This isn't a midtable slump though, its bad enough to warrant some worry about relegation. How is it not obvious that we _can_ play better with the players we still have?
Having said that I've seen Everton survive worse.
Last season, when his favoured 4-4-2 stopped working he actually changed it. This season he's absolutely determined to make it work even if it means putting our season through an industrial garbage compacter.
Nonsense, tbh. He's not been our best player and hasn't really come near his best, not that it's all his fault.
Who would that be, then?
Edit: Santon's been more consistent, but he'll never change a game.
To be honest, I thought we performed a lot better this game. I mean, we actually dominated the game for spells, its just that we had no idea how we were supposed to open them up
And neither do we.
Evertons mix of longballs, and quickpaced wing/fullback combinations aren't too bad however
Everton seem to have achieved the impossible in playing a fairly attractive, long ball game. Although so much of what they do comes from their fullbacks providing such natural width, something we lack totally.
And the ability to hold on to the ball and do meaningful things with it. They're playing more like Manchester United and the end-of-2011/12 Wigan these days.
I know its normal for the fans to disagree with the manager on certain things, but with better managers they always seem to know what they're doing and more often than not they'll prove us wrong in the long run.
... can't see that happening here.
60 minutes into the match, I knew the scoreline wasn't going to change, had the same feeling when we played Norwich (despite the win). Have we ever been this predictable?
