work. Anita - we bid two sandwiches and a milkshake and they want £8m. Still interested but valuation is miles apart. I still think we'll land some of these players, but the proceses is excruciating.
-
BAE is probably the best left back in the league, not weak defensivley either. Superb for Spurs last season. Don't think there's any truth in this whatsoever btw. Spurs fans laugh at this rumour pretty much the same way we laugh at Cissé to Man City.

West Ham agree fee in region of £15m with Liverpool for Andy Carroll

Very one dimensional side West Ham. I rate Nicky Maynard but they will definately struggle. -

Anyone worried we'll try to match it? -
Different qualities from him and Marveaux means we can still be pretty happy about that left wing
-
Still says that we're hoping to wrap it up in the next 48hrs though. Clearly the same info, I bet Ryder has just taken a flyer. Think so too. Cue this come Wednesday if he signs: "Reported on Debuchy deal on Monday. #nufc were always confident".
-
Chronicle's way to express that a fee has been agreed is very modest though. Still, really think this is happening now. Will be so much more calm if we just sign him.
