I don’t consider myself an expert so I wouldn’t want to give a definitive answer but based on the parameters of the discussion so far I think if you’re not prejudiced purely based on sex that’s a more legitimate starting point.

Absolutely, and what you said before about it being a social construct was spot on. This stuff is so pervasive that people don’t see it for what it is, fish don’t realise they’re swimming in water. As @Kid Icarus summed up nicely before though this line of debate started with someone simply stating they had a clear preference for football punditry based on sex alone, and that’s what I’ve been commenting on. Most of the last few pages has been an attempt to deflect from that viewpoint being overly misogynist. I’ll leave it up to others to decide why some might want to do that.

I’ve stated I have no preference whatsoever based on sex. I must have typed that phrase about 10 times now. More misrepresentation of what I said here, it’s really disappointing. If I became aware that I was favouring anyone based on sex alone I’d try to address it.

It wasn’t him, it was @Orphanage. We’ve already had the discussion about what misogyny is/isn’t, some tried to change the definition because they don’t like it, can’t think why. It’s just boring for everyone now. Assuming a sex-based preference for anything, to everyone on this forum, is just bizarre. All I can tell you is that I don’t have a preference for anything which is based purely on sex. Not that I’m aware of, anyway. If I became aware of it I’d try to address it, maybe discuss it with people I trust, maybe have some therapy if I could afford it. Alternatives to that approach would be either owning it/coming to terms with it, or contacting the Oxford Dictionary to lobby them to change the definition of misogyny.

The premise being that I can’t call out misogyny because I obviously have a preference for men playing sport based on sex alone and therefore people who have explicitly stated they are prejudiced based on sex can’t be misogynist? Is that what’s happening? And if I don’t agree with you that I have a preference based on sex alone then you just don’t believe me and no-one else should?

A preference for the opinion of a man over the opinion of a woman based on nothing other than their sex, which is what was stated, is prejudice and therefore misogynist. How many times does this have to be explained? ’I’m not misogynist I just value a man’s opinion more than a woman’s because they’re a woman’ is a contradiction in terms. Own your misogyny.
