  1. TBH that rivalry doesn't make much sense to the average foreign supporter. They aren't even in the same league as us most of the time.
  2. Are you giving the ratings based on whats being said on the thread, or did you just sleep through most of the match? Decent performance really, and Owen actually looked mobile today.
  3. Stopped reading after reading "great coach" and "Glenn Roeder" in the same sentence.
  4. Just hoping we aren't going to do the old "give the manager a huge contract and sack with massive compensation" thing with Keegan.
  5. Did Deschamps sign all of those players in his first season, or were they already there and he simply came up with a system that fitted all of those players?
  6. Strangely enough, he hasn't lasted longer than a season (going by full seasons) at either club, despite doing relatively well at both. I'm not opposed to his appointment but I'm not completely convinced either.
  7. http://www.iffhs.de/?d443d0b45fdcc02fccaca7dca84505fdcdc3bfcdc0aec70aeedb8a3d0c hardly "official" tbh. Houllier at 5 eh? Abel and Houllier better than Ferguson
  8. Surely even our lot would have enough presence of mind to let Hitzfeld/Van Gaal/Houllier have a real go at the job, if appointed?
  9. Whats wrong with keeping them here? At least they seem to have sorted out our injuries.
  10. Pros: What PegasusBridge said. Cons: Same again, and that the pros would only take two shit performances to dispel.
  11. Which absolute idiots thought Allardyce was our saviour? They are more f****** clueless, and the ones who defended him till the end are even bigger twats, for pretending that being an NUFC "fan" is more important than being honest. Tbh it was more like being patient with him than actually defending his unfathomable tactics.
  12. He did take over only after 4 games into the season, in fairness. Ours will probably miss out on the transfer window and will have to try to work the team into something that resembles a professional football team.
  13. Keane did however, make most of his impact in the Championship, without the pressure any manager coming in to manage us would have to face. The Premier League has proven to be an entirely different kettle of fish, hasn't it? this a piss take? I'd agree with the "crisis" and "disillusioned" bit, however this probably isn't the worst we've faced yet.
  14. Whether we're a top club or not, it doesn't mean we have to settle for an unexperienced manager? To bring him in would be madness. He hasn't managed before, he'll have no real clue what he's doing. getting sick of this as the definitive reason as to why it shouldnt be him. If you read the other threads then its been well documented that many ex players have been successfull in their first managerial jobs. A lot of fans wont identify with anybody thats not already a club icon .... Fact! He knows what the club and the fans are about, and as for inexperience the lad has captained the club for the best part of a decade, aswell as england, do you not think there are some common attributes between being captain and manager? People sayin that shearer will definately fail as a manger are just as fuckin stupid as the window lickers sayin we will win the league on ssn. Do we really need another Roy Keane to show why Shearer shouldn't take the job now? Its a huge gamble, and one that isn't worth taking at the moment. The same Roy Keane who has done a fantastic job at the mackems? The same Roy Keane who has reputedly lost the players already? And with (arguably) worse signings than our ex-manager?

  16. So I suppose my 8 or so away games this season makes me a paltry part time fan? MY opinion is that Shearer should be nowhere near the managers seat. Well if you are so against shearer then who do you suggest is going to take over this absolute shower of s****?! Does your opinion matter more than other fans? Who would I suggest? Houllier, Lippi, Mourinho or Hitzfeld for a start. If clubs like Birmingham have the balls to approach managers like these, then why not us? And look a laughing stock when refused and end up with McLeish? Maybe we could ask them, then get Strachan because Shearer's happier in a job where his bosses want him there. Who is doing quite well at the moment. I can't see us becoming a bigger laughing stock than we are now, short of getting relegated this season. I wouldn't be entirely against having strachan manage us, at least he's average.
  17. I'm going to bang my head against a wall until I develop short-term amnesia.
  18. Mowbray sounds interesting, and somewhat more realistic than most of the names bundled around here.

    Martins

When Martins is on the ball, he is probably one of the slowest strikers in the league. However, we seem to create a lot more attacking opportunities with him in the team than without. If I were Sam, I'd make him do a couple thousand keepy-ups only with his feet each training session, then make him run 100m sprints while trying to dribble a ball until he makes them under 12 seconds or so, <cruel and unusual> perhaps with a shocker attached to remind him whenever he's kicked the ball over half a meter away from his feet.</cruel and unusual>
  20. I can see why Martins is being played there though, to say that his dribbling needs work is quite the understatement.

    Peter Crouch

See: Viduka Crouch is like a younger and fitter viduka, just a whole lot more awkward to watch.
  22. The performance today shows that big sam may just have it in him to turn things around. I'm actually looking foward to the arsenal game now
  23. Iniesta isn't playing regularly for the Barca side, so I've heard. That and "money no object"?
